I quit playing comp and being invested in this franchise once my bros like Gyarados and Aerodactyl stopped being viable in Gen 7. What the fuck is even the point anymore? GF just forces cancer each new generation, and makes the game more gimmicky and unfun just like Yugioh and all the other jap games that have tons of power creep. I'm a main quest casual fag now. Honestly Gen 6 was the beginning of the end of comp being fun. Fairies and the start of generational/regional gimmicks ruined the balance of the game. Fairies should have been a very rare type like Ghosts and Dragons were in Gens 1 and 2 rather than a heavily spammed type like Ice, Flying, Ground, and Poison.
