Why was this even a debate? Arceus, the creation trio, the aura trio, or Necrozma don't even have to get involved. All the lions can just be hypnotized by Malamar into killing each other.

Even if they all suicidally drowned to make a bridge, that'd be much slower and it wouldn't stay together. The pokemon probably only need to swim a few kilometers to the nearest island. Pleanty of pokemon have crop planting abilities so they can all live on the island for as long as they need to. They'll only need to for about 16 years as that's the max age for lions in the wild. Ignoring all the catastrophic affects that the hundreds of millions of non drowned lions will have, few may even make it that long. That's like declaring a boxer the winner of a fight because because he moved to europe and their opponent starved to death waiting in the ring for them. Fighting to the last man until a victor is determined is sort of the point of a versus fantasy match. Otherwise it's just more of a "put everyone on the same planet and see which one survives longest" match.
