>not a single Pokemon gets Bug or Flying type when becomes regional form

create a concept of regional form that gets either of those types
>>
>>58804675
Regional Flygon, Bug/Flying.
Thread over.
>>
>>58804675
Well, how does a creature adapt and become a Bug?
What kind of an environment could force a species to fly?
>>
>>58804722
This. It makes no sense. OP is a dumb retard.
>>
>>58804693
would actually be kino

How does a creature adapt to become a dragon?

Well, the explanation behind Exeggutor is that it awakened "dragon powers", so I guess a Bug-type regional variant would awaken "bug powers"
>>
>>58804722
>What kind of an environment could force a species to fly?
High treetops and stuff. Any lizard Pokemon could fit, given gliding lizards exist and we already have the much more common flying squirrel.
>>
>>58804722
Flying-type Pokemon don't need to actually be able to fly, being able to glide or just having wind powers is enough.
>>
>>58804722
>Well, how does a creature adapt and become a Bug?
Dessert-dwelling Scorupi with the Bug/Ground type, Drapion keeps the typing when it evolves.
>>58804722
>What kind of an environment could force a species to fly?
Volbeat and Illumise regional forms which just add the Flying type and make them faster:^)
>>
>>58804722
Literally every single flying creature of a huge variety of species on the planet went through that, the fuck are you on about? This isn't like bugs where they've got their own kingdom or whatever. Some bugs can fly, dinosaurs evolved into birds, various mamals and reptiles can glide, there's a fish that's colloquially called a flying fish for fuck's sake.
>>
>>58804675
The only way something could gain Bug type would be if it gets infected by a parasite or something.
>>
>>58804964
If pancakes can make a Raichu psychic, maybe eating a lot of honey can make it a bug?

actually a regional form could become a bug-type if they:
>developed an exoskeleton
>adapt to live in swarms
>feature kamen-rider-esque poses
>have pincer jaws
>get labeled a bug in any way conceptually or literally
>and many more
Hope this helps
>>
>>58804918
>dinosaurs evolved into birds
We're talking same exact species here. What you're saying is basically just Shelgon evolving into Salamence, and that's being generous.
>>
>>58804722
Heracross flyes and its not a flying type. It could lose fighting
>>
>>58804675
I think Bug type is going to have to stick with Convergent species. A few of those regional forms still had a Flying type to either lose or keep, but not a single Bug type, former or current, is present. Though it gets muddied when you include Paradox Pokemon.
>>
>>58804675
At least Flying is represented there, unlike Bug
>>
>>58804675
I wonder if they are facing out regional forms in favor of actual evolutions or convergent forms as we've seen lately

Gen 7 regional forms
Gen 8 regional forms but they can evolve into all new pokemon
Gen 8 DLC regional forms of legendaries
PLA regional forms of starters, but not much new. Muddies the water with locked evos like Wyrdeer and Ursaluna
Gen 9 regional form with different permanent forms plus regional forms that are actually enterely different pokemon

What's next for the gimmick? I think they might let it rest, or maybe do a regional mythical Pokemon
>>
>>58804675
If you take mega evolution into account (heck, even regular evolution) no pokemon has ever gained the bug type
>>
So if Pokemon evolution, which is more like metamorphosis, is referred to as "evolution," then what word do they use to describe the actual evolution (i.e., natural selection, genetic drift, etc.) that results in regional forms?

a species that goes from manipulating flames to manipulating ice is less of a stretch than a species that suddenly sprouts wings? come on man. It's pokemon. Well within the expectations of the series.
>>
>>58804675
Regional forms is now an outdated concept since 2022
>>
>>58804722
Bug is an elemental typing not an in-universe taxonomical rank. Gamefreak needs to stop being bitches and get more creative so that we can have Bug types at least partially based on vertebrates.
>>
>>58805433
>>58805292
Maybe it's just out of some respect to Satoshi Tajiri that Bug types have to look like insects. There could be insect Pokemon that aren't Bug-type (Iron Moth, the Flygon line, the Lurantis line, etc.), but not the other way around.
>>
>>58805789
seems silly
>>
>>58804722
Not really becoming a bug, but you could have a regional form that has parasites.
For example, you can have a regional form for a dog Pokémon that attacks with its fleas, a fish Pokémon with a parasitic isopod, or a snail Pokémon infected with Leucochloridium paradoxum.
>>
>>58804722
Something relating to parasites seems the most obvious. Maybe a Grass Pokémon that becomes a Grass/Bug gall?

They can just bullshit some excuse about how the species has "primal bug heritage" that lay dormant until circumstances bring it to the forefront, like how Alolan Exeggutor is somehow a tree that dragons because it apparently had that pedigree in its species all along.
>>
>>58804675
Bug is a physiology type like Dragon

Heck even the paradoxes didnt mess with it. They just removed Bug from one of Volcarona's paradoxes
