It's been 3 generations of literally just this to one extent or another and I'm fucking tired, fuck dude just let me adventure through cool set pieces and lands with my Pokemon bros in peace instead of having to put up with the same bland cardboard tropes and characters, SV did okay with Arven and such but please try something new instead of wallowing in the same pity party crap.

I don't mind the family stuff, gen 7 and and 9 had some of the more interesting story elements compared to the Masuda era. It feels more authentic coming from sonebody who's actually experienced it, and lots of others will relate. People loved Lusamine's batshitness (until USUM neutered her), and Arven as a whole.

I honestly fucking loathe stories like the ones Ohmori tells because they make it feel as though the player has no agency and that their existence doesn't really matter, it's just a vehicle for the plot and exposition, I know Pokemon is a "roleplaying" game and has been especially self-inserty these past few gens, but it would be nice if the MC had actual standout moments or some interesting plot related to them, gen 3 had a neat one where your dad was a gym leader and it felt more than any Pokemon game that your journey through Hoenn was the MC's right of passage, it wasn't anything special but it was neat, fuck that was supposed to be the point with Alola but thanks to Lillie hogging the spotlight and trials being so shit it fumbled extremely hard.
