Most will say Charge Rate, but I prefer Thermal Resistance, the difference per shot is minimal and Charge Rate has a small but perceptible effect on how quickly a basic shot comes out because its still "charges" before firing.

Does it? I've seen gun-focused ogryn in my h40 deal about a million damage with just the GG, between raw damage and DoT talents. With vet, without PBB. And that's without factoring in aoe brittleness helping the team. Seems like a very solid ammo user, and the melee attack gets some limited use too.

Unless you mean how most of the blessings are useless dogshit with too many meme blessings, but that's half the weapons in this game anyway.

The bolters in the game are built for baseline humans, space marines use Godwyn pattern bolters made especially for them. Bolters also have complicated mechanisms and mercurial machine spirits, and ogryns are too stupid to perform maintenance rituals for all but the simplest of firearms, and they tend to use their guns as clubs when they run out of ammo which makes techpriests very mad.

Scum launched with all the defensive nodes extremely deep in the tree, meaning you had to play the first 15 or so levels with just your base stats and zero defenses. Even a lot of (complacent) experienced players regularly ate shit in the lower difficulties. The average pubshitter game was virtually guaranteed to wipe when it had 3-4 scum in it.
They addressed this by moving the defensive nodes further up in the tree, which actually lets you survive the lower levels now. Still too squishy of a class for a shitter to contribute anything meaningful as, and most grief themselves by using a low viscosity crate spam build that genuinely does not do anything besides make penance number go up.

Depends on what you mean. Ogryn players (high level play) tend to be on the right side of the curve because you sort of need to be. However, that also applies to another class: Scum. Scum is much more powerful than Ogryn at the same skill level simply because Scum capacity to scale upward is the closest we have to infinite out of any class in the game. Of course we're talking about not just being good at that point, we're talking about the robo-autist whose entire body seems to be made up quick twitch muscle fibers and is fed a steady diet of Adderall.

Ogryn is a fucking enigma to me. I always like to have one in h40, but it really seems to be feast or famine. Either the ogryn is the best performing player on the team (sometimes even mogging the psyker for damage, if you care about that), or you barely notice his presence at all.
A good ogryn is about as noticeable as a good scum, usually.

The weirdest part about this is that knife is still genuinely very good on zealot, and while not competitive with the relic blade, still good enough to do well in havoc.

And yet veteran is the second least durable class overall, the instant you stop fueling your infinite toughness for any reason whatsoever (such as every elite/special being dead, or having to do an objective). It's actually quite miserable when you're the last one standing and the only enemies the game throws are you are trash, which don't fuel your toughness the same way that exploding a trapper's head does.

I wonder though. Veteran is in a pretty good spot durability wise, so I would hope that skittles are there. I also suspect it'll be more like psyker which has many ways of becoming kind of retardedly tanky, by auric standards. I assume they're doing at least some balancing for h40 so it's either a gimmick or big numbers doing it.

He pulls aggro on enemies, applies debuffs on them and opens up space. All of this is what then enables every other player on the team to do their jobs in peace.

You only get visible controbution from ogryns if they are running full damage build with rumbler spam.

Nah that's usually my job as zealot. I really do mean that I barely notice if/when the ogryn is dead.
What you're describing isn't very common either btw, only actually good ogryns do this. It is actually noticeable when an ogryn's taunt positioning is good (and the other types of builds are DPS rape like you mentioned). Brittleness spam and GG are worth mentioning too.

Also all bolters are 2 stage systems, they have a conventional charge and then the rocket engine.
The normal conventional charge exists is to guarantee armor penetration and lethality at short ranges, while the rocket engine ensures it stays lethal at long range.

People really need to stop and drop this "bolters are complicated", because they are not. They are just guns and work like guns. They don't have some weird magic juju inside them to make them functional. They don't work any different from any other fire arm really, the main difference is in the ammunition.

Only difference between a bolter and rippergun is that ripperguns are intentionally built to be "ogryn proof" so they can take beating from an ogryn using it as a club and it can still function after that. Which is something you can do to any weapon. You can make any weapon retard proof, if they could make ripper guns retard proof they can do so for bolters.

Even Darktide we have Lorenz Kickback and Rumbler, both of which are weapons which intentionally made to be used by ogryns, meaning they can take a beating.
Even shit like a heavy bolter would usable by an ogryn because it is just a fucking brick with controls. They just need give big and strong enough handles and reinforce the structure a bit.

PBB builds are super simple. You just take Fire Away on rumbler/GG with brittleness blessing, and take BLO + Maximum Firepower. Back Off! is optional, but good. Same for Bulletstorm. It just depends on how many points you want to sacrifice from the center, or left side.

Really any risk-free AoE damage/stagger should not exist, it breaks the risk vs reward considerations in the game completely and make it a non interactive cookie clicker experience where you just press a button and get +150 kills without even caring which enemies it was.

Ork freebooter as a class makes zero sense to add.
Orks give off spores constantly, meaning even if ONE (1) ork lands on Atoma, there will be an ork infestation on the planet extremely soon. Bringing freebooters to "help", would genuinely make everything just fucking worse for the the Imperium and Inquisition.
Nevermind that working with orks is always a double edged sword, because no matter what, they will eventually turn on you in a hopes of a better fight because that's just their nature.

You're putting too high an existential threat on ork spores. It would take generations for orks to even appear (if they weren't already on the planet anyway). Even if they were in character aware of the long term threat of ork spores (not everyone is or cares), they can be locally burned out. Given that the nurgle infestation is going to get a good cleansing after all is done it's a lesser issue. Plus it's the imperium, today's problem is more important than somone else's problem tomorrow.
Having some Orks show up and deciding to bribe them into fighting in your meatgrinder now and dealing with them later, rather than fighting on another front immediately isn't the hardest sell.

The problem is that Orks are notoriously horny for a fight always. It only takes them being bored of fighting against the current enemy or a brief lull in the action before they decide YOU look like good fun for their next scrap. That’s why any Inquisitors employing them tend to keep a healthy distance away.

The force sword beam is cool and satisfying. Yet by the time it's charged your team has typically killed everything in a wave besides the stragglers. Playing melee scum I can walk forward through a crowd like a blender. But if there's 1 other effective player on the team I often get 0 hitmarkers because enemies die faster than I can mash lights. If you look at the story campaign, the Dark Communion is the final mission in the 1st "season" of the story. Then we start getting the Rolling Steel and No Man's Land missions.
