Soon after, a secret investigation finds presence of rare earth metals, hallucinogens, and other dangerous materials. These results are then leaked, and the protests turn violent.Yukimura Riru, the daughter of a Mikumo 77 factory manager, goes missing. Three more children who were close to Riru go missing soon after.Riru is found dead three days later. Two perpetrators are killed while evading capture, one surrenders and confesses to the murder. The three children close to Riru are found badly injured soon after.The second water inspection's results are found to be fabricated. Those responsible for are imprisoned. Tensions gradually die down, though the feelings of animosity between the villages and the Yukimura Zaibatsu never dissipate completely.Compare this to Sumio's "fairy tale" from the beginning of the chapter:An evil man kidnaps a princess. A band of heroes assembles to rescue the princess, but they're too late and the man has already murdered her.
