I reinstalled and then uninstalled again after I got shot as rook out of nowhere about to leave. This game just isn't fun. I'll abandon multiplayer games. I was hyped for this for years, don't believe me I don't care but it was the perfect and I know games as a service are a scam but even then it was my interest on sci fi and AI fiction and space and my love of the og marathon.
Only for this to be the game, I am depressed in general but this is adding up

Ok I think I'm gonna quit the game now.

Rook feels evil to play. I show up and vulture a whole team worth 15k with 5 minutes left in the raid, collectively wasting an hour of their time since they spawned in at 25 minutes. Then I have to watch them helplessly crawl around on the ground bleeding nasty blue shit everywhere, all for the benefit of some faceless organization. Not only that, but they're forced to watch me gun them in the face with my shitty grey pistol with zero attachments because of how long it takes to surrender.

From the grating visuals, haunting music, for the reason you're even on Tau Ceti as a shell... it's just a horrible evil experience.
I've had so much experience as Rook just destroying teams but I cant push myself to do it anymore. I no longer fuck with this game on a spiritual level, I feel like I'm committing an act of pure evil whenever I team wipe a trio/duo. Nothing about this game feels right, it's just bleak.

I've cracked smiles while playing some pretty depressing games, but not once have I felt any amount of joy in Marathon killing other players. And this is coming from someone with 250 hours in Arc Raiders. Call me a pussy or whatever, but yea... I'm done.

How much of this game is peoples first experience with asymmetrical MP (HUNT, EFT, Arc Raiders, etc)? The more I play it, the more I genuinely wish it was just a single player game. Single player with light rogue-like elements. Playing it and the feel of it is very Halo or System Shock. The graphics and style are awesome, but the gameplay of it's multiplayer is just boring as fuck. The maps all feel very similar no matter what area I go to or am in.

But the multiplayer just kills it for me. The random teammates are genuine fucking retards that can't and aren't even paying attention to the screen in front of them. Dying very fast to a team or a group of AI enemies is boring and a complete waste of time.

The game is literally about running around picking up trash and then extracting
I know the title is inflammatory but that is the best way i can put it, 90% of stuff you will be picking up is simply junk. The real good loot is brought in by the players so if you want good loot you have to pvp, i just frankly don't understand the point of this game. The PvP is fun but its also kind of meh.

Genuinely, what is the point of 90% of the clutter items you pick up? Credits should be removed outright because its pointless to pick up 20 creds, almost all kinds of "sellable" items are just worthless, sorry but its just useless to pick them up, they are noob traps because you waste your inventory space in trash.

Also, why is there no mode to play solo against trios? This seems like such an obvious feature, and why is Rook restricted from completing contracts? Literally the most fun i've had on this game so far was running around as a Rook knifing people at extract to steal their guns so i can go on a rampage.

I don't think anyone should be surprised at the player drop desu, the reason why is very evident, there is simply not enough content or reason to even play this game. The only thing i genuinely enjoyed was killing players, everything else is mid.

tl;dr: Remove most useless loot, improve the rarity of the loot to actually make it worthwhile to pick up and increase players in a map DRASTICALLY, this game lives and dies by PvP, you might think you are making the game more enjoyable to people by reducing the odds you will run into another player but you aren't, if this game was all about PvE it would be a completely boring snoozfest.

The thing with tarkov is that it makes sense in the context of that game, the food items are needed because your character actually consumes them, the meds items in that game are special to fix specific conditions.
The gear slows you down so the heavier you get the slower you go, in this way the game allows you to dynamically balance your character, you can carry heavier guns with AP ammo or heavier armor or more backpack space or whatever and it makes sense in that context

Also i want to mention in that game you can pick up "Roubles" "Dollars" and "Euros" which are a big difference because you can buy different gear with the different currencies and money is actually hard to come by in that game and everything is VERY expensive so it makes sense to actually care alot about finding 150 dollars or 100 euros even if the amount is relatively small, here it simply doesn't work because 50 credits in the context of being able to sell a green gun for 1.2K credits is NOTHING, same goes for 90% of junk you pick up, why would i pick up anything at all if i can just loot combat gear sell all of it at the end of the mission and then get more free gear and repeat? There is literally no purpose to most of the gear in this game.

Another thing i want to add is that the guns are all the same retextured, in tarkov you have different performance, more pen less pen and so on, here its all the same, you have 10 guns and they all do the same but the animation looks different.

I’ve been playing for 11 hours now and I have a shotgun, a sniper rifle, some cores, a handful of green shields and 5000$ as well as some upgrades.

I’m trying to think just how long you’d have to play to get a vault that’s stable.

The thing with Rook is that you are actually gimping yourself because you can't complete the quests which allow you to improve your character stats, so in the long term you are fucked basically. Idk if you looked at the upgrade trees when you move things along but you eventually hit a point when Rook basically loads in like a terminator. I enjoy the game but its schizophrenic design philosophy infuriates me more and more the more I think about it. Gameplay-wise the game is completely, absolutely 100% PVP - and yet they wasted so much time, care and effort on exactly the things that PVPtards do not give a single flying fuck about whatsoever.

That's the most important problem with the game. They put all that cool shit in which has a twofold issue, it attracts a kind of people that abhors the actual core gameplay loop as evidence by all the crying in the thread, and it delivers all that cool shit to a core audience of people that not only give a fuck but actively hate.
Tarkov goons live in a brown and olive drab world with rusty ak-47 dildos up their asses dreaming of scavenging inside destroyed soviet buildings, they couldn't give a fuck about colors and sci-fi shit or the amazing ambient sound design and absolutely marvelous music of this game.
So in a quest to bring both of these communities together they fucked it up so badly that they've done the opposite.
The casuals can't stand the gameplay and the hardcore extraction shooter people can't stand the art direction.

It's crazy, they did not change SHIT since the play test

Npcs are still a net drain on resources. Items are still scifi junk that you can't identify at a glance, so inventory management is confusing and annoying. TTK is maybe even lower and players still make zero noise while moving, so whoever engages the NPCs first is basically forfeiting the match.

And there's still a character with invisibility. Just think about how retarded that is. Invisible.

These are the best takes I've seen yet. I'm more of a PVEtranny when it comes to shooters, the whole "walk around looting for 10 minutes and have a 30 second firefight" gameplay of tarkov/pubg never appealed to me. But this game being free this weekend, being bungie, and having a unique style made me give it a try. Obviously it's not the right game for me, but I feel like there are a lot of things about it I like, and there is a game I could have liked somewhere in there.
