Why does GameFreak keep doing this? Do they not realize that a big reason many of us love Pokemon is because it provides us with escapism? I don’t want to constantly be reminded of how shitty the real world is when I play these games.
>>
Boomer melty thread
>>

If the mere reminder that smartphones exist is enough to make you react like this you're simply hysterical and need to grow up
>>
>>58765576
The Pokemon world has literally always been a copy of the real world. That is the appeal.
>>
>>58765576
let’s be real, you’re only mad because it’s rotom that’s inside your phone. If it was like Musharna or another literal who shitmons from the first pokemon game you’ve ever played you wouldn’t have a problem with it.
>>
>>58765576
>Do they not realize that a big reason many of us love Pokemon is because it provides us with escapism?
Really? Streamers and smartphones are the things you need escapism from? Not the politics, social issues and other actually toxic shit? Jesus christ you really are either sheltered or have no real problems in your life in general.
>>
>>58765590
>The Pokemon world has literally always been a copy of the real world.
Tell me about Kanto region bombing all those boats in Alola region in 1941
>>
>>58765609
Kanto is literally the name of a real region of Japan, real world places and historical events were referenced a lot in Gen 1
>>

We know that, Poindexter.

If you're gonna go that route have Lt. Surge who's an American soldier stationed in Japan who participated in a war...
>>
>>58765576
Yeah, this is pretty much where the franchise died. They never should have tried to make it more contemporary. At the same time, I understand why they did it. As kids today literally cannot fathom a world before that shit. But that says more about them than anything else. There is something seriously wrong with this generation...
>>
>>58765647
Pokemon was always contemporary. It always took place in the modern day.
>>
If you're born before 2007, your opinion doesn't matter

I have a girlfriend now and I want kids with her eventually but I'm really worried about screen time. I judge the fuck out of ipad parents but it's so prevalent that I start to think I'm the delusional one for thinking it'll never happen to my kids. But at the same time, I don't understand why people have kids just to not share hobbies and interests and get to know them and instead shove a tablet in their hands and tell them to fuck off so magbe it is as easy as I think it is to not raise a brainrotted kids grade levels behind where they're supposed to be mentally like nearly every young kid is today
>>
>>58765660
Kids have no alternatives anymore. They can't go outside if no other kids are out there.
>>
>>58765660
The more things change the more they stay the same.
Every now and then my dad tells me stories about when he was a kid, and mostly left unsupervised.
The shit he got into from 8-14 would have had me grounded for life. If I survived it.
I phone kids aren't that different. Parenting is hard and 9/10 people can't hack it.
Most kids turn out pretty good despite their parents, and heck kids that get good parenting can turn out rotten
for no clear reason.

Basically good luck with your girlfriend anon. I'm sure you'll be a great dad.

breaking the cycle of apathy and retardation is a matter of literally just talking to your kids and explaining things until they understand instead of giving up like a chimpanzee

Social media is the exact reason the world sucks. It's an extension of a global surveillance state that suffocates us every day, while feeding humanity's worst traits of pride, hubris and invidia. Now everyone's obsessed with views, likes, follows, subscribes, engagement, look at me I'm traveling and you're not, you can't ever own a house or business anymore but if you suck someone off hard enough you can become a professional selfie taker, it's the very thing we were warned about decades ago in movies like Wall-E.
>>
>>58766306
All of that was happening long before social media.

You should be able to solve this
>>
The pokédex beforehand was a fucking PDA. How about you zoomer trash deal with the fact Pokémon leans on real-world tech, to inspire ITS fucking tech.
>pokédex then looked like a Nintendo handheld, while functioning like Daddy's PDA
>Nintendo handhelds evolved into tablets
>PDA's got replaced by smartphones
>pokédex is now an app on a smartphone like Daddy's
Not their fault you're a developmentally arrested little sperg. I'm still trying to wrap my head around three year olds being UNABLE to work game boy colors, because smartphones rotted their brains already.
>>
I much prefer retrofuturism over whatever gay shit we have now. Uncle Ted was right about ipad culture and ipad kiddies.

Someone should invent a time machine and assassinate Steve Jobs

Yea but Pokemon also had more cutting edge technology than real life, like the Pokeballs, PC data storage, Time Machine, etc.
In XY people were chatting over these sci-fi holograms instead of something like a phone. It made the world seem a bit more advanced than ours.
>>
>>58767083
I knew the level warp jump in SMB at 3 years old. But "holding rectangular thing and pressing buttons to make things happen" was innate, I knew how to work the telly with the remote control at that age too.
Maybe it's the fact the world and tech have both undergone paradigm shifts from where they were 42 years ago when I emerged to the world to today. Kids don't have the same type of tech I did, which feeds back to my original point in that the 'dex similarly underwent a stylistic evolution, to better mirror the world kids are exposed to today (I was being facetious up there, I DO understand, bit now Switch is a factor, maybe they'll re-learn how things were. Not that it's gonna delete rotomphone any time soon).
>>
>>58765576
I hate Rotom Phones.
I hate streamers in Pokemon. Raihan, Iono, and Canari are consistently terrible.
>>
>>58767410
I hate to say it to you lad, but a phone that can contain a pokém on, that can levitate, act as emergency air-brake AND pinch-hit glider IS pretty fucking far advanced than the rectangular pieces of shit WE have in our skyrockets.
>>
>>58765576
They ruined Rotom and its lore.
If they really had to do pokephones, it should have been Porygon the one to be the assista, like in that spinoff. Even if the magic device is a lame trope anyway, it was much better when dex was a counterpart of the console
>>

TV and the internet have existed in the Pokemon world since forever, and you're surprised that smartphones and e-celebs exist?

No, it was supposed to be sci-fi-lite but they gave up on that

It was just the real world, but with technology that was slightly more advanced in some areas. But then the real world caught up.
>>
>>58765660
Dad here. We refuse to give her a tablet, but screen time in general really isn't bad when limited. I know the neuroscientists say its bad, but practically speaking, there's gonna be times where you need to get chores done and all you can really do is have your toddler watch their baby show while you get shit done.

Just stay away from cocomelon and shit like that. Ms. Rachel is pretty great actually.
>>
>>58765576
Poopymon is a self insert franchise with no actual unique setting
>>
>>58765576
The aspect of the Rotom phone I hate the most is the "lol you can't fall" bullshit. Also, that Gamefreak probably came up with them because they had no idea how to animate someone taking out a phone.
>>
At least it's a cycling cast. Suddenly having smartphones is only bad when a show like The Simpsons does it. Because Homer is clearly written to be a boomer but then became a millennial.
>>
>>58769010
>phone is inhabited by a creature proven to be able to take control of whatever it inhabits (to the point it can walk around in a fridge or fan, as well as roll in a mower, or fly around a person's head
>"they jkust LAZY and didn't animatey da handies pulling outs a phonio"
Or the creature that inhabits the phone is friendly and helpful and jumps out its storage space to allow the phone call to take place. I mean, one IS backed up by lore, the other seems to be the bitching of a toddler overtired and on the internet.
>>
>>58765609
Well there certainly are a lot of people from Kanto in Alola
>>
>>58769093
not him but I always despised Rotom anyway, all of the appliance forms were awful and it was a retarded choice to make this stupid basically-a-legendary have such a specific and boring gimmick
If Rotom was just its base form and it got an evolution and prevolution and you could find it in the wild? maybe. But Rotom has been trash since DP.
>>
Pokemon needs viewership mechanic where you stream your battles and the more popular you get the more sponsorships you get.
>>
>>58765576
The Rotom Pokédex seems like a copy of Whisper from Yokai Watch.
>>
>>58765576
the rotom dex was a cute idea in alola but you have to wonder how ethical this shit it now.
Do rotoms like being stuck in a phone forever? Are they being mass-bred for electronics?
>>
>>58769414
>BZZRT! I like it when you rub my screen there! BZZRT!
he gets off to it
>>
>>58769093
You don't get it.
The Rotom phone does make sort of sense, even if you have to overlook the fact that someone was able to capture millions of Rotoms and put them in phones, but it was an idea born out of their incompetence.
Gamefreak is so incompetent that, despite using it dozens of times, they could only animate ONE fist bump in the entire game. The others were all emotes.
>>
>>58769414
I seem to remember than the breed of Rotoms for Smartphones likes the device so yes, they are breed for it.

I'm still baffled that none of the Switch games have a VS Records system. Video sharing in Platinum was slightly ahead of its time.

>many of us
You're not the target audience
Also, you bought it anyways.
>>
>>58766321
Yeah, but it was unrealistic for the average person to want to chase it. The best you could do is being a well-liked person in your local community, and you'd never get into a crust higher than that without connections, now everyone wants to game the system for worldwide appeal because that's what the internet allows because everyone keeps selling this "I was an average person, just like you!" story.
That's not to say the internet invented this story either, but there was always a clear sense of who belonged to the higher crusts from the start and who didn't. The internet muddies that definition, so it makes the foolish believe they have a real chance.
>>
>>58770062
They absolutely are mass breeding them, it's just that the inherent demand for "everyone has a Rotom Phone" equates to needing billions upon billions of Rotom, if we run on the generally safe assumption that Pokemon's world population of humans mirrors the real world.
>>
Fun fact:
The same people who clutch their pearls over escapism from the daily bullshit are the same people who have hundreds of posts on Twitter clutching their pearls over HUMAN BEINGS that actually want some peace and dignity in their lives and have it not be a 9-5 shit fest followed up by managing bills right after.

Also the same people who preach about how human life is special but yet get throbbing boners when SNAP benefits are under attack. American Christianity is a pagan religion.

why are there so many schizos on here? You need to get off 4chan and any other social media website and go pick up a tangible hobby and talk to real people that aren't putting up a facade for a little while. It's making you crazy.
>>
>>58770916
Because until 4chan mandates an account with government identification verification to post, you can't actually long term ban someone from posting on 4chan, and since most of these schizos are disgraced from other communities like Reddit or various Discord servers, they'll gleefully exploit 4chan's lax nature about ban navigation to make the site their new forever home.
