The only way you can reconnect with your inner beauty and construct a fun modpack is to throw caution to the wind and put mods in it which you think sound cool. That said that Heat and Climate guy in the last thread got me hankering for a Heat and Climate themed pack with my favourite mods. Not really planning on making it into a server so I'm gonna throw some laggier mods in too.

I am the heat and climate guy of which you speak (at least I’m pretty sure I am). It sounds like you’re literally just describing my current modpack lol. Only difference is that my pack is on 1.12, not 1.19.
For science and research, I am currently using minechem and galacticraft with the research addon, as well as astral sorcery.
I have been strongly considering using rockhounding chemistry but I’m not fully clear on what that mod actually does. It looks and sounds cool, though. The alchemy system in embers also requires some testing and experimentation which is neat.
My favorite weeb mods for 1.12 are slashblade, little maid mod, lovely robot, and urushi

Thanks for the recommends! I grabbed some 1.19.2 versions of the mods you got and it's actually pretty smooth going so far. Just need to adjust a few configurations and stuff. Rockhounding sounds fun! I grabbed dim doors and integrated dynamics for my inventory management.

And here is a self sustaining steam engine, once again the magma blocks were a nice push but the maple biome from terralith takes over a bunch of the common forrests, and the dark oak trees grow fast and thick

At this stage I need to start modifying recipes if I want the nether to be disabled for this, just don't want to balance around it with Cold Sweat active since it's a major detour to get a cold lantern or whatever the hell it's called and there's never a fun way to find the nether fortress

Considered also getting hoglins spawning in the overworld along with piglins, like that the hogs are just constantly aggressive, might need to tweak where mobs can spawn I finally got a small amount of exploring in the area and aside from rabbits it's just mules from the caravans that I can't breed

I know cold sweat has a mod that affects crop growth but it didn't work last time and after playing with a similar effect from serene seasons I realized I just dont like waiting for crops to grow, I do miss the cutting board interaction as a fast way to strip logs but i dont like fucking around with a bunch of meals and desu shorter stacks on food has been way better than any of the spice of life mods, those are too obfuscated and when your focus is the homestead instead of exploring it's a lot less exciting making 20 different meals instead of optimizing, vs an exploration pack where you just find the meals in loot and trying to stay alive

It took a lot of work, but I fit this thing in my base (along with a similar, smaller one which is around the corner). For now, I only need it for a few ingots - however, I might need it for a lot of stuff in the future.
I'm also worrying that I won't be able to fit everything in my base, and I'll need to really extend roads and make space. I'm more concerned that this pack will overstay its welcome.

Turns out there's a resource pack to make ultimate cars not look like shit, and ultimate cars kinda looking like shit was really my only complaint for the mod, so I'm happy.

I'm going to make one of the tanker trunks. My hope is that it will work with heat and climate fluid hoppers to allow me to quickly get gasoline in and out of the tank so I can supply gas stations with gas.

I love building in the aether because I think it looks nice, and it has good OST. I don't mind that it's "shallow" content-wise, because I just want a nice dimension to build in and to give my builds some baseline structure (as opposed to building in the void).
I also keep it perma-day by not killing the sun god. I wish you could set it back to perma-day in-game, instead of needing to NBT edit.

Got everything for advanced rocketry built, I needed three machines (plus finally automating the crafting core).
I still have way more to do to get to the planets (I need to do some weird bee stuff for stargates, which will have to be hosted in a space station, but this is a pretty big step towards getting to the planet Sedna (which has an ingot that will save me tons of headaches).
I'll have to set up my launch area in the overworld I think, but such is life.

My favorite slop pack is ATM9, 100x better than atm10 (it's not on a shit version, has better mods, has gregtech), but you're not going to enjoy an atm pack unless you want to do automation. Or, at least, you're not going to beat it if you don't do automation, but again I doubt you'd play anything for more than a few hours before getting bored and giving up.
So in summary, just open one of them up and try it. you won't like it.

If you want a suggestion for higher quality slop, I'd recommend Magiculture 2. I had a lot of fun playing through it even if it wasn't all automation.
Disliking a medieval really outs you as retarded as well, so I'd throw in DeceasedCraft as the premier "good" zombie apocalypse modpack.

I have made three of the six reactors I need to conquer space (I was wondering when I would need more, and then the warper recipe needed both berkelium and meatballium).
They're fairly annoying to make the fuels for, and I think I'm going to stop trying to fit the fuel reprocessing outputs in drawers and just shove it all into my ME system (since the reactor speed itself is a pretty good cap)
I also cheated a bit by turning off radiation in the configs, I didn't want to deal with the downstream effects of having it on (cramming everything in one chunk that has the radiation scrubbers) - it's already hard enough to build in this pack without having everything be a void lawnbase.
After this, the only two obstacles are some bee breeding (tedious, but doable) and tree breeding (similar).

Here's the start of the autism factory, deliberated on a full copper age back port or just the tools, as cool as copper golems are I already have Tom's installed (and AE) and there's chisel already for decorative blocks

Biomancy wants one of each of the vanilla meats to get started and I'm not sure if the default setup has all the animal mobs spawning with a reasonable distance since a lot of cold biomes remove them but I saw them a couple times while testing

You basically need fully insulated armor to explore and between strip mining not working and all the blocks that want iron (and just being bad at the game) I'm kind of short when I need to suit up if I'm going to get out there.

im still pretty sure you can find animals in some of the cold biomes but might add them to the world in general, wolves spawn frequently which is nice, technically all the biomancy stuff (needs predators and prey all animals) is okay, since wolves and bears are frequent those + bats cover the predator side and i'm pretty sure the frequent caravans with their mules should cover the prey animals

i dunno maybe it'd be fine without them spawning like you only need the basic meat groups for the initial core which seems like a thematic oversight, generally getting access to cows pigs chicken and sheep is a non issue maybe it'd be cool without them (plus caravans so far are mostly wool and leather honestly might not even modify them)

do feel like i want to have goats spawning at lower height biomes though turns out i miss understood how wool works for insulation, it only gives have the rate as goat fur, i do know there is a config though maybe i can add a different item I want something to interact with all the ocean ghoulies i added

Here's why I'm sick and fucking tired of having to use Optifine for shaders on 1.12.2. Divine Journey 2, for some unexplicable reason the same shaders that worked just fine on a different modpack cause massive issues here. Shit's too intrusive, as well as unoptimized as it underutilizes my 3090 and it's about fucking time we get a modern shader implementation for 1.12.2.

Cow herd in a snowy plains, chicken in the siberian tiaga and then cold marshes (where they were subsequently eaten by foxes), a single sheep in the maple forest, and a pig in the maple forest but was next to a clanging howl ghoulie i could not see but shot neurotoxin at me, so if it was the face hugger knockoff that pig is as good as dead if it got to close while i ran away

decided to check out one of the scorched guns 2 structures that spawned near by and a freaky mutant started chasing me when i thought i lost him at this clearing but mother fucker was persistent, thankfull not too bad to fight, copper armor definitely a nice mid way gap between iron especially whith the extra ghoulies that have like, guns and shit or the aliens who are very strong

anyways an AE2 meteor and a clanging howl (non alien nest meteor) spawned next to each other, honestly want to try and get ohmymeteors working again, you can setup custom structures with the meteors and since they support entities i think it would be neat to have the occasional alien invader blast in or use it as a way of delivering blazes maybe

this pack is a lot better than the first one i did im actually looking forward to progression instead of just ways to cheat the system, big props to no strip mining i think that kills a lot of the fun of minecraft in general

I kind of agree with other anon that 1.12 is your best bet for fleshed out packs, there's been too much version hopping recently for things to be stable enough.
The only really good packs I played past that were much more focused, and specifically create-style packs (since it's easier to make a pack like that when you have one base mod, kind of how the gregpacks work). There will probably be some good nu-version packs on stuff like 1.20, but it's still too new and in flux compared to the stability 1.12 had.
With regards to your create stuff, I think it's kind of the opposite - create shouldn't be a small part of the pack, it should either be the primary focus or not there at all. The big problem with new packs is they just shove it in with the other tech mods, where it doesn't really fit.

I last played this game in like 2012 and only just recently started playing it because I think voxxy + shaders looks really cool, but I'm still as much of a pussy as I was in when I was 12.

I tried Cobbleverse and Cobblemon Academy. Academy is odd, it has like "daily" quests and you get points, with these points you get gym keys and other rewards. Might be someone's cup of tea. Cobbleverse is simpler which might be good depending on who you ask, gyms spawn randomly and you can get maps to find them. Or something, it's been a while.
