It would help considerably when trying to do in-person events that revolve around the older games. As of right now, it's so hard to justify something like that existing because in order to get into it, you either have to have compatible third party stuff like analogue pockets and flashcarts which many people won't do, or you have to be insane enough to pay for the official hardware, which goes for ridiculous amounts if you aren't searching garage sales. I want this to happen personally, but it's going to cause so many headaches with people having these versions instead of GBA versions.
