>>582395750what gaym?
>>582398061Ace Combat 8. More specifically, Ace Combat Online.
>>582393956I dont really care about FOSS in games much anymore. It would be nice since it makes modding easier. But games are just entertainment that I play once and then never touch again. I care more about FOSS in the software I repeatedly use (my OS, the software on it and gaming tools). Those are things I do modify.
Beat Jak 1 100% in under two days, Jak 2 took almost two weeks and I am not going to 100% even though I'm not far off. Jak 2 is one of the worst games I have ever played, how the Jak fans defend that game is beyond me.
>>582408080How was the difficulty, I remember it being a lot harder than the third game for some reason
>>582411978Difficulty is quite bad in some parts. You need near perfect times on some timed sections; it was obvious in a few cases they timed much of it without traffic or NPCs. Checkpoints mostly don't exist and when they do, half the time they are at a spot that only makes sense if they were intentionally being an ass about it. There's a lot of jank that may result in cheap deaths or losses (bad camera angles, bad collision boxes, jet board boost being inconsistent, etc.)tl;dr the game feels very 80s with intentional kicks to the nads and difficulty through repetition.
What are you talking about retarded furball. Have you seen these bonkers?>>582408080>Beat Jak 1 100% in under two daysHow? It took me 11 days, although most of the time I was playing after work for hours or don't even play some days.
Had to install from archive and pin certain 32-bit packages because they're being removed from Arch repos. I hope they'll still maintain basic 32-bit packages like graphic drivers, otherwise it wouldn't be possible to run old shit even in containers.
Faugus kino
They made cum
It took me one hour of troubleshooting to fix gamepad issue I was having, turns out I had to just change 4 values in the mod's ini file.

>big things come in small packagesbased and Ted Kaczynski pilled
>>582418307Eventually 32-bit native games will be doomed by the combination of WoW64 and "dude just use Proton"

>Lo Wangworks on my machine :^)
>>582441868that game isn't possible in this day and age because of the constant Hiroshima/Nagasaki jokes
I think almost all indie games suck. They have no depth because they have a low budget and are made by a very small team (or even just one person). They are only ok if the one gimmick it has is fun enough to repeat for hours.
>>582443624Sir, this is Linux gaming general, you're in the wrong thread.
>>582443812Here, take this distraction
Damn, what the hell, man.>full HUD>weapon sprite shrinks and scaling is off>minimal HUD>weapon sprite scales properly (all 5x6 pixels)>now the crosshair is misalignedI didn't buy a 1200p monitor to NOT have perfect scaling in old games. And I can't even submit a bug report (or, rather, it would be a waste of time) because Raze was abandoned along with GZDoom but only the latter has a new fork.(Did this game even have a crosshair originally or did Raze add one for zoomers?)>>582442614True. But it couldn't be made anyway because fun is a lost technology.
Wow, what a faggot>>582435039Not at all. As long as we have 32-bit drivers you would be able to use steam runtime to run 32-bit games. Although, from my experience the only real victim of 64-bit only world would be native Half-Life since even if Valve will make 64-bit version of it most mods are still made in 32-bit libraries, and running Half-Life through Proton kinda sucks. Any other version
>>582444130DOSBox Staging screenshots for comparison. The weapon sprite scales to 5x6 pixels with both HUD types.(This is Steam's Linux release of Shadow Warrior Classic Redux running in "classic" i.e. DOSBox mode, but with the DOSBox executable swapped out for my own, and I also had to change the configuration because it seemed to be running in some higher-than-320x200 [but of course lower-than-native] resolution by default, which again screwed up the weapon sprite scaling.)
>>582435039>>582444515Any other native 32-bit game better to be run with Proton, there's not much 32-bit native Linux games since Linux adopted 64-bit pretty fast (unlike Winshit) and they're mostly broken anyway.
It's not much, but at least it's honest work
>>582446184>mostly broken anywayWorks on my machine.(I'm half-joking; this is actually a bad example, because this game actually comes with a 64-bit executable as well, and also because I had to remove the included libSDL2-2.0.so.0 to make my gamepad work [although I think that's just because I'm running the Humble Bundle release outside of Steam Linux Runtime whereas the Steam version probably just works]. I really have played several 32-bit-only games that still just work, but I'm too lazy to find one right now.)
>>582448404Last 32-bit games I've tried (except for Half-Life) were Soldier of Fortune and Myth 2. Both require OSS emulation, SoF require hex edition of game's library, Myth 2 barely runs.
Fun fact: Steam's Linux release of Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition comes with 32-bit and 64-bit executables, but is configured so that Steam only runs the 32-bit version, so running the 64-bit version through Steam requires some method of tricking Steam into running a different executable (such as, in this case, `bash -c 'exec "${@/Torment/Torment64}"' -- %command%` in the launch options).Given that Steam Linux Runtime provides 32-bit packages, I don't know if the game's Linux port is in any real danger of being declared broken by people who don't bother to look at anything past the "play" button (and those people probably use Proton for every game that doesn't need it anyway), but it would be nice if the developers would at least configure multiple launch commands. or just add a wrapper script that selects the executable based on system architecture (like the one Super Meat Boy has).
>>582443624Technically you're right that almost all indie games suck, not just because almost all of everything sucks, but also because "indie games" includes a million "my first game" projects on itch.io.I think there are a lot of good indie games though. Even the very simple ones are fun as long as they aren't too long (and it's not only indie games that blatantly disrespect the player's time and overstay their welcome).
I'm now convinced that I had a false memory of having finished Quake II back in the '00s. There's just too much of it I don't remember, and it's longer than I thought it was. I must have finished the first Quake and dropped the second one.
>>582457527>I must have finished the first Quake and dropped the second one.Not a big loss desu
>>582457681lol.I still don't like it as much as the first Quake but it's all right after getting some good weapons. (This is probably heresy but I don't really like this game's super shotgun.)>captchas are slow as fuck right nowI hate the modern internet.
Lots of these assholes in this level...Fuck off, rocket sponge.
I take it back; I like the super shotgun when using it against enemies that actually die.Basically I don't like having to shoot anything more than 3 times unless it's a boss. I'm an old man; I don't have time for that shit.

>>582465749>you have to use thirteenag fix to enable itThat's ok, better than using solitions like Steam Input or AntiMicroX

Should I go for Fedora or CatchyOS?
So the architectural design of this base includes a gigantic stationary laser device whose sole purpose is to blast open an otherwise impenetrable door? Just in case the good guy stands near it? But also it opens the way for him if he happens to not die?

I'd like to say I improved my strategy, but he actually just stopped using his BFG so much on this attempt.

The objective after the boss is to find an escape pod. While looking for it, I found an easter egg. I'm glad I found this by accident instead of looking it up. Much more fun that way.
Cute.
More silliness.
Back to business, I found the escape pod eventually. Was I really supposed to get there by jumping down an elevator that wants to go up as soon as I touch the bottom? Oh well.
Well, that's it. I did it. I finished a video game.I have the two mission packs installed but I don't think I'll be playing them right away. I want to finish some other games I've already started.

This seems to be the reason proton cachyos hasn't been updated in 3 months. Dev is a poor thirdie or something and killed their laptop with water.
>>582417596>How?I just liked the game. I questioned it myself too since I'm usually very slow with games but the game is surprisingly short and the collection log is great. Jak 2 not having a collection log is half the reason I'm not going to 100% it, the other half being I hate the game and lost all desire to touch it after the ending credits lol.I was launching OpenGOAL from the terminal because it was triggering Plasma's screensaver so I don't have a total play time but I would guess the game only took ~9 hours to 100%
>>582517751Should've drank Jaguar instead of water, I can personally attest that a laptop can survive being spilled with that.
anyone itt with a radeon gpu played mh wilds or dragons dogma 2 recently?i tried a couple different proton versions and numerous tweaks, but the games just crash after a while. i thought it was capcom's incompetence, but on wangblows they work fine.

Somebody is working on a ps5 to linux/windows translation layer, like wine but for ps5: https://github.com/boykopovar/AnyPS5 there is one game that is currently playable https://github.com/OverkillLabs/DeadCells-PS5-NativeIt's a good use of AI. AI can automate all of the tedious work and do it quickly.

>in your lifetime, games won't even have graphics beyond whatever input is required to make an AI generate what the developers want you to see>games will change aesthetically based on what AI model is built into your graphics driver>(this will be seen as a good thing because games will just get remastered automatically as AI improves (but we're already close enough to photorealism that nobody cares except the people who want to call you poor on age-verification-protected 4chan for not subscribing to the latest AI))>a few GPU generations after release, nobody will know how the fuck a game was originally supposed to look, because the raw graphical assets don't exist (and even the generative AI inputs exist only the data center from which you're streaming the game to your mobile device)It's going to be a weird future.
