Neptunia, Mugen Souls, Moero Chronicle, etc. were celebrations of the culture that birthed them, and that was more than ecchi, that was tokusaku references, funny in-jokes, off-the-wall designs, etc. They were expressions of a developer that felt free, who enjoyed what they were making. So since they enjoyed what they were making, they had the will to improve, to do better. My old friend Blancbro told me one of the things he used to admire most about Compile Heart was their will to improve. Now everything has changed. They are no longer free. They constantly have to worry now whether or not this funny joke they thought of or character design or ecchi minigame will get them banned from the market. And that doesn't just kill creativity, it kills the very WILL to create. Making stuff isn't fun any more when you have to constantly act like HR is in the room, whether or not the HR is literal or in the form of opaque platform standards. And I think that's really what happened in Compile Heart after 2020 (and now with Inti Creates). The director left. The president left. The people remaining are burnt out or newbies. Once you finally get to post-game it's still not as good as rb2/3 post game.rb2/3, especially 3, have new mechanics like SP-based exe drives, ways to regenerate sp and hp, just a lot more mechanics that let you make a lot more interesting decisions both during battle and with your party setup. None of the other nep games have been as good as rb3 post-game IMO if you enjoy the gameplay.I think mk2/VIIR would be the second best type of system but the encounters were still weak especially in VIIR which was was so easy that I couldn't believe it. I actually did not have a character hit 0 HP at any time during my VIIR playthrough.
