How are we feeling about 7 total megas being locked behind ranked battle seasons and NSO?
>>
>>58714409
I can understand an argument about the first four but I refuse to believe that anyone can be upset about the hoenn starters without it just being an excuse to be mad.

Especially blaziken which was also in xy even as a pre-order bonus or whatever it was.
>>
>>58714409
It's bullshit.
>>58714427
Just because blaziken was the odd one out once doesn't mean it's OK to make something that was originally included in the previous game without the need for online services the latter mandatory.
>>
>>58714409
Oh fuck off Game Freak
>>
>>58714409
oh no, I have to play the game? What a joke. Why can't I just have all the new toys at once so I can go back to complaining on the internet
>>
>>58714409
It’s a bit annoying but I’m not going to pretend to be that upset over Megas I don’t intend to use much lol
>>
>Blaziken last

I can accept that
>>
You don't hate Pokémon enough
>>
It's less consequential than the Kalps ones, because they are post-game DLC. Still not a fan of the decision.
>>
>>58714440
>online services the latter mandatory.

You know what you can do if you want the hoenn starters.... play the 11 year old game they came out on.
>>
>>58714450
playing the game isn’t the problem, the retarded time gated season system is the problem
>>
>>58714409
desu I’m kinda glad because this DLC doesn’t seem worth it at all so I can just get the Mega Stone from ranked and trade in a Hoenn starter
>>
Are these just time limit or how are we supposed to obtain them when their acquisition date has passed?
>>
>>58714497
You'll get them as lower rank rewards. The new ones are obtainable at rank S or something and the older ones at rank W or lower.
>>
>Chesnaught season ends at December 18th
>Baxcalibur season will be from December 19th to January 8th
>Sceptile season will be from January 9th to 29th
>Swampert season will be from January 30th to February 19th
>Blaziken season will be from February 20th to March to 8th
They will announce Winds and Waves at Pokémon Day (a week after Blaziken's stone is released) so it would be kinda weird to still lock megas in Z-A postgame after that, right? I guess we can assume those seven megas are the only ones locked by online and they aren't gonna announce Mega Golurk being locked too later, or something like that
>>
>>58714482
Actually not really, you can always get the stones online with the base game and trade for them with someone who has the DLC, just like you didn't need Expansion Pass or The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero to get Regieleki, Calyrex, Fezandipiti, Terapagos, etc
>>
>>58714483
>Just stop holding devs accountable to their standards they established.
>>
It's incredibly gay to lock content behind online conpetitions instead of making them available in the game itself (and it affects the replayability of the game since some time down the line these stones will be unobtainable, GF treats their new games lile disposable slop) and anyone who says this is good is either a massive shill or ragebaiting on 4chan
>>
>>58714531
this
just look at gen 5, it barely has any content now because a giant chunk of it was locked to online
>>
>>58714577
wut? the whole after story with looker, memory link to get Ns pokemon, the frigate episode with corless..... there is still a ton of stuff in B2W2
>>
>>58714409
I complained about this shit until I actually did the Battle Club shit. My first time playing I got up to rank U at the end of the match and the second match got me to Rank P. This was with a non EV trained adventure team, too. I got all three of the Mega Stones for the Kalos starters in like 15 minutes. I have no idea why I was so against this to begin with, this shit is easy on the earlier levels and it really doesn't matter that you have to do it to get the stones, honest to god. The only issue I have with it now is that I don't like the idea of having to come back once a season to get stuff, but that's literally the point. They want us to engage with the game for 15 minutes a month or whatever. Which is annoying, but I honestly care so little at this point because this shit is so easy.
>>
>>58714427
I'm actually bothered by it, mega blaziken's my favourite so not getting to use it for the DLC sucks, yes I get it already got the biased treatment in XY so that's why it's available last now but it doesn't change how I feel
>>
>>58714512
>and trade for them
I don't think you can trade the stones in ZA, kinda seems like they're treated more like key items
>>
>>58714638
The pokemon I mean. You trade for the pokemon and fight online for thr stones, online rewards aren't linked to DLC, even if they are introduced along DLC.
>>
>>58714665
Anon, the reason /vp/ is so upset with ranked rewards as a thing is because they're too poor to pay 20 dollars a year for online. It doesn't matter you don't need to buy the DLC, you need to buy online and baba can't even afford that, hence the seethe.
>>
>>58714485
We've always had time gated Pokemon. It's obvious that's less of an issue when most people only complain about having to play the game, or having to pay for online.
>>
>>58714671
The original post I replied to >>58714482 is precisely about the difference between these and Kalos starters' megas. So yeah, both trios being available via online without purchasing the DLC does matter (according to his logic at least)

I pay for online and still think it's retarded but okay
>>
>>58714701
>i am the whole of /vp/
And I've been paying fro NSO since they started charging for NSO and have no issue with any of it or Nintendo's games using it. But still and all /vp/ as a whole are mad because they're poor. You should know by now, unless you're actually part of the user majority, such broadstroke comments do not apply to you. I'm WELL used to falling outside the purview of the algorithm's targeting.
>>
Link cables were around $30 USD for Gen 1
$20 for online is better thoughbeit
>>
>>58714450
That'll be $70 + $30 + $20, thanks!
>>
>>58714900

>>
>>58714900
This shit still amazes me, holy shit Gane Freak knows wholeheartedly that fags will buy it anyways, this shit would make EA blush
>>
>>58714919
Ah yes because EA games are famous for not requiring PS Plus or Xbox Live and also not including any DLC or microtransactions whatsoever. Great post.
>>
>>58714450
Unironically this.

Wagelets will complain about having to pay for online (which they already own, along with Netflix, HBO Max, Hulu, Dash pass, Gacha game subs, etc...), while ignoring the 10 trillion billion other games that do the exact same thing, because they read a news article telling them to be angry about it

Its a non issue. Only minor annoyance is it takes a bit longer to get than normal.
>>
$35 for a couple of new megas is probably the biggest jew move they've ever done

Are the faggots in this thread being disingenuous on purpose or do people seriously like being dripfed megastones? It's not about having to pay for online or having to go back to the game, there's zero reason why you should have a wait over a month for non-event legendary megastones for Pokemon that are otherwise obtainable through normal gameplay.
>>
I'm glad I didn't get ZA

I can understand an argument about the hoenn starters but I refuse to believe that anyone can be fine with the first four without it just being an excuse to suck GF cock.

Especially the Kalos starters which were also in xy as the starter Pokémon
>>
>>58714409
As long as the Hoenn twats are the final batch, I'm actually happy they're taking the fall because it means I'll actually get to see and use most the new Megas in the Mega Dimension campaign, contrast to how I've literally never used any of the Kalos Megas outside of Ranked because I was already well finished with the game by the time I was ready to get Greninjite.

Something you do for one hour once a month for the Mega Stones since they locked them behind it. Or are you trying to imply ZA Ranked is actually fun?
>>
>>58715261
They all pay for shit, they just forget they have 30 active subscriptions. It's only a problem when they're actively reminded about spending money, like making a one time purchase, or when they see news stories about prices being raised one whole dollar
>>
>>58715279
>Or are you trying to imply ZA Ranked is actually fun?
yes, it is
>>
>>58715302
It was fun until Xerneas became legal, now it's just Deer Meta all day every day and nothing will ever make Xerneas off-meta because it's simply too fucking good thanks to Geomancy and a generous trifecta of Moonblast, Thunder and Focus Blast.
>>
>>58715312
Mewtwo's better in the 1v1 due to Geomancy's slow boost speed and Psystrike hitting its weaker physical side. They have about equal meta share, realistically.

I agree that when it was just Xerneas, it was repetitive, but Mewtwo's presence alleviates it. It also makes Yveltal an actual relevant (albeit uncommon) presence in response to Mewtwo.
>>
>>58714932
Saying this after what the digimon dlc is funny, Pokémon fans are entitled babies
>>
Why are people acting like this wasn’t the case for Gen 6 and 7? Mega Blaziken was time locked and SM locked Megas behind online tournaments. It’s the only reason I even bother with ranked.
>>
>>58715338
Remember how Digimon announced DLC pre-launch, and no one gave a shit because every game does that, but then when Pokemon did it, suddenly it was this new low the industry had never seen the likes of?

inb4 "i-i-its still wrong then!" cope, trying to act like they actually cared all along

>>
>>58715348
>suddenly it was this new low the industry had never seen the likes of?
Nobody said that. People said it was shit, which it is, not that other companies aren't doing it.
>>
>>58715345
If you want to extrapolate more broadly, it's been a thing since Gen 1. Remember when, to get wholely unique Pokemon, you had to hope that a location nearby was doing distributions, and then spend time and money driving out there to wait in line to get them manually injected into your game? And how, mere day(s) after the event, they became permanently unobtainable? Zoomers itt wouldnt have any idea, since they've had an iphone since birth.
>>
>>58715354
>zoomers don't put up with the garbage boomers do
Zoomers being based for once
>>
>>58715348
What’s even worse is the Digimon DLC is the equivalent to the mega Diancie and Mewtwo events that we got for free. $30 for 3 side quests that don’t even level scale to the postgame. Pokémon fans have it so good.
>>
>>58715365
Granted, I think most Digimon fans are buying it for the Digimon, not the sidequests.
But still, 30 for 15 new mons is daylight robbery.
>>
>>58715362
I'm so glad zoomers took a stand against Mew distributions from the year 1999. You guys really pulled through

>>
>>58715372
>They're taking a stand now since boomers ate that shit up back then.

Yeah, sure they are, that's why every single generation features more or less the same thing and the games continue to sell extremely well.
>>
>>58715371
Please feel free to prove me wrong. As far as I recall people where definitely unhappy about the reveal but I can hardly recall anybody calling it "a new low for the industry", let alone it being the common consensus.
I'm pretty sure you're full of shit actually.

>>

Which nobody thought was worth it so they didn't bother with it. One of the few times GF caved in and decided to just release them in Mystery Gift batches anyway.

They learned their lesson however and now gate things people actually want behind their garbage multiplayer to force players to interact with it.
>>
>>58715393
Most of them will mega to dodge the dark pulse and there’s so many ampharos/pikachu/Glaceon in people’s back pockets, I dunno I didn’t have success with Yveltal at all

No, they're not older than 30, those generation of people have jobs. And these monkeys got mummy to buy xbox live to play cod with their friends and sling slurs at randoms. They never lived in a world without an online sub as a feature and not as standard like WoW was in 2000.
>>
>>58715348
One the other hand Elden Ring Nightreign DLC is half the price, and it includes a full new map (not just a desaturated version of the shitty baseline map), revamps older fights, adds a bunch of asset flips with much more quality than GF's asset flips, new playable characters, new bosses with a bunch of new animations, all for half the price.

Good thing I pirated Z-A and will also pirate the DLC
>>
>>58714409
I realized it wasn't relevant for me since the only reason you would want these is for the online play, which I already don't play. I think I played in Season 1 but the gameplay is just not interesting for me, so I don't even have Eternal Floette yet.

If Nintendo didn't drag feet (though I understand completely and utterly why they did, given they're still fucking selling thousands a week) with Switch 2 release, L: Z-A would have launched last year and they wouldn't hcvae to announce its DLC before its launch. Sadly, Nintendo DID delay Switch 2 (game was done bar the sidequests per Teraleak) meaning they had to announce the DLC before launch, as they couldn't wait 6 months to announce it in amongst the 30th anniversary recognition, when they'd be moving on entirely from Switch to solely release on Switch 2 only. Get a job, it's 100% directly connected to being poor.
>>
>>58714409
Eh. I already had NSO and I like playing rank. Only thing I dislike was not being able to use Mega Delphox for my playthrough but can use it for the DLC so it's not that big of a deal.
>>
>>58715547
Are you utterly incapable of critical thought? Do you think people dislike DLC being revealed before a game is out simply because, and it has no relation to the company being greedy?

Let me help out a certified retard like you, the people who complain about the DLC isn't complaining about it "being revealed to early" but that DLC had already started development before the game was even out, hence the greed label.
>>
>>58715555
It really doesn't matter to me if you want to blame Nintendo or GF. The point is that whoever is managing the Pokémon mainline games are greedy fucks.

Only answer I don't accept is TPC as it is a faceless company owned by Nintendo and GF so anyone blaming it should rather blame Nintendo(preferably since they also own stock in Creatures and has more sway) and/or GF.
>>
>>58715570

So just like always, but 15 years ago, you had mummy to leech off and she's told you to get to fuck now you're in your 20's and incapable of adulting. I can't describe what it's like to be a brainwashed addict child grown to maturity however, I was too old to have it as a critical part of my childhood experience like you fucks. SO I don't have the same level of outrage at having to pay for things and to follow a series that concentrates on kids.

>>

>Do you think people dislike DLC being revealed before a game is out simply because, and it has no relation to the company being greedy?
This is an entirely internet related comment, written by a child unaware the machine has been filtering her into seeing voices she agrees with. The world still turns, there's no cunt out in the street organising marches against shitty DLC practices, canvassing politicians to sort out pre-lrelease DLC announcements or anything the level of proving your hilariously obtuse comment, because you see it everywhere in your timeline. You don't like seeing it. I just deal with it, because it's always going to happen and is a greater cancer in the greater industry (not that you seem to be aware). Pokémon does things right though, no DLC announces until after launch. Except with the first game tied so directly to a new console, Nintendo stopped actively marketing the inferior version of the game as soon as they announced the game would get a S2 upgrade version, because Nintendo took the matter out of their hands, burning a year, while demanding a late-year release and commissioning DLC for the intended original year after release with the 30th anniversary an immutable deadline of 27/02/26. Yet the only ones I see upset are kids and the monetarily challenged. Those with means either do or don't give a fuck and ignore, not sperg and shout and cry for attention online, because they can't even if they wanted.
>>
>>58715472
Imagine not having a job and paying for your own shit in your 20’s
>>
>>58715618
Because I'm tired of kids being unable to process their feefees about this any better than crying online for attention and sympathy. I made my peace with the status quo, kids seem to want to return to their childhood experience of it, while not getting the traditional non-child experience of how it operated from day one in the west.

Or he could just not play them at all
>>
>>58715657
No, I don't blindly buy the slop /vp/ shills that does it consistently. And the only other series I do buy that does it has built the goodwill that I know the DLC will be post-game additionals rather than base game content excised like the rest the industry (pretty much like Pokémon). I understand subtleties are lost on you. You are a child bitching about not actually being a chronological child any longer.
>>
>>58715663
He's bitching about pogeymans on /vp/. We both know he'll cave when he can't steal it.

>Do you think people dislike DLC being revealed before a game is out simply because, and it has no relation to the company being greedy?

Except we know for a fact that's not why. Yes, corporations greedy, big surprise, but the internet collectively chose to lose their shit in utter shock and surprise at like, the one situation where it doesnt apply.
We know, for a fact via the teraleak, that the game was supposed to be out way earlier (this time last year iirc), with the DLC coming later.
It's a rare case where we know the pipeline, and we know DLC wasn't finished at the time of the teraleak, and we know the base game was basically finished, so we know it wasn't "cut out".

Literally all that people were pissed about was "optics" of the announcement timing, which is shallow and meaningless. Extra daft considering that announcing DLC prior to a games launch is industry standard.

>"b-b-but its bad when others do it too!"

Just backpedaling.
I know it is, because all of these kids dont complain about it elsewhere until its brought up. I didnt hear a fuckin PEEP about Digimon doing the same thing (but worse).
The real issue is not that youre ACTUALLY pissed about the DLC being announced earlier, its that you read some article that told you to be pissed, and adopted that as an opinion. Idgaf about what GF is doing one way or the other, I find this rhetoric dumb for how transparently naive it is, how easily influenceable the masses opinions are.
>>
>>58715681
>Pokémon
>goodwill
You cannot be serious right now.
>And the only other series I do buy
Strike "I only play Pokémon + 1 other game" off the bingo.
>>
Rank tuah on that thang!!!!
>>
>>58715689
We also know from the Teraleak GF thinks they put too much effort into the SwSh and SV DLC, and they intend to massively cut down the size of future ones, yet they still sell the ZA one for the same price.
>It's a rare case where we know the pipeline, and we know DLC wasn't finished at the time of the teraleak, and we know the base game was basically finished, so we know it wasn't "cut out".
I think you got the timeline mixed up here, we did not know about the development pipeline at the time of MD's reveal.

>I know it is, because all of these kids dont complain about it elsewhere until its brought up. I didnt hear a fuckin PEEP about Digimon doing the same thing (but worse).
Never been in /digi/ then I presume. There was a massive cope about it.
>The real issue is not that youre ACTUALLY pissed about the DLC being announced earlier,
We're both on /vp/ you knowthe backlash was immediate and came before any grifters could regurgutate our opinions.
>>
>>58715695
Nope again, but again subtleties, lost, retard children (the intention of that statement was the only series I buy that DOES announce DLC early earned goodwill for it. The rest get summarily ignored or wait a while for the inevitable DLC announcement). AI and algorithms can't even pigeonhole me, you're unlikely to be able to label me as easily as you can be child.
>>
>>58715742
The Teraleak has shown your goodwill misplaced. If you base your expectations on what goodwill GF built up with their previous DLC(which I agree were pretty decent) then you're going to be disappointed.
>>
>>58714409
wtf I wanted to use sceptile to compelete my trio of dragon mega starters. what am I supposed to do, wait a whole fucking month?
>>
>>58715737
>We also know from the Teraleak GF thinks they put too much effort into the SwSh and SV DLC, and they intend to massively cut down the size of future ones

Sure, which is dumb as fuck. I'm not making the case that GF is some blameless entity, they do dumb shit, they've got no shortage of things to criticize. I'm just speaking to the nature of the reaction.

>I think you got the timeline mixed up here, we did not know about the development pipeline at the time of MD's reveal.

We were able to infer it based on what was previously known, the second wave of the Teraleak simply confirmed it.
Ballguy and all of those fuckers were saying that the base game version that they had was close to the completion, but had no visibility on what the DLC looked like. They also knew that the original deadlines were Holiday release of 2024 for the base game, early Summer/late Spring for the DLC.
Considering that they didnt have a grasp on the DLC, we knew it was being developed after the fact.

>Never been in /digi/ then I presume.

Admittedly no, but I'm speaking to the internet at large

>We're both on /vp/ you knowthe backlash was immediate and came before any grifters could regurgutate our opinions.

Initial round was from people who literally only play Pokemon. The rest were because articles written by AI popped up and informed the general tone for people to parrot.
>>
>>58715760
Just use a different fucking Pokemon
>>
>>58715784
No, I don't fucking want to. I want to enjoy the game with Pokémon I want to use. I'd rather Mega Sceptile not be in the game than to wait a month or two to use it.
>>
>>58715794
Ok
Don’t be surprised that most people dont care though. There’s hundreds of Pokemon most people dont have autistic hang ups about 3
>>
>>58715794
>I'd rather Mega Sceptile not be in the game than to wait a month or two to use it.

What sense does that make?
>>
>>58715783
>We were able to infer it based on what was previously known, the second wave of the Teraleak simply confirmed it.
And you are angry about the everyday man not following BallGuy on twitter and instead assuming what is logical to assume when a DLC is revealed early?
I don't even fully comprehend what your point is. The DLC was close to finishing or even finsihed by the time they did eventually release ZA. If they where developed in conjunction or one after the other the fact still remains that it was deliberately made a separate product.
> but I'm speaking to the internet at large
You're mainly speaking of people fed up with GF's shit and hasn't realized yet that Digimon isn't the savior they think it is. Again, anyone into Digimon isn't going to say that their approach to DLC isn't greedy as fuck.
>Initial round was from people who literally only play Pokemon.
There's way more people than just the Pokémon-only fags who watch Pokémon trailers when they are announced in advance. Myself and presumably you as well since you speak of witnessing the initial reaction.

Gamefreak employees are fighting for their lives in this very thread

I can only hope one day Pokéniggers will play anything besides Pokémon and realize how much more for less you can get on other series
>>
>>58715650
>Just consoom and don't ask questions bro

No wonder Gamefreak feels confortable charging 100€ for a game they barely invested any money into
>>
>>58715650
>I made my peace with the status quo
Nope. You didn’t merely make your peace with it, you have been vigilantly defending it for hours.
>>
>>58715750
>>58715737
That's not what the leak said. DLC for SV and SwSh went overbudget. During production, both projects exceeded the proposed budgets but decided to maintain the scope of those projects, instead of halting the projects and immediately cutting fat to bring them in.

ZA DLC had a mandate to keep within budget. This isn't them being less ambitious, or tricking people that enjoyed their last DLCs. It's just them imposing strict budget guidelines before the project started. I agree that the overall budgets should be higher, but that's another issue. Especially in the context of ZA being a smaller-scale base game compared to SV and SwSh. The DLC was always going to be smaller than the last two, even without them going over budget.
>>
>>58715848
Not the same anon, but there's an obvious age difference here between the uncs who have been through this before and just go along for the ride, and the kids who are still shocked and appalled at the way Pokemon operates.
>>
>>58714465
Try March
>>
>>58715880
Well yes, that would be accepting the status quo. Going into a thread to get mad at other people not having accepted it yet is quite the different story.
Like I turned 30 this year and has played since gen II. I get why people feel the need to vent even if it won’t change anything or is to be expected.

God fucking damn it Game Freak
>>
>>58715895
There's a difference between trying to sway others to think or feel differently, and stating facts in response to blatantly false posts. People are going to vent and whine about Pokemon being greedy, that's not going to change. The difference is when people say blatantly untrue nonsense for the sake of catharsis. And then complaining when someone who's been around checks you on that shit.
>>
>>58715945
I don’t really see what the big lie that has to be corrected is in this thread is. OP complained about paywalled multiplayer Mega Stones.
>>
>>58715961
It's part of a broader trend of people acting like Nintendo is uniquely evil, or that Pokemon is managed differently than in the past. It's incorrect, and it's presented with manufactured hyperbole. If you want to complain to an audience of sycophants, go start a grifter youtube channel.
>>
>>58715977
That’s completely different though. That is not going into a thread to correct misinformation. That is going into a thread to vent your frustration about something completely different.
Going into this thread and posting “You know what I fucking hate? People hating on Pokémon’s DLC and not Digimon’s.” Isn’t correcting a lie. It is venting about something that is causing you frustration.

You 2 need update yourself on EA they still bottom of the barrel but Nintendo over took them years back.

>>
>>58715977
> How are we feeling about 7 total megas being locked behind ranked battle seasons and NSO?
That’s literally all OP wrote. Youtube grifter are living rent free in your head. Take care of yourself.
>>
>>58715992
I didn't post that, but it's still true to say people only cry about the Nintendo badman for the sake of a narrative.
>>
>>58715998
OP started a topic, the discussion grows from there. Lazy ass retort.
>>
>>58716001
There’s plenty of reasons to have issues with Nintendo like pretty much every big tech company.
>>
>>58716007
It didn’t grow from there. Some faggot(presumably you) brought this up entirely on your own. You’re trying to paint yourself as impartial and merely correcting the narrative but you put that false narrative up yourself itt.
This is particularly embarrassing since previously your argument was that you hated people getting worked up over Pokémon’s quality but you are likewise for some reason getting worked up over YouTube grifters in this thread.
>>
>>58715796
I already know that, it's just fucking retarded to locked megas behind a paywall/timewall in a game primarily focused on megas.
>>58715798
Nigga why should I have to not only pay for online, but also wait like 2 months for a mega stone? They may as well not even release the damn Pokémon until they make the stone available.
>>
>>58714409
this is some hot bullshit and honestly confusing.
