To those that played these romhacks, what do you think of them?

I played them, they're good fun.
The main draw is obviously the fakemon (which are expanded upon in Vega) but they make the retread through Hoenn a LOT more enjoyable since there's a pretty good number of them scattered around.
The story is whatever, Hoenn is hit by the meteor and most cities are now in ruins and certain routes have been altered. And there's a new evil team yadda yadda yadda. It works.
There's also a beefy postgame in Alto Mare from the movies that has you doing an easter egg hunt (i looked this up on youtube it was too hard to do on my own) and going thru this gauntlet of puzzles to get Asphere (i looked this up on youtube it was too hard to do on my own.)
It's clear most of the effort went into the fakemon and they're great but if you don't care about fakemon there are probably other hacks out there that are more ambitious.
My team was Correncid, Goabalt, Bakeko, Kapwondo, Aurostice, & Solarisen.

oh and play the minus version, it has a level curve far closer to normal pokemon and will save you a grind
