it emulates a generic tablet, so we also now have VR sculpting at home.

>>563005961
yeah there are a few. I actually have another prototype mode where the pen pressure is just the analog trigger so you don't have to hold your arm up.

Still just a prototype but code is at https://github.com/hiinaspace/wayvr/tree/tablet-depth-interaction if you want to compile and try it. obviously linux only.

:: /vrg/ SCHOOL FESTIVAL | July 18 ::

What is this?
A celebration of anon’s varied groups and activities.
For one day /vrg/ turns into a full blown school festival, with rooms, booths, attractions and little corners of chaos all hosted by the different groups and friend circles around the community.

Come wander the grounds and visit what anons have cooked up.
Games, exhibits, hangouts, performances, themed rooms, comfy spots, weird ideas, good ideas, dumb ideas made real.
The whole point is to let every part of /vrg/ show its face and make something fun for everyone else to enjoy.

If you’ve ever wanted to host something, decorate a room, run a booth, make a club attraction, show off your group’s gimmick or just contribute to the general festival atmosphere, this is the event for it.
Big or tiny projects, polished or scuffed projects, they all have a place in a school festival.

This is both a social event and a showcase.
A chance to see what all the different corners of /vrg/ are up to, meet people you don’t normally bump into and enjoy an entire map full of anon-made activities all in one place.

Specially if you are currently or have hosted weekly/monthly/occassional events before and currently!
COME AND SHILL, Grow your club, Entice another anon to try what you love doing!

I will distribute 3 template types:
1) Classroom (2x1, 3x1, 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 7x1 sizes)
2) Outside Booth (more freeform size)
3) Gymnasium (single toggle)
You'll be free to decorate within these templates

We'll keep in touch!

Roadmap:
Apr 30 - Coordination Sign Ups
May 15 - Room Ideation Plans
May 30 - Room / Booth 1st Draft
June 14 - Room / Booth 2nd Draft
June 28 - Room / Booth Final
July 11 - Final Testing
July 18 - /vrg/ SCHOOL FESTIVAL

When?
EU - 19:00 UTC
NA - 11:00 PM EST

EVERYONE in /vrg/ is invited.
Whether you want to host, help, or just roam around and enjoy the festival, come be part of it.
Let’s make the comfiest and most soul-filled /vrg/ event yet.

when I was researching how best to do this I came across this research project where they basically tape a stylus to a VR controller and calibrate it against a flat surface. They call holding your hand up in midair the "gorilla arm problem". Could do the same, though I liked the midair prototype enough to try it. logitech apparently also still sells https://www.logitech.com/en-us/products/vr/mx-ink.html though no idea if anyone uses it.
>>
>>563007320
Yeah if you can calibrate the thing to a real table space would be epic. Definitely need a pressure sensitive tip attachment though.
I draw on wacom tablets

But by then why not just use a wacom tablet. I guess cost?

>airbrushing
>pen pressure
I meant like using a real airbrush, which is something 2d art programs generally can't emulate correctly. Real airbrushes have both a flow control and you can hold the airbrush closer or further away, especially when using an airbrush to paint something three dimensional, like a model kit.

>>563007024
use blender and it can have whatever you want

>not wanting to join and smash a volleyball into that stupid big tittied bimbo's face
>>
>>563007547
Right, at some point might as well get a real tablet. I figure this can operate in some middle ground though where if you've already spent hundreds on relatively accurately tracked VR equipment, might as well use that accuracy to draw stuff. It's at least nicer than a mouse.

>>563008145
I see what you mean. I don't know of any full 3d airbrushing programs, I was thinking of https://store.steampowered.com/app/471660/Kingspray_Graffiti_VR/ , which does both distance and flow control fwiw, but i don't think you can paint virtual models in it.

I did also stare at the blender source a bit today, and I'm convinced I can hack in at least basic actual VR sculpting; that'll be my next project probably. Might be able to do VR texture painting as airbrush too; though I know blender texture paint is pretty barebones.

are you sure?
>>
>>563011571
You decorate a room as a group and perhaps optionally shill and present it for 15 mins during the event
People overestimate the effort needed for making a room for a world.
If you manage to make an avatar then you ccan definitely make a room as it is easier than making an avatar.

tl;dr you can put in as little or as much effort as you want, we have enough rooms to share around
>>
>>563009549
I bought my drawing tablet for $20 second hand. Tablets without screens are dirt cheap with how flooded the market is. Well worth it if you want to do any serious drawing or OSU playing.
>>
>>563011169
I will if nobody else expresses interest. we have some good map builders in the community and I've never done this type of work before so I don't want to take the spot and make something half baked because idk what i'm doing
>>
>>563012831
There is no limit in spots to take.
There is virtually unlimited classroom spots more than all of /vrg/ groups/activities can fill
Trust and please do sign up :3

>>563011890

To this anon's point, it may be best to make the signups public so that nobody signs up for the same activity twice.

Hi, I'm plannnig to build slime vr fbt following the meow carrier guide but I can't find these parts anywhere or the shipping is crazy expensive ... Any solution/alternative?
>>
>>563013351
based stations
>>
>>563013209
Can probably make it public. But I was mainly thinking let everyone signup and those who choose the same activity can work together on the same room and or choose another one by the sign up end

Hmmmmm

Also there's the different timezones but same activity thing is something to think about as well.
Since ofcourse each timezone of the same activity will want to shill for their hosted fun activity as well.
