The 1% of times it is actually useful is when you can isolate something like Jet Brigade from being able to continue their attack on another planet. War striders seem to cost the same as hulks despite being decently more armored against non-antitank explosives (yes I know a RR/EAT/whatever to the dick oneshots them) to the point that there can be 6+ of them on some objectives. Dragonroaches used to spawn (I think?) every 45 seconds on difficulty 10 when they were first introduced. Lastly, vox engines spawned more than factory striders, which of all my nearly 1000 hours in the game I think I've seen three factory striders get dropped in a single bot drop FOUR TIMES EVER. Meanwhile I saw 3-5 vox engines get dropped in on the regular and that's not including the one or two vox engine patrols that'd inevitably wander into the combat zone. It is what makes me convinced that Arrowhead doesn't play their games on the higher difficulties because there's no way that the devs booted up Oshaune, saw a giant ball of Dragonroaches in the sky and went "yep, that looks good" and pushed out Into The UnplaytestedI'd love to see D-10 have shit tons of lights and mediums with a noticeable increase in heavies, meanwhile as it currently stands the difficulty slider seems to mostly increase the number of heavies to the point that you can have four war striders guarding a rare sample and an arc thrower in the middle of nowhere. It's a bummer that technology limits that so much.

>>574123609The punisher is alright against the bugs, but shotguns will almost necessarily struggle on higher difficulties because their main strengths are stagger and ease of use. They can be nice as a complement to your support weapon, for example taking a shotgun with good stagger and a machine-gun against bugs, and they can work well with your team because you can stagger bugs while they shoot them, but these are pretty niche use-cases when the other primaries are just so much more lethal.
