I also thought some quests were simply better/cooler in cbt1. Like, in cbt1 the quest where you investigated the Bonekrusher leaders was much more interesting. Truman (if I remember his name correctly) was actually a UWST security officer who needed access to several terminals in Valley-4 to delete all mentions of Collapsals/Blightmorphs. Originally, in that quest, we found out that some people in Valley-4 had discovered collapsals and started studying them, but according to UWST laws all information about them had to be kept confidential. There was also a very interesting plot point that explained the existence of Power Plateau: due to the Originium crisis, Ursus used its collapsal studies to research ways to draw energy from warp and aether via potential transformation, and built an Aethercell. In the cbt1 story there was no natural rift in Valley-4. Instead, Nefarith tried to cause a Chernobyl at the aethercell power plant. It was also explained that Valley-4 isn't that populous because it was originally an originium cultivation site, but thanks to some breakthroughs in aethercell technology, originium was no longer needed as much, so the place declined. Endfield literally saved Valley-4 by signing a deal with UWST and turning it into a joint AIC project, since the Valley-4 Aethercell could provide cheap energy for AIC research.. There were a lot of plot points like that, big and small, that felt like real worldbuilding and mostly made sense. Now they've rewritten parts of it, and the connections aren't as clear anymore.
