>finally get a pokémon game based on your country
>it's just a minuscule part of the country's entire map
>>
Not to mention the santorini area will cease to exist in real life soon
>>

I've been thinking the same ever since the tera leak...

Didn't hear muricans complain about that with Unova.

this is how its supposed to be, the first 5 regions were "REGIONS" of a country rather than shoving an entire country into one region.
It makes them pull from nicher locales and animals, it's by far the superior way to do region design. Is it any wonder that once they started condensing entire countries into regions, the depth became piss poor?
>>
>>58251976
The US is fucking enormous. It makes sense for Unova to be based on a single state rather than the entire country. If we got a game based on Australia or Brazil that would be expected as well.

Greece however is basically the same size as France, the UK and Spain. Why do those get most of the country turned into a region, but Greece doesn't?
>>
>>58251979
In the past they would've done a region just for Catalonia, today they condense Spain & Portugal into one region.

who cares what country they pick itll be shit regardless
>>
>>58251986
A better argument would've been that they'd never revisit Greece to make another region after they're done with gen 10. If they want to make more of Greece during gen 10 they'll have the inevitable DLC.
>The US is fucking enormous. It makes sense for Unova to be based on a single state rather than the entire country
It's not even based on the state of New York. It's just the Tri-State area.

Galar is so weird. UK sorry.

>Pokemon has done 3 games set in US territories
>2 were the most entry level tourists trap places in the country
>The other was the middle of fucking nowhere

I DEMAND justice. I want a Pokemon game set in the US that is a mix of Appalachian, the Pacific Northwest and the Great Lakes. There's tons of folklore, history and wildlife to use for concepts.

>Sasquatch roaming legendary
>Lapras variant that's water/dragon based on Champ
>Mothman pseudo legendary that's Bug/Fairy/Dark
>Split Evo for Elygem that looks like the Flatwoods Monster that's Electric/Psychic
>They'd never do it but an Applin evo variant based on Apple Pie Moonshine that's Grass Poison with an ability that's poison touch but with confusion instead of poison
>>
>>58251994
Your pic conveniently forgets to mention how the post-game island has tropical climate despite being at the same latitude as the ever-frozen area...
>>

Nah the first DLC will be in Egypt and the second half in India. Mark my words.

tiny irrelevant islands that are visited once for 30 seconds and never again

The correct answer is that the northern routes of Sinnoh are snowy because the wind blows snow down from Mt Coronet
>source
map description from the games
>>
>>58252123
huh cool
literally the opposite of how real life geography and weather works but that's neat i guess
>>
>>58252086
>volcanos turn the climate tropical

Ah yes Iceland and its famous tropical climate
>>
>>58251912
It's great actually.
>See the first 4 regions Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh, the most complete regions by far, 4 parts of Japan.

>Now see the Paldea which IS Spain AND Portugal, realistically the biggest region so far.

It's a bit of a shame they're not including mainland Greece too, since it’s such an interesting place with lush vegetation — BUT this is actually a good thing. If they used all of Greece, these particular islands would end up tiny, like Sootopolis. Now these 'small' islands will get a lot more detail, with each one being about the size of the four Alola islands COMBINED — plus Gen 10 will have at least eight islands, with smaller ones scattered in between. And let’s not forget there’s going to be a strong focus on both ocean exploration and the sky experience.
>>
>>58252187
>these 'small' islands will get a lot more detail
aw man, who's gonna tell him
>>
>>58252123
Now explain why the sea surrounding Snowpoint and the postgame peninsula is full of icebergs/is frozen over in the cutscene, yet the peninsula itself is tropical.
>>
>>58251976
>>58251986
Also, even though it's a spinoff, we got Orre (pokemon Arizona) years before it so east and arguably west have had it. Do any other spinoffs show real world regions like the Ranger series?
>>
>>58252075
Hawaii could have been way better had they made actual areas instead of the fucking hallways they did. Volcano National Park as an entire area would have been amazing, but they made it a fucking black transition from the tour bus area to the peak with no interior.
>>
>>58252086
That’s not how that works. The real island the battle zone is based off of has frequent volcanic activity and it’s cold and snowy as fuck.
>>
>>58251912
Not just that, but half of the leaks about Gen 10 state that a bulk of the islands are going to be based on previous regions, so the region is going to have little to no original identity. Guess it makes sense because of the 30th anniversary, but it sucks that the region's schtick will be "this island is like Kanto, it has diet Saffron City!" and "that island is like Hoenn, see the volcano?!"

I'm sorry, my Grecian friend, for the double tragedy of a region based on your homeland.
>>
>>58252263
The ranger regions are based on much smaller parts of Japan. Ferrum in Pokken is also based on an Island belonging to Japan.

As others itt have said, this is a good thing. That being said I wish they would follow up and connect them more often like kanto & johto.
>>
>>58251912
That's a good thing, dumbass! Just look at the Euro countries! Is that what you want!? They are called regions for a reason! An entire country is NOT a region!
>>
>>58253603
a region can be multiple countries such as Latin America. Obviously that's not what they had in mind when they based the first game map on Japan's Kanto region.
>>
>>58251912
so literally every region except kalos, which is still less than half?
>>
>>58252276
Awful if true (and probably true since awful)
>>
>>58251986
You give balkanites any sort of modern state recognition and they will cause as much drama as they can with schizophrenic interpretations
>>
>>58254799
I now want a yugoslav region

The US got Arizona, New York, and Hawaii represented. And there's still room to visit more states. I'd be shocked if GF never does a California region, for example, considering how often they host VGC events there.
Greece is probably only gonna be visited once, so missing any part of it means missing it forever.
>>
>>58254825
What is blud even yapping about :skull:
>>
>>58251972
The seafloor is rising due to global warming. Florida is slowly shrinking too.
>>
>>58255511
>Greece is probably only gonna be visited once, so missing any part of it means missing it forever.
if the cyclades are somehow a region then I'd still assume mainland greece would get used in the future. if mainland greece is done first then no way in hell are they coming back for the islands.
>>58254799
the only likely scenario is macedonia getting to be part of greece for the sake of alexander the great or GF doing an east/west thing with the bospherus if they get to istanbul.
>>
>>58252264
Aye.
I adore Alola, Sun was my first Pokémon game, but the only islands that ever once felt like it had a sense of actual scale to it was Poni, and even then, that’s entirely because of Vast Poni Canyon and the attached areas, outside of the gauntlet that is VPC and the altar, it’s a total nothingburger
>>
>>58252075
>Sasquatch roaming legendary

Regional/convergent Abomasnow that's Grass/Ghost and has Wonder Skin as its ability
>>
>>58252604
We need one region between Johto and Hoenn and another between Kanto and Kitakami
>>
>>58251994
While sinnoh is obviously a bit guilty of this too, It does annoy me how every region now just has every biome like its a fucking Mario world map. I understand you want to have places that make sense as habitats for a variety of pokemon but it really just robs each region of a unique identity.
>>
>>58256883
Not to mention ice and ground pokemon can just life in some caves
We don't need deserts and tundras in every region
