Fugetsu-sensei told me that the economy of Japan is not great right now. So what sound like not that much money in USA is a relatively good amount in Japan. The same applies to Korea and PH to some extent. Really, a lot of Asia. It turns out that the current energy crisis caused by the Iran situation is causing several Asian economies to shift. So some people will get money however they can.
Really, the value of the yen compared to the dollar has been a favorable exchange for USA for quite a few years now. But even moreso now than when I was buying all of those pictures on Skeb.

Keep in mind, I don't really spend money on much of anything else besides this. I don't use netflix or doordash or anything like that. I create my own entertainment or just watch shows I already had on hand. I'm rewatching the Gundam 0079 compilation films at the moment, for example, Or I recently finished Godannar, which I started on like 15 years ago and never finished until now. I cook all my own meals instead of ordering out, which has been the case for several years. My mother only makes me pay a small amount of rent, relatively speaking, so it's way cheaper than moving out. I also saved up for a few months before I began this project, so I have a buffer area to protect myself just in case anything goes wrong.

Another huge factor is that I did several years of pre-production. We skipped the ideation phase altogether. I drew well over 352 keyframes, roughly 1,000 in-betweens, and another 300 pieces of hitboxes. Along with the entire script (roughly 20 pages if you only include spoken dialogue, victory quotes, and things of that nature), model sheets for each character including supporting characters, and every character’s lines. This actually helps a lot more than you’d think. Now they’re basically just putting things in place. The workers basically just have to execute the vision rather than create anything since the placeholders already communicate what they need to do.
