Does Gamefreak know Mega Evolutions were only beloved because of how COOL they were? It's like they did zero market research or don't care anymore. I'd want them to do Pic related but no, they're more likely to turn its hair into a big afro or something stupid
>>
I'm not sure
>>
>i was 7 in 2013
And had you been an adult, you'd have understood what they really were.

17.
The cool ones were beloved, the stupid ones were mocked. It's revisionist to say otherwise, they were for the kind of people who prefer Mewtwo over Mew, or who like big Kaiju evolutions like Tyranitar and Hydreigon over shit like Wigglytuff and Shaymin.
And they were extremely good at that. Some were good enough they could be featured in Digimon or final fantasy like Mega Absol

This was "cool?"

Mega Evolutions had some real duds since the very beginning. See >>58249872
But yeah, I don't like the direction Pokemon has moved in. It should've stayed a boy's series, focused on cool designs, instead of going so far into making cutesy or lolsofunni designs.
>>

It was a walking meme, some were. But Ampharos becoming gay and fabulous kinda gets a pass, it was kind of unique at the time (now there's dozens of faggot Pokémon)

I imagine someone GF employee brought the idead of a winged Rapidash, but the people in charge said, no, too obvious, this wouldn't surprise anyone.
>>
>>58249872
this is still what I think of as the poster child for mega evolution
>>
>>58249843
Pokemon is the most popular monster franchise because GF always tries to introduce/expand upon ideas in Pokemon in a much more clever way than just turning a horse into a pegasus. That lack of creativity is what holds a lot of fakemon artists back. Look at Emerald Elite Redux's Mega Rapidash, it's not amazing, but it beats that one by a lot.

>implying it wasn't gender-neutral from the start
I'm bored of lolsofunni but don't forget KANTOOO had three lines of pink blobs for girls
>>
>>58249930
I would rather have a pegasus than whatever fuckass "creative" ideas they have
>>

There were never any cool megas. Also, 17 in 2013? Zoom fucking zoom. I already owned two houses by then. Pokemon died before you even entered preschool.

GameFreak literally regrets making Ampharos so much it’s scary. Look at how they massacred everything that makes him Ampharos and replaced it with Flaaffshit. It doesn’t even have FINGERS!!! Look how fat his arms got! And holy fuck what an abysmal botch job on the ears. 0/10 GameFreak literally wishes they could just make a Mega Flaaffy so we get this abomination. Ampharosbros, we lost…..
>>
>>58249872
This was and still is like one of the most popular megas though
