took me 22 years to realize that the berries introduced in rse are just anagrams of real world fruit

To be fair, some are based on Japanese fruits and vegetables that are never seen in the West.

Do you think we'll ever get another batch? We got the hoppo berry in pla, and the mutation farming mechanic in gen 6 along with 3 new berries, but the last time we got a whole bunch was gen 4.

fucks sake the payapa is only named in english after the papaya, it's actually a fuckin calabash because the localizers were retarded and forgot the iapapa existed literally a generation prior
>>
you know I always thought berries were kinda gay and lame. Not intrinsically so, but they just seem like a retarded thing to focus on, especially when they keep adding more abilities that focus on it. Like, Mewtwo got Unnerve as its "new, busted" hidden ability... that prevents other mons from eating berries... lol

Cheek Pouch, Harvest, Cud Chew, Gluttony, Ripen... all are so lame. Maybe if berries were the only items we had access to but they keep adding things objectively better than berries like the terrain seeds and booster energy. It's just so dumb. either buff berries, buff all berry-themed abilities (AND MOVES, THERE ARE BERRY MOVES, LIKE BELCH AND TEATIME), nerf all other items (which frankly should have been done long ago, item meta is busted as all hell), or make berries the only valid items for tournaments or something. I don't know. It's just really poorly handled right now.
>>
the event-only gen 3 berries look fucking weird

that's not anagramic

Unnerve is broken in As-One in Doubles.

The Enigma Berry always looked legendary to me, in tandem with its unique effect that sounded amazing on paper.

For one thing, yakub is pretty busted regardless, and another, nobody really cares about doubles, it's always been less popular than singles.

>>58238433
Yeah, they're pretty uncanny

Is Shuckle the thread image because he turns berries into juice or because hes making a silly face

What bothers me more is how they went the extra mile to come up with reinterpretations of RL fruits (because Pokéworld =/= RL world), but then keep fruits like apples in the games. SwSh added more apples, and SV completely dropped the facade by bluntly introducing ingredients like avocados or bananas for your sandwitches.

I know, GF sucks at worldbuilding.
