I hope we get some cool pumpkachu stamped variants of 151 set cards, really wanna beef out the master set binder.Hoping we get 151 pukachu, gastly evo line, cubone, Hypno, and zubat at a minimum.
>still buying modern
>>56035921Thanks, but I don't think I'll bother at this point. I only have a rough no symbol Caterpie in my bulk box.
Does anyone know what these are like or how thick they are? Are they just penny sleeves? They're by Gamegenic apparently.

One difference between modern and vintage, if you put your cards in set numbered order the good cards are at the back of the binder for modern but with vintage they're at the front.>Anyone like how I put a stamped variant of Snorlax beside the normal version, also I added in the Snorlax beside the card it was with in the Japanese 151 set.
>>56037721Absolute bangers on this page, very unreal it's a work of art really.I can't believe how much people are sleeping on 151 because of "KAAAANNNTOOOOO"
>>56037721>>56037735I added the Paldean Fates 151 reprints or alt arts (I guess) to the back as well, turns out most were baby shinnies so that was kinda neat.

>>56036873Hell yeah
>>56037867you still going to cardshows? how its been?
>>56037879Honestly, not any more. It's a lot of "well i'll do TCG price for it" and if I wanted to pay TCG price, i'll just buy it from TCGP. Mostly buy from local marketplaces now. I got super into One Piece, which is why I left, even going so far as to start playing it (who here hype for OP07 prerelease?) Lost sight/desire for Pokemon for a bit but it recently sparked back up again. Mostly interested in textured mid-era stuff and trying to finish my WOTC holos. And you?
>>56037867I'm pretty close, like 55 cards away from completion, but sadly 10 of them are really rare, and 30 of the others are pretty goddamn rare.
Muh plug so to speak for Japanese booster boxes had a deal going on for 151 and Shiny Treasure ex, which if you bought at least two boxes you'd get a discount for each one so I went for it. I also threw in another box of Crimson Haze, since the first one did me well. I'm keeping one of the 151 boxes sealed for a rainy day. Will my decent luck persist or has it run out by now?
>>56038244First are the two Shiny Treasure ex boxes and yeah, the luck pretty much ran out here. Nothing to really write home about.
>>56038252Next up is 151, nice ARs though I already bought the Ivysaur as a single before, kinda shit SR and the Snorlax is one of the better Master Ball reverse holos you could get value wise. Not too bad, certainly could've been way worse.
>>56038260Lastly is Crimson Haze, got a second Infernape AR, which sucks but the other two are quite nice. The Lana full art was one of my personal chases for this set, so pretty happy with that. Nothing that fantastic from this opening but despite that its hard getting salty with Japanese boxes because of how cheap they are, how much nicer they look and how much less bulk you end up with. Probably gonna take a break for a while to help my wallet recover a bit, helps that Night Wanderer's SARs don't appeal to me much so the only interesting cards there are cheap as singles. Hopefully the next set will be better in that regard.
>>56038252>>56038260>>56038278Nice pulls anon and grats on getting a Lana FA. I agree that japanese boxes have a better appeal not just in quality but also with how affordable they are now. Another plus for me is that you are guaranteed some fixed amount of hits for a japanese box (at minimum 1 sr, 3 ars, some holos) compared to english where the pull rates are all over the place due to people complaining about easy pull rates. These were my pulls from my crimson haze box which I opened on release.
>>56038324Yeah, the guaranteed amount of hits is another great thing with Japanese boxes that I forgot to mention. Fantastic pulls on your end, will need to get some of them as singles myself.
I wonder why AmiAmi stopped selling Japanese TCG?
>>56038333Great time to buy japanese singles since they've gone down in price. Though with new sets, it'd be better to usually way a few weeks to a month before buying singles. >>56038346Might be a hassle on their part to sell tcgs with how people were bulk buying from them during 151 peak. Maybe they'll bring tcgs back once the market has cooled down.
>>56037759His ex ghosted him after they were together for like 3 years kek
>>56037635>>56037690I only sleeve my favorites and best. The rest go standard, and YES that includes rare full arts and so on as they are not my favorite. As for hard sleeving, I don't know about all that. I only do that for things that REALLY are valuable. At that point I just sell the damn thing.
>>56038545Every card that I keep goes in a dragon shield.
>>56038333>>56038324>Another plus for me is that you are guaranteed some fixed amount of hits for a japanese boxdo you think they will ever adapt that to the international market as well? One Piece is doing that too right?
>>56038346is this card only worth so much because it's so lewd?
>>56039116When eng boxes had great pull rates, certain people bitched about the "pull experience" and how higher pull rates devalue the cards and shit. This was during paldea evolved and obisidan flame. Come paradox rift onwards, pull rates have just become so bad that you should just buy singles rather than open sealed unless you have a gambling addiction.
>>56038359Where is the best place to buy jp singles from?
>>56039390Japan. I almost never see any online card shops for them. Some US card shops do sell the occasional single or you can chance it with eBay.
>>56039390Not him but seemingly my only online options as a bong resident are either eBay, CardMarket or Japan2UK.
>>56039883nice to know japan2uk is legit, I was looking at them a few weeks ago but it looked a bit sketchy
>>56040039I was skeptical at first too but nah, they're fine. That's where I've been buying Japanese and so far one simplified Chinese boxes from in the past month.
How should I incorporate these miscellaneous promo variants into my binder? Put them at the back? Or beside the the original card. Also I have a first edition binder and an unlimited binder. Should I put first ed promos in the first ed binder and all the rest in the unlimited?
>>56041134I feel like the prerelease Aerodactyl belongs in the first edition binder as opposed to the unlimited binder. This would also mean the W stamp jungle Pikachu would go in there.
I'm not a user of this board and all I wanted to ask, has the Pokémon card market gone back up yet like what it was a few years ago? I want to sell my cards for the maximum amount
>>56041175The pandemic was a very unique economic time and had a handful of different impacts across different markets including collectable trading cards.
>>56041175Is the us govt still handing out thousands in spare income to card collecting neets? No, didn't think so.I wouldn't expect anything like pandemic prices any time soon.
>>56041175Better sell now. The market is going back to normal. 2020 market is over.
>>56039390Sorry for the late reply, as one anon said, the best place is japan itself if you can travel there. Second best would be through mercari but scrutinize cards and sellers before you buy anything online.
>>56041292Japanese shops are much better, and of course you are headed to Japan. Small shops will have some rare stuff you will never find here. If you do that then you better bring your 3DS, Switch, Pokemon GO so you can load up on some exclusives. Go visit the main Pokemon stores too. Best to bring a credit card or stack up on cash.
>>56041134>>56041147>Top loader binder for unlimited jungle commonsHoly fucking kek lmfao
>>56041659It's the entirety of Base Jungle Fossil and the 1999 BSP cards. How am I supposed to just top load the Holos?Any way in 60 years from now and all the commons are dinged and scratches I'll have minty ones.
>>56041850Those cards were worthless 20 years ago, they haven't changed since and not only that but inflation has also eaten them away as well. The total set won't command value either as only the holos fetch the price. But if you are doing it for sentimental value I mean that's fine and all, just strange.
>>56041850It's just crazy overkill. Using a robust sleeve and a side loading binder is more than enough. The extra level of a top loader binder just adds redundancy and reduces the visibility of your cards. It's "fine" in that you won't be harming them. But the amount of damage over a binder+sleeves is minimal because damage rarely occurs in the first place. So now it's just a case of having a fuck-huge and heavy binder that only holds ~250 cards. Yes, the chance of damaging your cards in top loaders is lower than regular, but that chance was already very low. It's like comparing a 0.0005% chance to a 0.0001% chance.
>>56041860Collecting complete sets & collection uniformity. But you wouldn't know, because you don't actually collect cards you just talk about them online.
>>56041880It's expensive too. Cards that are common unlimited return no value to justify the cost per sleeve. If you have something valuable you put it into a jewel case. Other stuff in hard sleeves or if you have a small collection. Favorites are put in double soft sleeves. Everything else can be put in normal card organizer. Storing the binders in a dry cool dark place is more important. Then there is humidity control which I would say is far more valuable.
>>56041911You retards aren't collectors you're invooosters. You don't know anything about collection aesthetic, premium looks, and uniformity. If those are all 10's well worth the price per sleeve you low income degens.
>>56042044>You don't know anything about collection aesthetic, premium looks, and uniformity.>top loader binderPick one, kiddo. You are the one that has no knowledge of aesthetics and premium looks. >>56042238Still makes more sense to use a regular binder + sleeve. >Not as big and bulky>Not as heavy>Holds more cards>Cards look better in the binder since you don't have all this plastic that looks tacky>Cards look better in the binder since there is less obscuring the holo>Cards will still stay in pristine condition since the chance of damaging them is extremely low >Cards are still nice and uniform
>>56042238Yea anons also pointed that out too. Still doesn't justify a pointless attack on people pointing out something strange. Nobody attacked his collection and sleeves.

Cards also don't curl over time. Assuming you didn't buy a cheapo binder off no-name-amazon or something, binders increase the dead-space on the inside of pages to accommodate for this.

>>56042761I hit it at the start of the SuMo block and never recovered. Sold everything from BW base to SuMo base for about $7000 between 2017-2021 I have no words for my regret. I did keep a good handful of cards for myself tho, which makes me happy. But, some of the full arts, secret rare shinies and old gen 3 exs I miss dearly... oh well. Just finish some other collections and hope for the best, I guess.
Question for people sending in cards to be graded; I looked up how much it costs to have cards grading, and then I saw a price tag for shipping as well, does the cost of shipping as well as the actual grading really justify the price? From what I read if you sent a moonbreon in to be graded you'd have to declare it in the $1500 or less catagory, which costs $74.99 and also hope that it ends up with a good grade. Does the price justify it? Selling it for say $1200, after factoring in the $75 to grade it, the cost of shipping, and ebay taking their cut you're only going to net maybe $1000 in profit. And that's a big assumption that you just happened to pull it out of a $6 pack and didn't buy any others or you ripped someone off with a favorable trade. Is it really worth it for the resale?

I would have just saved my money and bought the cards I was missing. There was also the fact at the time Pokemon US was 2 years behind Pokemon JP. I just got tired of waiting. Then there was the great dropout during AG where everybody pretty much left. I have regrets for it. I should have just stuck to buying a few packs here and there to stay up to date. I picked Pokemon back up anime wise during DP. It took all the way until BW until I got back into TCG.

I think I've realized the only part of this franchise I even enjoy anymore is collecting the handful of cards I like. Games are unbearable, haven't watched the show since I was a kid (S1 only), random merch is whatever, competitive and the larger community is turbo cancer. Really want the Iono but not sure if the price will go down or up desu. Where do you guys think the Perrin and Carmine will level off at?
Why are rarities so fucked up?Why things like vmax/vstar/ex cards worth like $1-3 usually in new packs? It feels like each set has 4-5 cards of value and literally everything else in a set is trash worth less than the pack it came out of.
>>5604957179 is good. Most others are trying 100. Wait it out and see what happens.
>>56049947For playability, higher rarity variants like alt arts and SIRs exists specifically for collectors looking for muh value.
>>56049988I just wish there were more mid value cards, things worth like $10 to $30.I dunno the state of modern YGO, but back in DM/GX days even the shittiest Ultra Rares were still worth like $15. I'm not even an investor fag, It's just nice for your cards to have some degree of worth.
>>56049571Iono is already down to 79 from 100+ even after the release of her paldean fates ver and milk box ver while still being playable on the tgc.Meanwhile Carmine is 97 from 120 in a span of 1-2 weeks and Perrin is at 71 from 84 in the same timeframe.https://www.tcgplayer.com/product/550261/pokemon-sv06-twilight-masquerade-carmine-217-167?page=1&Language=Englishhttps://www.tcgplayer.com/product/550264/pokemon-sv06-twilight-masquerade-perrin-220-167?page=1&Language=EnglishIf you check the week before june though, both Perrin and Carmine were already going down but for some reason pumped up in price (same with greninja). I believe that Carmine and Perrin will go back down to their pre-june low prices of 84 and 58 respectively and go even lower after that as people move on from this set. (Granted, next set seems to be so-so based on people's reactions even to the japanese version of it, Night Wanderer/Shrouded Fable)
>>56049947>>56050022That's what AR/IR cards were for but people started to pump them up just to get more value out of their already shit boxes with bad quality control and even worse english pull rates.

>>56050022SV sets aren't so bad in that regard. Most IRs are atlast $4-5 and there are usually a handful that clear $10, plus a a few gold and FAs that get higher. >>56052617Grading cards only appeals to a certain group. Most people will be haggling down prices anyways. There is also risking the chance of bidding in which you can lose 90% of the value. You have shops who can be a guaranteed income source but the shop will undercut you and then do a markup for a flip. Either way you are not going to get what you think it will unless you are really selling something special or you are in a hype market.
>>56052617not for sale.
>>56052617and if you want one. there is one english copy on ebay. and the asking price is 1500. though PSA claims its only a 800 dollar card. if he is the only one willing to sell. you would have to pay that. so im going to take what you say. and throw it out the door.
>>56052800But who's buying though?
>>560529472 sales per year. which could be more if there was more than 19 pop.so stop being a child and asking dumb questions.
Fucking retards fall for anythingSilver tempest got reprinted, which means it should go DOWN. But instead, pumpers get on their alts and pretend this reprint has way more hits and make the price jump to 5 bucks a pack. All you have to do is post on reddit to pretend your got all of your hits in a couple packs and people will EAT that shit up. How fucking stupid can the collecting community get?????
>>56052617Things only have the value someone is willing to pay for them, so if you value your bullshit graded card at a thousand dollars it's only WORTH a thousand dollars if you're able to sell it. I could put the five of diamonds from a pack of Bicycle playing cards in one of these things and say it's worth two million dollars, but it isn't worth anything unless I can sell it.
>>56052796If something isn't for sale, its value is 0 dollars.
I just wasted another $100 on paldean fates packs.that makes $250 I spend on this set so far.my current goal is just to pull any SIR.somebody help me.
>>56053800For that money just buy the singles.
>>56053800Post pulls. But also like the other anon said, you could've just got even the most expensive singles for that amount.
>>56053834>>56053868I haven't open the 24 packs yet. Will open them in a few days I guess. As I said I just want to pull any SIR and be done with the set. This is not about pulling the zard it's fun opening packs maybe pull something good.I also still have some shiny wants so maybe I'm lucky.I think paldean fates is a fun set
Decided to buy both fighting type Torkoal cards. Somehow I never knew that they fucked up and made these.
>>56053936>fighting type Torkoal cardsI never knew about this boi either, how much did you pay?
>>56053436you know stamp collectors?they will spend ten thousand, hundred thousands or millions of dollars just for a chance to own a really old stampand people like you will go >why would you spend so much money on a piece of paper with ink on it. >its not really that muchjust because you do not value that something doesnt mean its valueless. stamps are a period piece. a piece of history and time. now if you cannot understand the value of some pokemon cards costing more than others. its because you are a modern fag. plain and simple. enjoy your overprinted gainz while it lasts.
>>56052584kino
Modern is always at potential risk of fad collapse.Vintage is solidified its worth by its longevity.
>>56042175Your schlong
>>56054017Oh like 6 bucks and 10 bunchs
>>56054128But they don't own a million dollar stamp, they own a stamp and spent a million dollars. They can't liquidate it,
>>56054377you know, some people collect dildos. they will spend thousands of dollars on big dildos, small ones. horse, octopus, fists and dragon. now i dont care about dildos. no need for them. they are not for men and if men use them it will just destroy the body. so i dont value them. but since your mom is the biggest fan of the dildo factory.she helps keep the lights on.
>>56054271>longevityIt's called inflation. Given time things always go up as the power of the dollar goes down.
>>56035913is there a /tcc/ discord?
>>56053262They really over printed it. They are stuffing Silver Tempest packs in every theme box. My last box had 3 in it out of 7.
>>56054532No, and there never will be.
>>56047696That's pretty cool, do you do commissions?
>>56054395My mom is dead so
>>56053800ive spent like 300 on 151 chasing a zard SIR and havent hit. got the zapdos tho
>>56053262You’re schizing out but this random rumor about silver tempest having more god packs this print is annoying
>>56054271>Vintage is solidified its worth by its longevity.Vintage fags are just like people who shill buying gold. Both markets barely beat inflation and people think holding on to them is a good investment lol.
modern collectors fear the whale collector breaching the surface.
>>56054395Lol, lmao
>>56055001Must've bought the moby huge
>>56054798any reason why?i'd like to share all my online codesi never use them
Does this look better in person? I feel like both of the sub $300 lillie full arts look like shit
I can't wait for the Kingdra promo to come out. Such a nice card. Too bad they picked lame ass Greninja for the other. Kingler, Tentacruel, Huntail, Wishiwashi, Dodonzo -- all better options.
>"booster to sleeve to binder">ask for more photos from the side because card looks obviously bent >seller stops responding >listing disappears
Man I fucking love this hobby.
>>56057578I miss my shiny fug...
>>56056325What's stopping you from doing that here?
>>56057578>Cursed card setup Still like it now?
>>56056452Yes. I really like it I want her Japanese Clefairy one next.
>>56057960i dont like waiting 60 seconds every time i post themi want to equally distribute themi dont like filling captchas every time
>>56058384No one here would ever use them. Go to /tcg/ they'll take em.
>>56056752Nazis not beating the AI retard accusations
>>56058914ive posted some codes in here before, retard
>>56059240So post them.
>>56058264What does she breed?
>>56059132You have to go back
This card sucks dick for $200.
>>56060065biology-textbook-diagram Skuntank is the most soulful art in the set
>>56060502Nah the 2 blaziken cards are really nice for $10 cards.
Why does dragapult EX attack go through manaphy ability?
>>56060651Why are you asking in the collector thread?
>>56059378no, i prefer to send them without using the captcha every time, you fucking jew
>>56060651Manaphy prevents DAMAGE from attacks. It blocks things like Radiant Greninja or Scream Tail which have the ability to hit benched pokemon with their attack damage. It does not block EFFECTS from attacks that place damage counters on the board, like Dragapult Ex or Sableye. It may seem arbitrary but it's an important and explicit distinction for the sake of game balance. It means there isn't a single catchall shield for bench, and it allows the potential for manaphy to be dispatched from the bench by means of effect.Frankly at this point in the game, Manaphy is basically only run because Greninja is so potentially devastating. Jirachi does the opposite and blocks effects that place damage counter from attacks (from basic pokemon), but not direct damage.
I finished my binder. It holds 1000 cards. in this binder, basically everything is random. all the sets are randomized (except 151). I have every mawile card that exists. I need to get another binder, obviously, but I am hesitant to "randomize" it again, because let me tell you that's a pain in the ass when you're finding duplicates you never thought you had. but going by set seems way too unrealistic. I don't want every card from a set. and of there is one card that's like hundreds of dollars obviously it's going to take forever for me to get it. any ideas on how I should go about this?
>>56061824So, for me and some other collectors, we like to establish a collection identity to form some assembalance of self control and restrictive measures. For example I collect cards that are English and released in the year 1999 and don't go outside of that threshold. This allows me to preemptively know what my binders should or could look like and where to leave empty slots. So for me it's basically Base Jungle Fossil and some Blackstar Promos. You said you don't want to do sets, understandable, people should collect what they like. In your instance if it's simply cards you like without specified parameters you can find yourself collecting every card in existence at its limit. Unfortunately without a stable collection identity the random hot mess binder is the collection identity. Maybe dedicate pages for your favorite pokemon.
>>56061824based Mawilechad
>>56061824The way I go about it is finding a theme for a binder, mine include:>specific artist complete collection (Hideki Ishikawa and kawayoo)>specific Pokemon line (Ralts and its evolutions)>full art trainers>rare holos>full art PokemonThe way I organize them is in a rough release order.
>>56055253I've never heard of anyone who collects wailmer/wailord specifically though.
>>56062960I like this one.
>>56049571how lucky was I to pull that perrin from a single pack?
>>56063101I mean, Perrin is going to crash pricewise. However, pulling any 1 single SIR is supposedly 1:400 or something according to tcgplay iirc. So in that regard, super lucky. In regards to payout? Still good, but only if you sell now or before the next set drops.
>>56060065>he bought the inferior lugia cardISHYGDDT
>>56063101If I pulled the perrin I would probably sell. If I pulled the Carmine I would keep it in my collection until the day I die.
>>56063184Bought the SIR Carmine from a friend last week. Haven't played the new games so no clue who the bitch even is but the art is really nice
>>56063207>Haven't played the new games so no clue who the bitch even is but the art is really niceYea the art is a top 5 trainer card IMO. Apparently she's racist in the game so that just makes me want to give her some spic children.
Might be getting a 1st ed Light Dragonite and an unl. Light Arcanine for a copy of Conkers Bad Fur Day, how am I doing /tcc/? I really want the Dragonite for my collection and the Arcanine is a nice bonus.
>>56061824You don't have to have every card in a set to organise it by set number. All my cards are organised by set but I only leave space for the cards I actually like the look of.
>>56063872I organize mine based on type. Some pokemon have different types I just add them to the existing ones. My collection has been that way for a long time and with 1700 cards I just build on the last collection. I also have 3 different binders; one for regular pokemon, one for trainer cards and energies, and one for my favorites and rare cards.
I biked for 6 miles to get some Evolving skies tins from walmart and they didn't have a single one.
Some old stuff, haven't bought anything besides a pack or two in a while
