But it's listed as playable on the compatibility list?;
https://github.com/xenia-canary/game-compatibility/issues/48

I'm playing it right now, and it runs "good enough" so far, though I've only tested a little.

Maybe your system is a bit older or doesn't fully meet the requirements for Xenia?;
https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Computer_specifications#Recommended_Specifications
>>
>>547470893
I think you mean shader stutters, those are totally normal for ≥ seventh-gen emulation. Upgrading to a CPU with AVX-512 could cut down the stutter intervals a bit (faster compilation = smoother runs), but it's no magic fix.
>>

no my system is fine, i'm not playing diablo 3 reaper of souls btw. I'm playing the one that was released in 2013.

probably, either way its much more playable on ps3 but the crashes suck. I did see a possible fix but the fix was for reaper of souls version so idk if it'll work for just normal Diablo 3.

Nah, his stuff was fine early on, but he really started messing things up somewhere after 0.0.33, if I remember correctly.
>>
>>547477336
Just pick any of the 0.0.33 builds at random.
If it still crashes, grab one from 0.0.32 and repeat the process.
Keep going back (down to around 0.0.28 or so) until it stops crashing.
If it’s still crashing even on those older builds, then the game was always unstable on RPCS3 and it’s not related Elad’s recent messed-up changes.

SO. What's the consensus?

I've recently put Linux Mint on one of my laptops and I'm currently into the rabbit hole of whether it's better to use Retroarch or standalone emulators.

What's my best bet? I've used standalone emulators all my life but apparantely that's not enough anymore lmao. I mainly play GB / GBA (mainly, but not limited to, Pokémon romhacks), SNES and PSX. Some DOOM as well (I use Chocolate Doom / GZDoom for wads).

I'm currently trying Retroarch but seems kinda wonky and unintuitive and I feel it tries to bite more that it can chew, at least for the scope I'm aiming for.
>>
>>547567357
People generally use RetroArch either because they like having one unified interface to handle all their emulation needs, or because it has features other emulators don't, or not as well implemented. The things RetroArch is most renown for are its shader support, its audio/video sync, and input lag reduction measures. Though standalones are finally starting to catch up to it in those regards, RetroArch is still pretty much the only one that does all those things well. But if you don't care about shaders and you don't notice anything wrong with how your standalones feel in regards to, say, frame pacing, judder, audio delay, or input lag, then you can safely ignore RetroArch.

>You simply aren't special or smart enough, simple as.
> I know, it sucks to accept you're middling, or even shitty, but it's true. I am too.
This hyper-individualist poison is exactly what’s killing the West. The problem isn’t that you personally failed some cosmic IQ test; it’s that your society abandoned you. It chose atomized consumerism over kinship, left you isolated, depressed, and told you that was “freedom.”

I live in the Middle East and I constantly see guys here "who would score sub 85 IQ" on a Western test (barely literate, can’t do algebra) yet they own their own homes by 30, have wives and kids who adore them, businesses that work, and a whole tribe that catches them when they fall. Why? Because their family, neighbors, mosque, and community actually give a damn and invest in them at every stage of life instead of throwing them to the wolves at 18 with “good luck, bro.”
Stop swallowing the liberal-atheist lie that your value is measured only by how high you score on some meaningless test or how much you can “make it” alone. You are not a defective unit because you weren’t born a "130-IQ" entrepreneur. You are a human being owed dignity, belonging, and real solidarity; things our societies used to provide and now mock as “collectivism.”The West didn’t lose because its people suddenly got dumber. It lost because it decided blood and fraternity are cringe.
>>
>>547585554
don't lump me in with people in the middle east, i don't want a family and people try to tell me "you can do it!" I just don't have any fucking motivation.
>>
>>547585709
my mom tries to set me up with someone and encourages me to find a girlfriend but that shit just doesn't interest me. So to say "oh muhammad owns a house and has a wife and kids" does not apply to me, I am choosing to rent and not have a family. Not because I can't, because I just don't want that shit.
>>
>>547585709
>i don't want a family and people try to tell me "you can do it!" I just don't have any fucking motivation.
Bro, I’m not telling you to “just man up” or some gay shit like that. I’m saying the exact opposite: the problem is NOT you “lacking motivation.”Western society is legitimately insane. It takes normal human beings, rips away every support structure (family, community, tribe, faith, meaning), dumps you into a concrete box with Netflix and SSRIs, and then acts shocked when you have no energy to “build a family” or do anything at all.Wanting to live and have a future is not supposed to require heroic levels of personal motivation. In normal societies it’s the default setting because people around you actually carry you when you’re down and celebrate you when you’re up.Over here a guy can be a lazy, semi-retarded fuckup and still end up married with four kids and a house because his uncles, cousins, and neighbors drag him along and make it happen. In the West that same guy is told he’s a genetic dead-end and to just cope, pay taxes, and die alone. That’s not a motivation problem. That’s a civilization problem.
>>
>>547585987
I don't take SSRIs, this is me without drugs. Also I don't watch netflix I have amazon and paramount+ for my mom and her boyfriend, i don't watch any type of streaming service. Again though you're bringing up family when I already said I simply do not want a family and its not because I have no energy to do one, I just don't want one. Simple as.
>>
>>547586193
The real issue is, i've literally dealt with too much pain, I don't want to deal with the pain of a kid of mine getting raped/bullied/molested/depressed cause no matter how much you can care for your kid someone else is always gonna fuck with them or fuck them and thats just the fucked up world we live in, why would anyone want to bring a child into a world like this?
>>
>>547585987
also again the whole family thing, my family does exactly what you are describing but I turn everything down because again I don't want a family, so even if I was a muslim I still would be like this, its not a civilization problem, its a problem with me and me alone.
>>
>>547586193
Fair enough, you genuinely don’t want a family; not because you lack energy, but because it’s just not for you. I respect that. Nobody should be forced into a life script they don’t want.
I wasn’t trying to tell you personally to “go get a wife and kids.” I was talking about the bigger picture: most people in the West who say they have “no motivation” aren’t broken or lazy; they’re just reacting normally to this new "society".
But yeah, if solitude is what you actually prefer, then live it fully and without guilt. Some people really are wired that way and that’s fine. Funny thing is, my own mother sounds exactly like you; always told me “I’m happier alone.” Now she’s older and, ironically, it’s us (her family) who are there every day cooking, fixing stuff, keeping her company whether she asked for it or not. Blood is stubborn like that. :P

Live as you want. I just think a lot of the “I’m defective” talk you see online isn’t about individual failure; it’s about a society that stopped behaving like a society. But that doesn’t have to be your personal problem if you’ve truly made peace with going solo. Respect.
>>
Hoping for you guys this doesn't get jannied. Digression isn't a bad thing.
>>
>>547587003
I'll admit I prefer not working but sometimes I wish I had an easy job that can make me six figures but the only thing I know that can do that is coding which I simply just don't understand and fuck have I tried to understand it, cause thats the only thing I would be able to do since my back is compeletly fucked, and working as an office clerk/ data entry wouldn't work for me either because too much background noise just fucks me up completely.

If I found out I actually prefer to play my games in bed, on mobile with a mobile controller, what would be the best way to play PC games in this setup? Playing them on a PC and streaming it to mobile or getting one of these gamer phones, like the chinese one with liquid cooling they just announced and using a PC emulator like Winlator or Gamehub?
>>
>>547635685
You could use a hacky Remote Play workaround and replace the exe of whatever game you have on Steam with the desired PC game of your choice. Be sure the new exe is the same name as the old exe you replaced, otherwise it won't work. (I've tried using this method as a way to use my Deck as a controller for my PC, but I haven't found it ideal in my particular use case.)

It's basically a justworx launcher into a clean 9x + the game. It downloads what it needs via torrent. Much like ExoDOS 6 it really isn't my style. Kind of a bloated client, but it can probably save a lot of frustration for just-wanna-grill types. DOSbox-X is a choice. I don't see that holding up well by the time they get to >=1997 titles where various types of hardware acceleration come into play.
>>
>>547646091
>>547644962
nvm looks like it's full release only, 262gb for 1994-1996. No lite/client only release. For better or worse. That's not a terrible filesize for all those, will say, but that's still a commitment.

Is the shader precompilation in Dolphin only supposed to run one time EVER? Not once per game? The shaders compile the first time I load any game after selecting it, but then even if I load another game the precompilation doesn't run again. That seems weird.
>>
>>547650284
the shaders from then are different from the shaders today. everything that's compiled is cached and some parts can be reused between games dolphin only needs to compile unique shaders the first time it encounters them

Honestly, I think I do too, but I've just lived with the pain for years and coped around its weaknesses. The lag reduction, frame pacing, shaders, ratio/cropping, CRT switchres, and per game/core settings for everything keep me on Daniel's wild ride.
>>
>>547676450
Can't just apt it or use a flatpak?
>>
>>547688380
I get your point. It's just that Retroarch seems lacluster in config settings. For example, I can modify lots of display parameters on Duckstation, but in RetroArch I have limited options. I guess I could live with this but quick question, how do I put scanline filters to videogames? Some seem weird when moving. On the other hands they seem to work in GBA/SNES but not in PSX games lmao. What's even the point?
>>
>>547688684
just about any of the slang/crt/ or slang/scanline shaders should work, just find out which is the closest to your desired aesthetics.
>>
>>547688684
If you're playing your PS1 games uprez'd or in HD, scanlines will get tinier and tinier, and interlaced/hi-res games may have their own artifacts. Scanline shaders are meant to be paired with native resolution/240p, to (overly) simplify this for you.

qemu3dfx definitely has a lot of potential don't get me wrong, and it's genuinely impressive for what it achieves. That said, it's still far from being a convenient, all-in-one, ready-to-go solution for end users. Compared to 86Box or VMware, it lacks a proper built-in GUI, requires quite a bit of CLI configuration, and depends on the host OS's virtualization stack (TCG performs like shit unlike Xemu) or guest-side specific wrapper versions for each game to function smoothly in practice (which is pain in the ass). SoftGPU seems pretty cool for Win9x stuff, but it doesn’t work with XP guests.

https://emulation.gametechwiki.com/index.php/Windows_NT_5.x_emulators
>>
>>547700042
And it doesn’t have BIN/CUE parsing either (same as VMware). VirtualBox is still the only one that kinda supports .cue CD images, but even theirs is pretty half-assed and flaky. So you have to depend on NoCD patches/executables.

so all those nostalgic end users are willing to install their emulated OSes from DOS, but copy pasting some lines on a terminal is beyond their expertise?
I know this is kind of a mindset thing, but the CLI QEMU commands are superior to whatever GUI you can come up for qemu3dfx
>guest-side specific wrapper versions for each game are a pain in the ass
>SoftGPU seems pretty cool
SoftGPU works exactly like what you've described above tho
I guess it's also shit?

I sincerely believe you have never tried out qemu3dfx for yourself, and you're simply repeating stuff you've read from others
>>
>>547650284
The ubershaders are generic aren't they? I believe it simulates the whole rendering pipeline, not specific to any game.
>>
>>547701698
>so all those nostalgic end users are willing to install their emulated OSes from DOS, but copy pasting some lines on a terminal is beyond their expertise?

I'm talking about "casual" users who just want a click-and-play experienc, that's most folks in the emulation scene. These are the same people who complain about 86Box or VMware not being seamless enough, so what do you think they'd say about QEMU 3DFX's CLI-heavy setup and all those guest-side wrappers?

>SoftGPU works exactly like what you've described above tho. I guess it's also shit?

Yeah, but it does seem promising, maybe down the line it'll get bundled into some all-in-one solution, kinda like how virtualization software handles integrations (auto-mount the .ISO image).

>what are you talking about, you can mount BIN/CUE images directly from the VM, have you heard of Daemon Tools?

Ofc, but I'm talking host-side mounting, not guest-side. As you know, having it right in the interface is way more convenient for the average user juggling a ton of images.

>have you ever heard of DRM emulation?

Yes?

>I sincerely believe you have never tried out qemu3dfx for yourself, and you're simply repeating stuff you've read from others

Bro I'm the one who tested it with WHPX in previous /emugen/ threads. I've also done GPU passthrough on Windows with Hyper-V and KVM on Linux back in the day. But like I said, no casual user is gonna mess with that stuff. We need a true all-in-one, ready-to-go solution. Sure, it'll never be as plug-and-play as console emus like Xemu, but even 86Box feels more user-friendly right now (with shitty performance and all)....
>>
>>547702901
>"casual" users who just want a click-and-play experienc, that's most folks in the emulation scene

>86box is better despite performing like shit because the casual user likes GUIs
sorry, but I could not give a damn about the casual user who can't be arsed to do a bit of research and absolutely requires a graphical interface to emulate his DOS based OSes
if all those casual users truly want it so badly, start a gofundme and ask them for the 90bux
use this for a GUI https://github.com/topics/qemu-gui
there, all your problems solved
or you can keep pretending that 86box is even a viable option, just because it gives you neat buttons before you boot your VM

you're fighting a losing battle anon, you said it yourself, the casual user will complain about 86box or VMware, it's still not enough for him
the casual user most likely cannot even setup the most popular and well established emulators by themselves, because they're retards
the casual user doesn't even need 86box to play ancient, 3d accelerated games on his 16 core monster CPU, he can always buy them/pirate them from GOG
and you should always be thankful that most of the autistic emulation devs have not decided to keep their stuff behind a paywall, so that you and I can get to enjoy an infinite library of games on our PC, for free

not anon but ive only downloaded CHDs in prep for my new handheld that's coming. are there any other systems that prefer bin/cue?

On RetroArch, Beetle Saturn is the best. The others are not worth bothering with unless you're on a toaster. Outside of RetroArch, there's Ymir, which is shaping up to be better, though it's not quite there yet.
In any case, you almost always want BIN/CUE rips. ISO rips are unreliable because they don't transmit Redbook CD audio, which a lot of games used for music tracks. There's CHD, which cuts down on file size quite a bit and is pretty much just as good, but not all emulators support it, including the Beetle cores. BIN/CUE will 99% of the time just werk on everything.
>>
>>547744176
gotcha. so how do I know what type of rip I'm getting? it says the game's file type is 7z right now. Am I supposed to do something to it or is this just incorrect in general?

The image is zipped i.e. compressed. It needs to be extracted with 7z manager before you can actually load it. Only then can you tell what kind of rip it is and load it if it's BIN/CUE.

Do you have the Bios? Your game is compressed? Your GPU does have proper Vulcan support.
>>

I should have the bios and the game is extracted, but I don't know what you mean by Vulcan support. How do I check that?

Just wait a few weeks and the PC version will surely be cracked. Some madlad is cracking uncracked Denuvo games in order of release and is currently doing 2021 games. He's been shitting out a crack every 5 days.

My PC doesn't run it due to some shit with the CPU

Well, I tried it out in emus a few years ago before deciding to buy it on PC and it ran in both Ryujinx and Yuzu. Both of those emus were killed by Nintendo last year but there are forks of both being developed. Check the wiki.

Just note that the game runs at like 30fps on Switch.

Try forcing that core into OpenGL. I swear it had a few revisions where it just liked that more, especially if you're using software. If you pick PGS, it should smartly fall back to Vulkan, so no drawback in launching it with OGL.

can somebody explain to me why emufags are such beggars? why do they feel they deserve free stuff?
at least retro collectors are willing to spend a lot on old hardware or games, but emufags demand that everything must be free, and are also constantly complaining about their free emulators, as if the authors have any obligations whatsoever
nigga they're hobbyists, they can shutdown the emu at any time without a warning

Basicallly, for everything except the ones I marked in red on that screenshot, use MAME (like NES arcade variants, Jaguar arcade variant/CoJag, arcade original hardware and other 3d arcade systems, other home console-based hardware etc etc). But if FinalBurn Neo supports it, prefer FBN, it's way less performance-intensive and runs smoother on lower-end hardware.
>>
>>547799159
>>547800124
(cont.) Fire it up in RetroArch (MAME/FBN cores) with HSM's Mega Bezel shader + cabinet bezels, or Back-Ups Arcade frontend (Attract Mode + RocketLauncher) for fades, per-game overlays/CP panels, ambient sounds, smoking effect (lol), etc

How many have bitten so far? A dozen, give or take? I hope it paid the bills for a month, anyway. Your payware isn't *that* necessary, either. There's 3 other viable Win98 emulation/virtualization solutions, the free QEMU3dfx + wrappers (and forks in case you rugpull that), and several native Win10/11 fixes. Set up your kiosk somewhere else.

why are you so obsessed with qemu3dfx bro?
you hate linux, you hate how it works, and you hate the guy because he won't give it up for free
you have at least 3 other viable virtualization solutions so you can jerk off to the Win98 logo, you have all the FREE tools at your disposal to play the games you want natively on Windows 10/11, yet you STILL insist on obsessing with him and his deranged attitude
what the fuck is wrong with you
>>
>>547814860
I don't hate Linux. I've learned to appreciate it a great deal in recent times. It sucks like every OS sucks, and I call it Troonux because it is, but it's most definitely the way forward for anyone who gives a fuck. I'm not obsessed, it's just a recurring topic and I'm a frequent poster on here, so my opinion probably bubbles up a bit more. I think what he's contributed for free is great. $90 for something that maayyyybe works (kek, bet there's a ton of asterisks to that shit) is nuts, and he's a complete lolcow with the way he posts online.

yeah, it doesn't work bruh, it's a scam, problem solved
I'm beginning to see a pattern emerging here
>what he's contributed for free is great
>since he's asking $90 tho, it surely must not work
so, what makes you think that you're entitled to anything for free in general?
>>
>>547815432
You're running defense way too hard, man. I'm trying to be measured here even though it is, like I said, 4chan. You really come off as either him or a sycophant. I'm glad you like his software, or his dick, or whatever. I'm just not gonna pay someone who posts like he does on a 'maybe'
>entitled
Yeah. After ~30 internet years of getting everything I emulate free, it is a way of life for me to expect or try to pirate everything for $0. Sorry, can't stop/won't stop. The way this guy acts also does not smack of premium/professional service worth $90. He's a freak.

and once again, nobody told you to pay him anything, you yourself are constantly debating on whether you want to give him money or not, so stop projecting for once
personally, I don't give a shit if that puts your mind at ease
>it is a way of life for me to expect or try to pirate everything for $0.
cool, again, I don't give a shit, but your distorted world view is not letting you realize the truth, (((we))) pirates have been incredibly lucky to rely on talented people's passion and sheer talent, that's not a given, and nobody owes (((us))) shit
you might not want to hear it, but it's the truth
the greedy freak has every right to sell his talent, and you have every right to not buy whatever he sells
your obsession is unfounded, you're not missing anything by not buying his shit
>communist troons
I think it predates troons but whatever bro, the point is that if you actually liked the OS you wouldn't be thinking about trannies and shit
ew

We’re also “incredibly lucky” that people invented electricity, built the sewers, roads, ships, mining rigs, oil platforms, power grids ( literally every piece of dangerous, dirty infrastructure keeping your PC on)
We’re “incredibly lucky” that millions of men got drafted, blown up, gassed, worked to death in mines and factories througho history, or just straight-up died young so "modern" society could even exist.
We’re “incredibly lucky” that some men still today do more than 90% of workplace deaths and almost all the actual dangerous jobs so you can sit on your ass and pretend talent just falls out of the sky.
We’re “incredibly lucky” that thousands of your ancestors didn’t get eaten, murdered, raped, diseased or just plain mogged out of the gene pool across dozens of generations of pure brutal natural selection so that one specific sperm could fertilizing one specific egg could produce… you.
