The golden cactus/golden seed dichotomy makes that certain, plus we go into the shelter and the mantle boss fight and chest rooms form a big 6... And we're skipping chapter 6 on the weird route. There's no secret third route, we just didn't have enough information to truly understand what we were seeing before. However, many people are not reassessing their view of the sword route from the ground up they are trying to make the new information fit the theories that were made with less complete information
