Actually Venusaur’s claim to fame was Chlorophyll.
It was never the best sleep setter. I was always outclassed in that role by Exeggutor in earlier gens and by Breloom/Amoongus in later gens.
Non-Mega Venusaur ended up being good once it got Chlorophyll and could sweep under Sun with Growth and great coverage.
