If we ever reach a point that most labor can be automated I think the wealthy corpos that control our governments won't want to subsidize everybody's lives and it'll trigger a long and deadly class war. Maybe we'll have a post-scarcity society afterwards where nobody has to work but I doubt that will happen in our lifetimes.

Mine is that Valerie massaged her feet, Panam was visibly embarrassed about her feet being a little stinky which led to Valerie playfully kissing a toe, then another, then sucking one, licking between them, and eventually an extremely vigorous introduction to lesbian sex. >>
>>557019409
>PONDSMITH GOT IT WRONG AND JUST NEVER CORRECTED IT
Yes, he clearly misspoke. Input/output already has male/female labels applied to it outside of Cyberpunk. He made a mistake which was then corrected, the opposite of your original claim that a mistake was made afterwards. You completely inverted events because you're low IQ, and now you can't let it go. Do you drooling guttersnipes not know what male/female pipes are and how that might relate here? Do you think Pondsmith invented it? No. He misspoke, you know he did, it was corrected, and now you're doubling down and making yourself twice as wrong.

The source material got it backwards, and that is now corrected. Input/output associations with male/female predate Cyberpunk, it isn't something Pondsmith created, it's just something he initially misspoke. This is obvious to any thinking person of good judgement, which is why it evades your grasp like a fine mist.

>>557019834
>read the text
I did, that's why I correctly described you verbally flailing around, losing the argument, and then engaging in inversion and meme language to try and salvage dignity that you lost long ago. Input is male and output is female, as it was before Cyberpunk was ever thought of, as it was intended to be when Cyberpunk was first written, and as it is today. The original assertion that it was correct and then incorrect was itself incorrect and utterly backwards.
>>
Then explain the Cyberpunk RED book still having the original orientation despite being created alongside the video game to ensure consistency across the franchise. You can't. The fact is the video game either changed it without Pondsmith's approval or fucked it up.

No. There's no need to explain it, it's outside the scope of the issue. It was incorrect usage of a very common male/female distinction used for everything from headphone jacks to pipes to any sort of mechanical fasteners and probably stuff I've never thought of, it isn't something Pondsmith created, just something he initially got wrong and which is now corrected. If you want to speculate on why they don't reissue the books to fix his mistake, knock yourself out, but regardless of any answer you come up with a mistake was made and now it's fixed.

You can always tell people are mad when they start doing the reply-without-replying thing. They desperately want to feel like they've said something but they're afraid to directly address anyone anymore, so you get these sorts of feminine drive bys. Whenever you see this you can be sure that the anon will be replaying this argument in the shower for a week.
>>
>>557020445
>No. There's no need to explain it, it's outside the scope of the issue.
It is the fundamental basis of the issue, actually. Clearly if it persists in multiple versions including the one meant to serve as a canonical backdrop for the video game, that is Pondsmith's intended version. Whether it makes sense with real world terms or not is irrelevant.
>>
>>557020615
>t is the fundamental basis of the issue, actually
No, it isn't. The fundamental basis of the issue is the claim that the book had it right and then the game got it wrong, when it's actually the reverse. This is founded in your assumption that this input/output distinction to describe male/female is something that Pondsmith created and therefore has dominion over, like "gonk", which also isn't true. He just got it wrong. If Pondsmith writes "could care less" instead of "couldn't care less" that doesn't mean he created new Night City exclusive slang, he just fucked up. But people on 4chan are always unintelligent and bad at thinking so no matter how simply this is explained they just can't get it, might as well try teaching algebra to a roach.
>>
Defimutely gonna think about "feminine drive bys" in the shower later.

>The fundamental basis of the issue is the claim that the book had it right and then the game got it wrong
I see where you're coming from, but you're misunderstanding my initial statement. It's not that "the book got it right" and "the game got it wrong". I said the game mixed it up from the source material. Whether Pondsmith had it "right" or not doesn't matter, that's the way he wrote it in multiple versions including the one meant to serve as a frame of reference for the video game. That matters, that shows intent. Whether he was "right or wrong" is entirely meaningless. He created this world, not you. What he says is what matters. If you disagree with that, you're not really a fan and should really get into a new game that suits your specific brand of autism where everything needs to make perfect logical sense.
>>
>>557021119
>That matters, that shows intent.
It only shows lack of understanding. A person who says "has their cake and ate it too" might say it wrong a thousand times, and it doesn't mean anything other than the person having a backwards understanding and nobody around them to correct it. It's not a conscious decision to flip things that needs to be respected because the author was trying to impart some new meaning, which is why it was fixed. If Pondsmith forgets a punctuation mark somewhere that doesn't need to be chiseled into stone. Pondsmith has dominion over things he creates, "gonk", "edgerunner", "choom", he doesn't have dominion over common turns of phrase that are older than he is.
>>
>>557021119
from someone who understood your intent and agrees, it's probably best just to let this go for the night.
>>
>>557021371
>he doesn't have dominion over common turns of phrase that are older than he is.
He has every right to change or repurpose phrases in his own setting if he wants to. That is the very NATURE of creative control in fiction. Tomorrow I could write a book where "piece of cake" means "something small" instead of "something easy". Is that correct in the real world? No, but that literally doesn't matter because I am writing fiction. I can do whatever the fuck I want. How are you not grasping this? I'm gonna stop here so as not to shit up the thread more but I strongly suggest you think on this a bit more, in fiction not everything has to follow real world meanings.
>>557021523
Yeah, I'm stopping here. Good call.
>>
>>557021661
>He has every right to change or repurpose phrases
He didn't though, he just got it wrong. He didn't take input/output and give it totally different meaning, he just flipped it from something that makes sense. It's obvious he got it wrong, and you just want to argue for the sake of it. I'm glad you got moral support from your fellow IQ to gracelessly retreat from an argument you lost an hour ago, but maybe in the future you can show a little more judgement and just stay silent when people smarter than you are giving you an education. This is the most obvious thing in the world and you can't understand it.
>>
>>557021902
>He didn't though, he just got it wrong
nta but you don't know that, he could have swapped 'em
>>
>>557021661
What if he fucked it up by accident though?

Like, what if you didn't misuse piece of cake because you wanted to, but because you're an obnixious longwinded retard?
>>
>>557021950
I do know that, because I have reasonable inference and judgement. Anyone who doesn't know that lacks these things, and really shouldn't be speaking to other people.
>>
>>557021994
>What if he fucked it up by accident though?
Had this been how it was phrased in just the initial printing, I'd be inclined to lean towards this. It doesn't though, the TTRPG books have been revised/rewritten multiple times over the years and even in the latest version tailor made for the video game, the phrasing is still the same. If it was truly a fuck up I find it very difficult to believe nobody corrected him and he himself never realized it over the many years this game has existed you know? The fact that it stayed regardless in every printing to me suggests one of the following:
>He intentionally swapped the meanings from the beginning.
>He fucked it up initially, but decided he liked them the way they were regardless and wanted to keep it that way.
Either of these, he is allowed to do. The idea that he could have fucked it up in EVERY printing from 1988 to 2020 and never once realize he fucked it up or have ONE person correct him is so absurd it's not even worth considering. He has a whole company, a large circle of friends, he even hosts many games himself and surely one person would have pointed this out to him over a span of 32 whole ass years you know?
>>
>>557022038
>I do know that
no you don't lmao quit smelling your own farts
>>
>>557022440
Maybe it's sunk cost, maybe it doesn't matter to him, who knows? It doesn't actually matter. Input/output existed before him, and he just used it wrong. "Why didn't he fix it" is a totally separate conversation.
>>
>>557022728
It's not a matter "why didn't he fix it", I honestly don't care about that. I agree it's irrelevant to the matter at hand. What does matter is that he DIDN'T fix it. He, either from the start or at some point along the way made a conscious choice to have it be this way. The reasons for this don't matter, but the intent does. He has the creative control here, what he says goes.
>>
>>557022671
I do. You don't, but I do. For people who aren't able to discern and don't have any sort of inference, both abilities seem like magic or fart sniffing arrogance, but they're not. It's kind of like how you'll see a dumb theater kid get a job writing, and he's asked to write a smart character, and the character invariably turns into this Raymond Reddington style wizard because to a dumbass a smart guy is indistinguishable from a wizard. To you, simply being able to weigh things and think is "smelling your own farts".

The entire conversation stems from a mistaken belief that he invented input/output male/female, and if anons had realized he didn't this conversation wouldn't even be happening. But now they've declared their position and they'd sooner die than admit to being wrong no matter how obvious it gets.

>>557022904
>What does matter is that he DIDN'T fix it.
No, it doesn't. If some guy writes 2 + 2 = 5 on a piece of paper, and I correctly note that this is wrong, and you mistakenly believe it isn't, that the same guy also wrote 2 + 2 = 5 on dozens of other pieces of paper across the years isn't relevant. Right is right. Wrong is wrong. Inputs plug into outputs. Men plug into women. That is the root of the language. What makes more sense - he just flipped it in his head and it wasn't big enough to correct, or he intentionally flipped it to something illogical, for no reason, just to do it?

A thinking person will know the answer to that question. A moron will insist "golly gee we just can't know golly I guess it could be either hah we just don't know".
>>
>>557023126
It was implied when the original mistaken anon pretended that Pondsmith's misuse of common terms was some issue of author canon, as though using the wrong form of their/there/they're on one page somehow implies a split in Night City grammatical rules rather than a typo.

>Right is right. Wrong is wrong.
Not in fiction. Tomorrow I could write a story where "2 + 2 = 5" and I would be allowed. In that universe I have created, 2 + 2 does equal 5 within the physics of that world now. That's the beauty of fiction, you can quite literally do whatever you want. In Pondsmith's Cyberpunk, the gender relations to input/output are swapped and that's perfectly fine because he wrote a work of fiction.
>>
i dont care about source material, intent, or the "right" of a creator. you are a homo if you pronounce Gif as JIFF.

your sexual partner is your Output.
just like a hobby is an Outlet for you to expend energy and time.

the actual function out an Electrical Outlet and other ports, is irrelevant.
And Output sounds like Put Out.
you went on a date last night, did she put out? Thought she was your output.

Once something is released into the wild the creator has no control over what it becomes and how it linguistically drifts. Especially when another property becomes more popular than the source material and popularizes a variation.

>>
>>557023349
>Not in fiction
Yes, in fiction. When you're writing fiction, you can do things like say dragons exist when they really don't. But when the fiction writer writes "Bob ate the cake", that means a man named Bob consumed a cake. You understand this, I know you understand this, but you want to be deliberately obtuse so you can pretend like you didn't lose the argument and were instead pretending to be retarded all along. When a fiction writer forgets a comma, he just forgot a comma, it isn't because his fictional setting has different grammar rules.

>>
>>557023661
>But when the fiction writer writes "Bob ate the cake", that means a man named Bob consumed a cake.
That's not the same thing. Yes, as written that means "Bob ate the cake" but in my story a "cake" could be a large gemstone. Now "Bob ate the cake" means in context "Bob ate the gemstone". The point is while written implications are set in stone, meanings can be fluid. In a story, "2+2=5" can be true if those numbers don't mean the same thing they do in our world. This logic holds for input/output. You are allowed to swap the meaning if you so choose. Is that always a good idea? Probably not because it can confuse the reader but you retain the right if you want it.

As I have said previously, if Pondsmith had written ONE version and been done with it, I would agree with you that he likely just make a mistake. But for him to create multiple versions over 32 years? Either he didn't care he made a mistake and wanted to keep it that way or he swapped them on purpose from the start. Either way, his story. He is allowed.
>>
>>557024042
>but in my story a "cake" could be a large gemstone
No, this is absurd, and you know it is. You're arguing for the sake of it.
>>
>>557024154
>No, this is absurd
No, it really isn't absurd. That's how fiction works anon.
>>
>>557024224
No, it isn't. Fiction means you can tell stories about untrue events or create fictional worlds. It doesn't mean you take existing words with existing meaning and just arbitrarily use them in absurd ways. This is also not Pondsmith actually did, where he very clearly intended to use it correctly and simply flipped it, hence why he kept male/female meaning in place and just assigned them wrong. This is obvious, it's obvious you understand this, you just want to argue.
>>
>>557024154
he's right though, go ask your precious AI slop bot and i'm sure it'll confirm lol
>>
>>557024485
There you go. AI slop bot confirms you're retarded, only took two seconds to do it. What is the point of pretending to be retarded so that someone will say "hey you retard" on the internet? Is it really that entertaining to be wrong and demean yourself? Is your discord giggling extra hard right now? "Oh man you were soooooo stupid and then he called you stupid oh man kek AND lol!"
>>
>>557024479
>No, it isn't. Fiction means you can tell stories about untrue events or create fictional worlds.
God you're so close. Yes, this is true. But in those fictional worlds, you are wholly allowed to change the meanings of terms as much as you want so long as you explain the new meanings to the reader. There's no "rule" against this. It's creative writing for a fictional (fake) world. Go ask any English professor dude.
>This is also not Pondsmith actually did
We can't know that. What we can know however is that the swapped meanings remained over multiple revisions over a span of 32 years. If you believe he went ignorant for that long with not a single soul correcting him is more likely than him doing it intentionally or choosing to keep it despite the error, I really don't know what to say to you because that's crazy.
>>
i'd rather deal with the jinx schizo than the input autist
>>
>>557024608
>requires context
yeah? and? if you explain to the reader what the new thing means you are allowed to call it that you fucking retard, the clanker just confirmed it for you, stop being so angry and just admit you're wrong already
>>
>>557024708
>We can't know that
There is no "we". You can't know that, partially because it requires thought and understanding, partially because your current clown gimmick requires you not to understand. I can know it just fine, because I can think about it and come to the obvious, logical conclusion that when he used the term with pre-existing male/female meaning, and he used it to convey male/female meaning, that he intended to use the term correctly. Ten thousand rants about "erm acthually it's fiction so blue is red in sanicworld so there!" because you want to carnival bark online doesn't change anything. But you knew all that.

>>
>>557024817
That's not really applicable to the discussion. Pondsmith used a preexisting term in a way that makes it clear he was trying to use it correctly, he failed, and the game fixed it for him. I'll keep saying it, because it's correct. Correct then, correct now, correct forever.
