As an absol fan I like it but not as much as vanilla mega absol.mega absol feels like it was revealing it's true nature as a guardian angel who warned and tried to save folks from disaster, only to get punished as a herald who brought the disaster.So a trainer ignoring that stigma getting close, bonding with it enough to mega and literally getting to see it become the guardian angel that it's always been, feels like a completion of a genuine character arc for both the trainer and pokemon..Mega absol z is cool too it's like people's feelings and superstitions about it became it's reality and now it really is the harbinger of disaster people believed it to be, fuck you all I'm a ghost now time to fuck your shit I will bring the disaster. That's great too but there's something so beautiful about the first one that I prefer.

I dunno what it is about Absol that suddenly made it my favorite. I never payed attention to it back in Gen 3, but suddenly come Gen 6, they show off Mega Absol and all I think is "huh ok" Then I actually play Y and decide to catch Absol for myself for the playthrough and through all of it, now Absol became my favorite Pokemon. Spent plenty of time in Amie with it. I also like the fur that hangs down and the big chest fur its got.

Very annoying in Ranked due to Phantom Force giving it invulnerability and being able to knock off items and, of course, it's hit speed.But has it simply invalidated Regular Mega Absol? Special sets were always a meme so people were running Mega Absol at least for the physical power boost. I suppose it can go mixed? Though it's hard to justify since Absol Z can just Play Rough a Garchomp anyways instead of Ice Beam. Or Close Combat a bulky steel.If Absol learned Nasty Plot, I could see the regular mega being kind of understandable but as is, Z simply invalidates regular mega.Of course, all this doesn't matter if you're just into looks and in-game viability.
I know this was never going to happen, but I kinda wish both Megas were the extremes of their particular attack stat. Mega Absol would be a much faster, harder hitting Sp Attacker, instead of being a rather slow (in comparison) mixed attacker that can't really do much over all. Or maybe give it some slight bulk to put Magic Bounce to better effect. Meanwhile, Mega Z is what you expect from an Absol evolution just looking at its stats, no SP attack, just pure speed and phy attack
