Pick your old character or make a new one and go through the story in order. Living world season 1 was added back in.

HoT is your first milestone as that is when you unlock the glider. Path of Fire is your second milestone as it unlocks mounts. Finishing season 4 lets you begin working on the Skyscale helicopter mount that lets you cheese the rest of the game. End of Dragons gives you the jade bot which allows you to stack a powerful buff that gives you 30 seconds of every combat buff in the game every time you enter combat. Some skipfags recommend that you autistically skip around but I would recommend just going through the story in order as intended. The vanilla story is decent (depending on your race, namely if you play Charr) and the story from HoT through season 4 is pretty good.

Blizzard has the resources to upgrade WoW's engine whenever needed. They also gut and revamp the game often.

all high fantasy has battles between light and dark, there's always some big bad dark lord.
it's always world ending calamity that you're trying to avert.
Dark Fantasy I guess would be more "horror" themed, not just an "epic" story of a battle between good and evil, but like supernatural horror themes. When I think of Dark Fantasy in games I'm thinking like VtMB, Diablo, and the Witcher. Diablo I guess is both High Fantasy and Dark Fantasy simultaneously, as it is on another world and has a clear hero trying to save the world from clear evil (High Fantasy), but also has a lot of horror elements (Demonic Possession, literally going to hell, the undead)
Normally I guess aside from Diablo those other 2 examples kinda show when you think Dark Fantasy it's usually less about saving the world and more about dealing with more localized shit.
But I guess there can be overlap.
I guess GW can be somewhat both even though you play the clear good guy rather than a morally grey antihero protagonist.
It does feature an apocalypse, the undead, otherworldly horrors, demons, a hellscape, and a fallen god.
So sure, I guess.

If anything I feel like ive been set free. I was big on gw2 until this latest legendary grind and the obscene karma requirements. I was already peeved i needed 1.2 million karma alone for the leggy ring just so i could rebuy all the achievement/mastery gifts you got for free for actually playing the game since those were originally spent on the leggy aquabreather, and i managed to stockpile like 2.8 million more after by the time quarterly 3 released just by playing casually. But a 7 million asking price for shadowstones when its already asking for tens of dozens of karma to unlock the forgeguard armor or whatever has burned me out. I used to do shit like drakkar daily but it costs karma to convert all the excess eternal ices into usable currency, and im basically being told i have to STOP playing the game in a way that I find fun just so i can minmax karma gains and reach that requirement, only to know that anet is just gonna ask for EVEN MORE KARMA for whatever releases in the quarterly 4 update.
Im just stepping off the treadmill altogether. I cant even be assed to log in for dragonbash to get the new plush backpack/homestead decoration before the limited time event expires, im done. Its literally not worth it.
