I can (and do) read and write in my dreams. Always perplexed when people insist there are certain rules to what you can and can't have in dreams. Like, "you can never dream about a place you've never been" - that's absurd, there are plenty of completely artificial places my mind has conjured for dreams, both internally logical and with weird accessways and nonsensical connections. But people will still insist you "can't dream that". Same with reading or writing. Same with having a phone, or seeing things on computer screens, or whatever things like that.
