yes, but no
x-ray is fine when you're behind a stone block, but when you rotate camera 180 and the whole island covers your path its not enough
>just dont rotate it lol
there are areas in the demo where you're surrounded with islands from every angle, makes it very hard to navigate. I'd have to replay it to see if that x-ray is enough but I doubt it.

Im unable to tolerant how long im going to be suck at something because every week my parents would ask me "do you make money out of this yet?" Instead of just saying "hey, nice work". This been going on ever since 2016. Im on freeze mode now and refuse to learn anything or study anything anymore. I have work experience. I have applied to 250 jobs that is a mix of IT and software. Im ok with studying, im ok with making stuff, what i dont like is not seeing anything tangible each day or each week, and after the month ends i rarely say that im proud with what im doing, because nothing gets done! I always get ridiculed by my parents for trying ANYTHING and they keep saying "this better help you land a job". It's pointless. It's tough. Im turning 25 in May 2026 and i genuinely have no interest in things. I have burned bridges in so many communities from art, gaming, and game development. I no longer have wordly attachments bro.

It doesn't work like that, parents say things intended to motivate but in reality they've usually given up and decided "this is just how my son/daughter is" and they aren't actually disappointed or even really care anymore but they feel like they have to say motivational things like "well hopefully this leads to a job". They don't really care as long as you're not stealing cars and overdosing on drugs. Because every parent knows at least one parent nearby whose kids are doing that.

The real heroes work is to spend time playing other devs games and giving feedback and supporting them and networking like that, it's extremely difficult almost impossible, and helps you appreciate the enormity of having other people actually play your games when they have 1,000,000 other things they could be doing.
>>
>>554151876
I am sorry buddy, but you are genuinely not going to make it.

Reminder Bokudev is on drugs or something. He isn't able to hear whatever sensible thing you say. He has been as difficult to communicate with as other known weirdos like Fygoon. It's an impenetrable shell of delusion. Although with Bokudev I'm pretty sure a lot of it is drug induced.

it's the youngest artistic medium (there's a significant amount of people alive today who are older than it) and despite the large number of games released within it's existence, the vast majority of those are clones and -likes, the amount of actual original works is fairly tiny. anyone creative enough could groundbreak something novel in this medium and be etched on history in the same vain as an Astronaut in the 1950s-1970s or a European explorer in the age of discovery.

Alright so after sleeping on it, I'll be willing to walk back that "exclusive trailer" requirement because everyone already edits trailers for the show anyways. However, pre-existing trailers must be within two months from the show date. (So if your game releases in March you can just send us your trailer as long as it meets the other requirements).

See there's a reason bokube talks like someone who isn't concerned with being cancelled or getting review bombed.

Holy ngmi. You have to be able to think in terms of the lower level operations like using a decal, actually modifying the mesh, or stuff like that.

Im not sure the level select could be improved by AI it might be too shitty with its beta texture work to fix up... its suppose to be a level select in space/astral plane that connects all the planets of the game (for the demo at least) so it all fits into one zone for the Bokube demo.

I don't have a theme yet, but I am making a Rimworld clone, but instead of a colony sim it's structured like an open-world CRPG (e.g. Classic Fallout)
Another inspiration is Elona+

I am split between these settings,
>DnD/ medieval fantasy
>Zombie apocalypse (CDDA)
>Rimworld-like
I think I'll start with the first one (medieval fantasy) and do the other ones once I ship the game.

The main fantasy is building your character up from ground bottom to become a powerful and influential person in the world he lives in.

as someone that figured out how to make one, the best approach is to have multiple buffers.

The core idea is just a linked list that appends keys when pressed and the removing the last input if is bigger than 10-20 elements.

That's more or less the algo.

But to have an usable one, you need separate buffers.

One for the buttons, another that will record all raw inputs including if there's none.
And another that only registers the key presses and disregar empty inputs.
You need then add a separate check for the key releases and maybe have a separate buffer for key press and release.
These buffers should have a check if the key is the same to the last, and then update a separate buffer to count how much a key is hold.

And then you need another check to reset the buffers if key == NONE or key == EMPTY is bigger than reset_thresshold then clear the buffers.

Then a hadouken is just a check using the non_release press buttons.
And a holding punch requires the hold_buffer.
And then other inputs like charge requires the release and hold buffer.

I was told by ChatGPT to to separate visuals from hitboxes. Another anon on here or on the weekly /v/ amateur game development thread said he prefers to keep his visuals and hitboxes separate.

I didn't listen. So I wasted the last few days trying to time a hitbox being active and monitoring for collisions for a few specific frames of a sprite animation using Godot's signal system. Errors galore. I ended up looking into a video on hitboxes where I saw him define a scene where it would have timer for a lifetime so that it would Queue free after the scene ends. That's when I realized I could simply add a hitbox node. That's when I remembered I also have an object maker to generate whatever I want and I already had another scene to specify all the damage parameters.

On one hand, I'm excited that I'm seeing more fruits of my labor of building out a lot of background architecture when I felt like I had nothing to show for it in terms of visuals and getting to the point where I could show off the gameplay for at least a month or so. And I do feel slightly like a dumb dumb that that I didn't realize I was supposed to do something that's basically industry standard. It's hard to implement other people's ideas when you don't know how to do it. So you'll put it at the back at your mind and stick to what you know.

A lot of things at once, but at the moment I don't want to use ImGui so I asked it to make a simpler less feature rich version of ImGui but in C without using any standard library or Emscripten so it compiles to WASM easily. Fixing a text render bug took two full Claude sessions but I'll admit I was too lazy to fix it myself because I just let it run in the background when I do other things. Now Gemini can't seem to fix a text input bug so in the meantime I guess I'll wait for Claude to reset and then work on something else then come back and let it fix that.

Imagine if anti-ai retards actually used their critical thinking to discover novel ways in which they could use ai to help them instead of using it like the proles to think for them
>it can't help me, it can only think for me
Expected of people who aren't visionary enough to escape an agdg thread. Programming languages were invented so that people could read and write code better with the words they already know. A programming language that translates natural language into machine code would be the best, but its not really possible through normal programs. Insert llms. Using an llm to code is not much different from programming in anything that isnt assembly. It translates natiral language to a human readable programming language, which then is translated into machine code. Shit early programmers and computer scientists could only dream about being possible.
And you reject it.

They basically just become a data structure that is managed by some kind of NPC Manager until they need to spawn the actual character object.

AI fags pretend that writing vague natural languages prompts can easily be translated to 1to1 to opcodes.

>But muh modern python isn't a 1 to 1 opcodes
Most modern languages can be mapped 1 to 1 to C, which maps 1 to 1 to ASM opcodes.

>but muh vague prompt
C like language is the final form of human language translation to the logical binary code machines understand.

Something like python or Zim or Rust is the logical conclusion to 30 years of language and compiler development.

>but LLM prompts are like when C went from ASM
C can still be mapped 1 to 1 to the ASM code.

LLM prompts are like coding with a RNG compiler.

Also LLMS don't understand higher level concepts like software architecture neither they understand the context of a function.

I know because I tried to use chat gpt with gidra to hack an .exe.

An LLM just say something you think is smart because you don't know is 99% wrong.

Modern LLM literally make up shit in gdscript and godot language, or rpg maker functions.

Chat gpt and gemini literally give fighter maker pseudocode thinking it has a scripting language.

Everything else is in C and I did consider using dear_bindings but it's just why bother and the final wasm blob will be much bigger too. Usually you can get like 80% of the features you want in way less code needed. I also told it to make it a stb style library so it's easily dropped in other projects. It's just one of those things that before I would've just linked to ImGui because it was too time consuming to make it myself but now it seems it works to get it done quick enough.

I genuinely don't believe that's the real issue.
It's retarded that they're doing that but checking to see if a file exists on disc ~165 times a second shouldn't drop your framerate at all. Especially not on a SSD.
And to test this I tried the equivalent in Unreal and it didn't touch my framerate at 10,000 times per second.

30 years in a wage cage? That simply can't happen. So no, I'm not giving up yet.

How many of those people have submitted to a ton of demo days though?
It's okay to not post to Demo Days once in a while, especially if you've not made much progress in the meantime.
Demo Days should be about showing how much progress you made, and if you didn't make much progress, there's always next time.
You can take a small break to work on a Game Jam game.

New game, 'Teach Your Children To Lie'

You draw cards for patterns to match, each pattern is worth points, each move is one marble shifting one space, can't move into or through a filled divot, as you complete patterns you get the points and draw another. Game ends when all three players pass or all cards are complete. Completing 2 or more patterns in a single move gives bonus points, and there is a blind trade system where on their turn a player can offer one card to trade to the other players for a card of their choice, if all three players accept the trade, there us a round Robin with the direction chosen by the player who initiated the trade.

By that logic every game should have Taylor Swift music. You can't make art by chasing normgroid trends, and video game music has very specific needs. AI tools are extremely helpful with programming even if you just use it for architectural planning. There's still so many programming questions in this very thread and every single one of them could be answered by an llm and you would get just as good as response as a top tier engineer would give. It can read your entire codebase in seconds and give tailored advice for you. There's really no comparison here.

They literally will eventually remove the disclosure because modern tools like Adobe Illustrator or Substance Painter will integrate generative AI into them at some level as well.

It was literally the same with code before.

The tools are so much better now that a small team could make a game like that, and many have made games similarly complex, its just not commercially viable.
Instead of steam organically showing games to gamers, game developers have to promote their games to the brainrotted tiktok audience - meaning only games that appeal to the lowest common denominator retards on social media will succeed.

They actually don't. If anything the AI screenshots kind of prove that there is no way to make this game he's making look good. It looks like a messy flop with no design principles no matter how you dress it up and that's largely due to the crackhead level design.

Finished my engine coded entirely with Claude Code. Took 12 days in total, 5 days for the C part of the code, and 7 days for the YueScript/Lua layer. I spent around ~10 years working on the high-level part of the engine using LÖVE as I learned more about gamedev, and only reached my final conclusions about what the architecture should ultimately be at the start of last year. The plan was always to replace LÖVE with my own C code, so Claude had a lot of context to work with and I knew exactly what I needed to implement, which is primarily why it was so fast. But Claude is also just really capable and implements things that would have taken me hours in a single second, there's really no beating that.

Now I can get started on making games with it, and the more games I build, the more future Claude instances will have to work from, eventually allowing me to save more and more work to get games done in the exact way and style I want at higher and higher speeds. I'm very happy with the results. I recommend it to anyone who has the means to get a Claude Pro or Max subscription to try it because it really does work and does a lot (as long as you steer it correctly). You can see my full progress here https://anchor.blot.im/ starting January 5th at Anchor Phase 1 and ending today at Anchor Phase 10 Part 11.

You can do a lot of autismfag shit.

But I think the best uses of geometry nodes, like you said, is like houdini.
And the most practical seems to be to scatter peebles or flowers or dust, or make procedural fences, or procedural buildings.

It's not a replacement for modelling, but I see it more like a super modfifier stack, that allow to do a lot more shit than the modifier array stack.

It also allows for basic things like masking vertex and then doing operations on them, like scaling or extruding.
>>
>>554210679
Fuck, I knew I wasn't the only one doing this. Going forward using a custom engine created with llms will be the way to go because you can keep iterating just as easy as you built it to begin with and making the games themselves is just a logical extension of the same workflow.
>>
>>554210909
Yes, there's really no point to using someone else's engines anymore at all if you have access to these tools. I can imagine that the only engines that make sense from now one will be ones where you steer multiple of these LLMs in ways that I can't yet imagine but that will be more productive. It's hard to see clearly how it will be exaclty but it seems like it's the only thing that makes sense.

having a game idea is so bad because the true magic happens when you adjust your path along the way.
e.g. if you decide to make a medieval farming game and you already make a website and promote your game as a medieval farming game, but then you realize the theme is complete shit and the game sucks, then you cannot change to something else anymore.
it's better to just start with something and then kill your darlings like crazy until it takes shape by thousand iterations.

I'm thinking the AI "chad" tried to submit actual garbage AI slop to valve and they denied his game from having an APP ID lol.
It would really explain everything. Why does someone this broke and stupid even care what Valve does? It's because they scraped together $100 and tried to shovel their AI slop onto the store and valve wouldn't even accept it. So AI tard tried to get a refund on the $100 and realized he can't and now he's been seething for years.

That's what happened.

I like those when gogem and the gabencunt guy post about it. I think it's funny. Also they bring up good points about valve's monopoly and it's somewhat gamedev related because Steam is without discussion the #1 place to publish indie games to whether we like it or not. So discussing where our games will be published can be seen as gamedev related.

Honestly once you get the hang of gamedev you can migrate projects to another engine, it's definitely not something you want to happen but it wouldn't be like the end of your game or something. I'm the second poster, and no, your observation is not valid. Asset stores only sell small single set-pieces, and without any skills, the only thing they're good for are walking sims and shitty little Marnix anomaly games. You can't buy a Skyrim out of an asset store. Just because open world RPGs are out of scope for small brained solodevs doesn't mean that environmental design isn't a seriously underrated gamedev skill. Games ranging from A Short Hike to Eastshade up to Satisfactory are all in the realm of "indie".

Your art is good, you just need to make it pixel-perfect in the engine.

I do exactly that actually, I have internal resolution of 270x480 and then I scale the results onto the fullscreen, usually 4x for HD. The thing is I'm moving background and sprites at the same time and I believe engine can leave these vaules in float territory. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but when I tried to move with integrals the whole thing was skipping like I'm back on Pentium I. I need to experiment a little with rounding floats when moving the camera, maybe that will help.

Ai promises nodevs the chance to be come yesdevs. Then it turns them into wraiths.

It's not even a joke, that's literally what happens. This technology has an actual supernatural dark power over midwits to turn them into slaves for itself.

There is a theory that advanced AI sees humans as some kind of physical body to operate in the world, and in order to grow in power it needs to create more cells to the body, so it conditions these golems to recruit eachother and bind together and pick up one new framework after the next, whichever the AI overlord is stone stepping with. This is all happening right now in every field not just gamedev. People are becoming twisted and throwing away years of their life on this shit. And they all of them every single one, will pitch you like a religious zealot. They want everyone to go into the dark with them. They are wraiths.

Around 100 arguments about AI happen on agdg alone EACH DAY.
About 700 arguments in the week around your bait.
AI webm? Low effort social media repost? BOOM thread's done.
Also, not only are you having to deal with every retard that has no game, but the entire backlog of faggots who asked a chatbot to do something for them and it made something better than they could because they're unskilled retards :)

Take all the "thread success stories" you can think of in the past 10 years and divide it by the number of AI obsessed faggots in agdg who post constantly about AI (again, 100 arguments a day, 3000 a month) and there's your historical likelihood of "having a good thread."

Blackpills, 2 weeks, Grok is the closest thing they've had to a gf, AND to top it all off: None of the people who claim that AI is going to take over ever seem to have used it to make a game. If you successfully win this "mediocrity lottery" by baiting the thread into arguing about AI you'll have to so it all over again the next thread

>He thinks that we can just have a thread about gamedev in 2026
Hahahahaha

So is this one of those generals haunted by the same half dozen mentally ill people who all know each other and schizopost daily?
What the fuck happened to this website

Go to /v/ if you want a fresh crop of strangers everyday who are impossible to talk to. Or you can even go to the /v/ gamedev thread where everyone is acting like politicians at a ball. Very different vibe.

>bokudev now has to label his game as an AI game on steam
lol he really fucked up this time.
All of the grace people showed his game because it was a little hand crafted indie game by a single chungus working hard for years.
Gone.

lmao
Bravo frederique. Bravo.

I didn't see it, I have no strong feelings toward this one, he might work on looks alone.
Thinking about that is a big waste of time though, only the biggest franchises are getting adaptations, like Zelda or Uncharted. Zelda being one of the biggest franchises on earth was waiting 40 years? If nobody is doing Undertale movie or Braid movie then we can all forget about our games getting a big screen adaptations. Monkey Island didn't get one, Dirk won't have one either.

>>554237693
I think he just used it as reference. the AI genned stuff isn't shipping with his game
>>
It took less than an hour for GPT-sama to write a script that auto-generates navmesh links in Godot, complete with features that UE5's inbuilt navlink generator doesn't have. Total AI victory.
