>>582686405I can only speak from experience. I went west to deal with bretonnians and rapanse had a doomstack of knights errant at turn 20. I had to move nagash and arkhan to deal with them. At that point, settra had already destroyed the rest of the tomb kings factions next to him. When I finished with the bretonnians, I had to spend 2 turns recruiting because healing and recruiting sucks ass with nagash. Settra declared war and started ravaging the land. By some miracle, I managed to win the war and right when he had 2 settlements left, kairos declared war. At that point he was strength rank 2. By turn 50 the campaign was pretty much lost. I couldn't recruit, build or fight because the armies are slow as fuck in the world map. Watching nagash killing models with flashing lights and colors is cool but that's just pretty much it

Why don't Counts get any sort of hero in high tier settlement garrisons? For one thing it makes no sense to not at least have a vampire or necromancer actually controlling the garrison, but it also makes them considerably weaker. Even a level 5 capital with fully built walls doesn't get one.

The Dead Rise Again and Demons reforged are some of my favorite mechanics. I like to buff it up as high as possible and they I play reckless. It's like gambling after a battle to see if units, lords or heroes resurrect.

I have finished reading up on space marine legions and their primarchs to form an opinion!The Ultramarines, Blood Angels and Salamanders are exactly as good as I had assumed they were. Though I gotta say, the Salamanders seem to end up being kinda lame in how they skipped most of the action in the Heresy because they got knocked out first and Vulkan spent 99% of it just getting tortured, going insane, getting fucked up again, then being made to stand guard in the Throne Room. In the end, Vulkan's last battle isn't even with the Salamanders either, it's with the Fists.Blood Angels memes about suddenly seeing everyone as Horus are some of the funniest memes of all space marines.Ultramarines are the paragon Commander Shepard of 40k. Guilliman's mom was sweet and I like primarchs having good relations with their foster families that humanize them fuckyouPerturabo.Jagathai was just an awesome primarch, kind of a dick sometimes, but really admirable dude who kept shit real. His chapter afterwards is just kinda meh though actually. Space Wolves are awesome as a chapter, I like the viking vibe, their characters are all cool (specially Bjorn and Grimnar) and I like that they're the only marines that know how to throw a proper party, but Leman Russ is a mixed bag. Good bro at the best of times, absurdly stupid hypocrite at the worst, he's one of my favorites at times and at others I almost wish he'd lost against Magnus instead and had to sit out the Heresy.And Rogal Dorn and the general history of the Imperial Fists was my biggest surprise, I love these guys. I also don't know why exactly but I really like that the whole chapter just got completely wiped out during the War of the Beast and got remade by all their successors coming together to revive it. Rogal resisting Khorne yelling into his mind for two centuries (in his mind) is the greatest MVP moment of all primarchs imo.
The issue with the chaos armies right now is that they instantly regen all casualties after a fight so they are always at full power until they are killed. Because of this, only the player can kill them off and makes it so that the End Times is just the player vs chaos. It doesn't feel like a team effort like back in WH1 because the AI just avoids chaos armies because it can predict that they will lose the auto resolve anyway. Instead, chaos armies should eventually suffer being grinded down by order factions sacrificing armies at them to weaken them so that you can actually feel the rest of the world is putting up a resistance.

I like arthurian vibes in general, and I REALLY like the Watchers in the Dark, cute little fellas. I'm not impressed by the Fallen plot though. It's like the Dark Angels are just high on their own fumes and don't realize that every legion had it's traitors during the Heresy, they're not special for them. Also the interrogated Fallen shittalking Lion by asking where he was during it is fucking hilarious when you consider that Guilliman came back and could explain, but won't because it's embarrassing.And the Iron Hands... does anyone even like them? Why? Why wouldn't you just go for the far cooler transhumanists, the AdMech? Ferrus had a couple cool moments, specially drowning a necron dragon in magma, but ultimately he was just there to complete Fulgrim's character arc, and the Iron Hands characterization starts and ends at "dickheads", but without capitalizing on it like the Marines Malevolent.

I ain't reading that and 40k character drama is weaker than WHFB and that's a comically low bar. The entire Horus Heresy being a multivolume book after book anthology where nerds seriously get into the "motivations" of characters who are pastiches like Mongols riding motorcycles is pathetic. 40k is a fun universe, but its characters and how they act are at best light reading fodder with fun space adventure theming and not some serious attempt at complex character building. I cannot understand that people look at the Horus Heresy books as some titanic work to be understood and not a massive waste of time as no grown ass man in his right mind should seriously believe that there's more than 1 or 2 worth reading.It is impossible for me to understand, it boggles the mind to think that people see some 20+ books of Lorgoth fighting Bogrim and are like "this is worth my time and I NEED to read it"

Skrolk got eatn by Lizards, and I'm trying to find out if Snitkch is alive or not (probably not).
Bretonnia is the most in need of an update but who else after them? I feel that most races have pretty fun campaigns at the moment aside from Asrai but that's kind of unavoidable with how the faction is setup. I would personally like to see some new druchii stuff. Cathay dragon emperor/empress along with new chorf LL would be nice too.Also my cuhrayzee pick would be official grudgebringer mercenary faction.
