Cartelliest of the cartel vinnies?
Just finished Sorcery Jokers. I haven't finished any chuuniges before so my thoughts may differ from most reviewers. I really liked the first part. It was grounded and introduced and developed a core mystery and wide cast of characters pretty well, and the twist ending was very intriguing. The second part was my least favourite as it was basically 99% comprised of mediocre action scenes, though the immediate aftermath of Haruto's revelation was good, I like how soul-destroyed he felt. The third part was better as the battles were more meaningful for the most part, and the story was wrapped up pretty nicely. I would say that the main antagonist was underdeveloped and cliche, and Ruu always felt more threatening, though by the end she'd overstayed her welcome. Most reviews seem to focus on criticism of Haruto but I liked him more than Senri. Haruto's story felt more grounded and his emotional journey was well-done, and he bounced off his supporting cast (particularly Asahi) really well. Senri was also good though I skipped through some of his fights once they get repetitive and overly frequent. Asahi was the best girl by a mile. Fiona had the best design and I liked her the most in the first part but then they made her change from a mundane but humanist Christian nun/deaconess whose role was to put the magical violence into moral and power-level context, to another magical power level combatant and I never really liked her much after that. Noah was underdeveloped, but the others were mostly fine. I actually would have liked to see more of the dad. The game also indicated that the government/Ministry was the main driving force of evil, but everyone we met from there was working against it?To be honest the game was simultaneously overlong while also underdeveloping much of its cast. I was rushing through it by the end. Can anyone explain the origin of the magic tree or how Hina was around in the epilogue?
