Players dont want turn-based as proven by E33. E33 is not actually a turn-based game. Offensively, it's a QTE game, but you barely play offense in E33. It's almost entirely a defensive game, where all you do is time your Parries and your Jumps and your Dodges and you Gradients to the enemy's attacks, thus making it a real-time game. The turn-based portion of E33 is maybe like 20% of the gameplay being generous but much lower if I'm being honest. It's like 80% active time parrying. Then 10% active time QTE button presses. Then 10% actual turn-based, and of that 10% sometimes you're doing third-person shooting. Thus over 90% of what players like isn't turn-based in E33.

I am sad because Kite's Dot Hack games both are more turn based than E33 and that they had dummy data taking up much of each disk so they can sell 4 games that fit into one disk.

I think the problem you actually have is that it's the very first 3D Zelda game and so they kept the refreshed mechanics mostly straight forward. Look around > gain item > use item to solve problem. The item you find in Woodfall Dungeon isn't needed to kill Odolva, and isn't the item you need to unlock the next dungeon. Same in... whatever the fuck the Goron dungeon is named, the boss infamously in that one could be killed with just the goron mask (until Grezzo fucked it up, or so I heard). Same with the purification plant whose boss could be beaten with just the Zora mask.No clue about Stone Tower, friend whose game I borrowed moved out so I had to give it back to him before I could finish the mummies quest.Anyway, my point is that in these dungeons, you don't need the dungeon's item to beat the boss. Same in ALttP, through I struggle to remember the bosses names. The witch woman that you kill in the palace can be killed with just the master sword, that fucking PONG worm that boucnes off the edges of the fucking arena only takes sword hits to be killed, and I also remember a butterfly that you have to kill with your sword when the dungeon item was a fire rod.
