Why they never made a cinematic opening like this again?
>>58802449>spoil N is the leader of team plasma when you boot the game>pretend it’s an ebin twist during the storywhat did they mean by this?
what the fuck was wrong with the geech's arm and eye anyway
>>58802449Black and White (and sequels) was literally the only time ever that Pokemon wasn't pure childslop in terms of story/theming. It felt closer to Digimon than Pokemon, in a good way.I miss it so bad bros.
>>58802449Cause kids don't pay attention anywayAlso yeah >>58802475 is right it was weird as fuck>>58802567SV beats them imo
>>58802475you don't know if the cutscene is set in the past or at the end of the game tho
>>58802567will never understand why the plot of bw is praised. the moment gehtsis shows up you know the turns and twists the game will take. it's even worse since this supposed aspect that makes the games deep was all a lie since you know the nigger only proposed separating pokemon so he could be the only one with them. there was NOTHING deep about these pieces of shit you call games
>>58802595Just because he's obviously evil doesn't mean he couldn't be right. He doesn't have an arm and an eye which imply he lost them due to Pokemon's aggression. N can communicate with Pokemon directly and he truly believes they should be separated from humans. That really makes you think.
>>58802581>SV as good or better than BWGet better taste. SV is the sloppiest of slop.
>>58802595I like BW, but really the more I think about it the more I believe that N elevates a story that in itself is presented in a fairly weak way, even if Ghetsis is evil, I see it as an ideological struggle between the player and N, while the surrounding environment (Ghetsis) silently moves the pieces to establish a totalitarian regime, my biggest problem is that the grunts are too stupid and cartoonish and they ruin the story and the immersion, I’m not saying they should have been serious, it’s Pokémon, but fuck they could have made them less ridiculous and one-dimensional
>>58802595I think their plots are all right.Having the conflict coming from the notion of "what if pokemon don't actually like humans all that much" is interesting but also sort of undermined in that the player can't engage with that question beyond just normal pokemon battling. So despite the interesting questions proposed, the plot is functionally the same as most other pokemon plots in that the player wordlessly facerolls the bad guys with his team.BW asks an ideological question and just answers it the same way you beat a route 1 bug catcher.Personally, I like B2W2's story a bit more. It drops some of the pretention while also adding depth the Unova due to it being a direct sequel. It's a setting with a tangible history and context now which in ways elevates the more simple plot. New Team Plasma seeks power in a direct way after their previous subversion failed so it fits better with Pokemon's inherent "I'm morally superior because I'm a better trainer" gameplay.
>>58802567*kicks munna*
>>58802640*kick herdier*
>>58802631SV has great writing no matter how sloppy the rest wasIt has more nuance than BW because it doesn't have shit like the Munna getting kicked or an antagonist who literally goes muhaha like a cartoon villainSV really felt more like a Digimon story than a Pokémon story which is great like the other post said
>>58802449Are you asking why Game Freak, the company that basically gave up after gen 6, didn't put any money or effort into resources that help with worldbuilding or immersion for a game they know millions will buy anyway?>>58802704>Muh nuance>About SV of all thingsYou guys sure have lost touch with reality here.
>>58802745How does SV lack nuance?
>>58802814nta but imo especially team star was well done
>>58802819Team Star is definitely the weakest of the 3 plotlines, mostly cause the conclusion doesn't really make sense and relies on 1 person being a colossal retard for no reasonBut the main story was great
>>588027041. That was for Black and White2. In what way is the game in anyway reminds of Digimon?
>>58802852>1.I know but it applies even more to SV >2. It's a story about a bunch of troubled teens going through some shit together (and with their monster companions), becoming friends and growing up a little in the processPlus the final boss is an AI going rogueBoth of these things are Digimon core, more than what BW did in factDid you even play SV? Cause this shit should be painfully obvious
>>58802640>Oh no Ghetsis is mad!>this is why different than when he's making speeches to trick people!
>>58802814Nuance doesn't make for a good story, I'd argue it usually negatively affects the story more than it helps. It can help you explore a theme better, but a good story stands on its own without nuance needing to be a selling point. Usually, nuance is only necessary for good propaganda.
>>58802449>>58802475>made the same mistake they made in gen 1
>>58803023didn't know this lmao
>>58803023Do people in KANTOOOOOOOOOOOO even know giovanni is a criminal?
>>58802449They don't even make openings anymore. But yeah the BW opening got he hyped as a kid
Least obvious yawniebait thread
>>58802595The bar for story in mainline Pokemon is touching the ground. BW wins by default just for making an attempt.
>>58803294*kicks munna*
>>58803325Still better than 9 hours of "GET BACK IN THE BAG, NEBBY! MALASADAS!" Or the schizo babble that SWSH called a story. Again, the competition is not high.
>>58803336>Still better than *thing that makes sense*nah
>>58802449Why put effort in when players will buy the game anyways?
>>58802475>>58803023SM does the same thing, btw.
>>58802929>trouble teens>NemonaFuck out of here
>>58802998Nuance doesn't make a good story, but a good story needs nuance to be taken seriously and/or to be emotionally impactfulBWs story is conceptually really good but the lack of nuance makes it childish sometimes it which lowers its quality a lot>>58803681She didn't have any friends cause everyone viewed her as a battle obsessed freakAlso she has some sort of sickness or physical ailmentShe seems happy compared to the others but she has her problems
>>58802567
>>58802640>>58802704>>58803325
