Finally taking my R2Y2's into battles and holy shit they are really good. After playing 262's with the shit 108's and g.91's with .50's for a while it's really nice to just tear the shit out of planes with 30mm's that don't need a ton of leading to use. Extremely generous 600 round ammo count too. I was worried about the BR but it's very manageable.

I want to thank the anon last thread who explained the F4's radar to me. I got into a 1v1 with a F4C in my mig21 and I just turned a flew away from him while pulling maneuvers. He fired all of his AIM7s at me and they lost lock almost as soon as they left the rail. Made it a lot easier

Britain has no real good 6.0-7.3 lineups so you're better off to play 5.3 unless you want to bash a lineup together with 7.0+6.7 so you get the railgun Conway and the ratels until you get to 7.7. How do I do better-ish above rank 6 in Air RB?

I hadn't read the OP links yet but I've been through rank 1 to rank 7 in Air RB- I wouldn't say I am good at it but I had a solid grasp until rank 5. F86F40 of the Japan tree is my last well performing aircraft and it's all downhill from there.

Please, please teach me how to fly beyond that. I just want to fly the F15 so bad. I've tried sideclimbing, I've tried separating from my team and sticking with my team, I've tried doing dogfights I've tried not doing it, I've tried most of the flying styles in my arsenal but rank 6's F104J, T2, F1, rank 7's F4EJ, F5A, everything is just not flying right for me.

It feels like wearing a glove that is too big for my hands. It feels like trying to solder or repair a circuit board with those gloves on. The F4EJ flies and turns pretty well above 700-800kmh range and the F5A is pretty manueverable but I just cannot get any kills. Is it my skills? I have a pretty good KD in my F86F40, I can hold my own in a dogfight, is it something I did wrong? Is it my tactics? But I've tried everything. Please.

Please please please I just wanna get better at above BR9. I just want to get good enough that I can one day be able to fly the F15. Please impart some wisdom into my retarded little brainlet fat matter thing that still can't get this right. I CAN do well in Air AB but I cannot stand the progression.

I know how to notch. I know how to press C. I know how to read radar. I know that at my rank there is no functional RWR.

I know dogfight geometry and my game at it is good enough. I know how to read aircraft characteristics but I struggle to translate numerical data into intuition. I know flying high and fast is always good but I always get 5 way fucked by other radar missiles.

My F4EJ is fresh bone stock with only the compressor purchased and are researching the new boosters. It does not have radar missiles, only a pair of AIM-9Es.

All around good plane and honestly ntb to learn on. The F5C is many wallet warrior's first experience with jet gameplay after all. Its engines are pretty weak and the airframe needs speed to do well. You can take turn fights if you're 1v1 but if you spend too long in it and there are other enemies around, you'll get your cheeks clapped fast since the F5 takes a bit to get up to speed
I respect you playing a tree you like though and not resorting to premium planes right away

Around BR7 is when fights really start pushing towards longer ranged "missile thunder" as planes gain access to all aspect IR missiles and look-down radars that make it practical to use SARHs at low altitudes.

Planes like the F-4EJ are in a bit of a sour spot since it doesn't have access to pulse doppler radar, and it has rear aspect fox 2s. I sort of skipped over this phase with the US and USSR trees by paypigging for the F-4S and Mig-23ML and then learning air combat with their look-down radars and fox2s.

I hate to say it, but the path of least resistance might be to just buckle down and use F4EJ as a base bomber in air RB until you unlock something with a pulse doppler radar. To thwart enemy radar missiles during your approach, start learning the habit to "multipath". Enable your radar altimeter in the settings and configure it so that it turns red at 50m. The effect technically starts at 60m, but it doesn't get good until around 50m. You're looking to thread the needle between ~30-50m altitude. At this altitude your reflection basically causes radar guided missiles to see a point a dozen or so meters below your plane, which can be enough to defeat radar guided missiles from many angles of attack. You might also want to learn how to "pre-flare". By preemptively dispensing ~1-2 flares immediately prior to when an opponent is about to enter optimal fox-2 range, you can spoil their attempts to get a lock and deny them their window to shoot.

After dropping your bombs, try to just yeet your AIM-9Ps at whatever you can. Don't put much faith in them. If they get a kill, great. If not, too bad. If you can find an opponent that doesn't have flares then you can fuck them up, but they're all probably already dead. If you see an opponent climb, then try to get a radar lock for the sparrows with radar in ACM mode. The ground really can't be anywhere close to your sight picture though.

I usually just don't take 1v2s if I'm in an aircraft that can run. If the players you are 1v2ing have a couple of brain cells between them, they can easily stagger their runs at you so you don't have an opportunity to get a firing solution unless you spread your ass to the other guy to do so

Very practical advices, thank you. I do defeat radar missiles normally but I can't when I am out in the open and when chaff hasn't been unlocked (lol). Base bombing is indeed one of the more useful thing this plane can do but however, rushing bases are plenty dangerous and I think the extra weight make fighting against other planes impractical carrying it.

I'll try my best to carry on, though. I think I'm more grasping for camaraderie than anything, but also genuinely baffled by just how bad I perform when I was doing decent in 9.0.

Well the nice thing at 11.0 is most of the IR missiles you see will not have IRCM so they can be easily flared and the radars you see are usually pretty trash
Flying away from an F4 can in many cases be enough to break its lock
Or at least make the missile go dumb
So running is still possible
I would still play the F4 close to teammates though

You shouldn't make any attempts at all attack other planes while carrying the bombs. At most you can attempt to get a fox2 lock in a head-to-head as you fly past. This will be unlikely since your sidewinders have rear aspect seekers, but if the opponent is exceptionally hot then it's not impossible to get front aspect IR locks at close ranges with rear aspect seekers.

I also agree with anon that 1v2ing people isn't a practical metric. If the opponents are competent, then 1v2 is the kind of situation where ground attackers can emerge victorious over a fighter.

You're probably aware of it since you said "most" and not all, but to spell it out for jap anon: Some of the modern ground attackers like the A-10C, Su-25T, and Su-39 have access to advanced IR missiles with infrared counter-countermeasures. Do not carelessly approach them. The russian R-73 is close to unflareable once it gets within ~1km of you, and the american AIM-9M requires an abundance of flares to reliably defeat and the F-4 doesn't carry many countermeasures.

They're individually inferior to kh-25MLs and don't really have much of a place in current game modes. Russian planes mostly have laser designators with limited forward facing fields of view, so laser guided weapons are risky high commitment ordeals. If you are committing to a laser strike, then you want the better 25ML. In both ground RB and air RB, you don't have the luxury of being able to keep making many laser guided passes over targets. Depending on the situation you're usually going to want TV guided missiles/bombs, GPS guided bombs, or rocket pods.

The S-25LD is notable on the Su-24 because it can equip them on a double pylon. If they bring back a "nuclear thunder/Air RB EC" style mode, AND if they nerf SPAA to be less godlike at munition interception, then the S-25LD might have a place on the Su-24 as part of a build that maximizes the number of precision guided weapons for engaging armor convoys. Alternatively, if they make the flakrakrads actually need to fucking reload after 2 shots, then spamming all 4 of them at a flakrakrad from long range should probably overwhelm its missile supply and lead to a kill.

Picrel is a second game i played with it ever since i got back to this game and i menaged to spawn two mi28nm's - one with full vikhr loadout and other with just khrizantemas along with a ka52 with full vikhr loadout for one airkill at the end.
