Why are Pokémon fans acting like dlc before the game is out is something new
They were told DLC is bad despite the fact they willingly buy games that withhold content for future release (or sometimes never like half the planned Gen III events)
>>58249849Because this is the first time it's happened to them in a mainline game, and it's a foreboding sign that Pokemon's about to get even greedier come gen 10 onward, especially when combined with L:Z-A also testing the waters with a battle pass system for exclusive items, the Kalos starter Mega Stones.
>>58249849No one is acting like it's new, but it's still bullshit to lock the postgame behind $30.
>>58249861DLC isn't necessarily content that was withheld, but often times ideas that came up too late in development to juat be added in.
we know they do it, but this is the first time they don't even bother with a smokescreen. it's insulting
>>58249849Nobody on /vp/ actually plays the games anymore, the people who do play the games mostly left /vp/ because discussion got too toxic after Pokemon Go released in 2016.Announcing DLC before a game is out is a bit scummy, but it's to be expected, its clear GF wants to treat mega reveals like smash reveals, and smash ultimate famously announced its DLC before the game was even out to keep the "hype cycle" of speculation on who would get in going.I imagine the leaks leaking every single new mega in the base game probably pushed them to do this sooner, since announcing the Mega Raichus in the DLC is literally the only thing they could do to fully surprise people with new megas, and does its job of continuing the mega speculation even if everyone has already known for months who will be in the base game.
>>58249892thisdoesn't help that they're specifically labeling it as an epilogue, which means there's a very real chance they're just going to leave a bunch of loose threads hanging so they can sell them to the consoomers later
>>58250095SV had several, SEVERAL, loose threads, and jack shit was answered in the DLC.Hell, every fucking mainline had loose threads, and none of it was ever answered even when they released a 3rd/upgrade version.
>>58249849People here call themselves fans despite not being willing to pay the bare minimum for quality content (yes, Z-A is in fact quality content). If we want to support the future of good games we have to be willing to pay for it. We all know DLC was coming, so what exactly is the issue with announcing it early? The answer is none. There is no issue. DLC is a business practice that helps good companies stay afloat because a game needs to be good for people to like it. Otherwise they won't pay for the DLC. The fact that they're this confident about revealing the DLC already should tell you that they're certain people will enjoy it.
>>58249867we don’t know what the DLC is yet thoughhow can we say it’s postgame stuff
>>58250108and none of the mainline games have ever designed and pitched the DLC specifically as a continuation of the base gameso now we can look forward to potentially even more loose ends
>>58249861>They were told DLC is bad despite the fact they willingly buy bad stuffSo DLC is still bad, I see.
>>58250108>time travel vs imagination war when base game comes out>dlc announcement implies we’ll finally get an answer>dlc releases>there is no answer and if anything they just made it more confusingZA epilogue is gonna be coherent though
>>58250115it's specifically listed on the site as being postgame content
>>58250131>selling what used to be freeThey're going against the #1 rule of marketing and they'll still make record breaking profits because NPCs have zero standards.
