Like this is really hard to phrase in a way that doesn't sound retarded but if I wanna make good color palettes for stuff like character design I want to know how people intuitively figure out how to ascertain brightness from the colors they handpick (like I get that something like pure yellow looks way brighter than pure blue, but I don't know how someone randomly picks something like a cyan tone and know that it's brighter than an orange tone, that kind of thing, people must've already figured this out centuries ago)
