They are way overhated. I liked having a rival who is well-intentioned but ends up causing trouble for you due to their impulsive personality - it was quite a nice change of pace. I do agree that their storyline with Jett and their mother could've been a bit more fleshed out though. And maybe change their taking Floette in the climax should've just been Floette offering to go with them. Also I like them being a psuedo-love interest to the player, should've leaned in a bit harder though like Brendan/May in ORASn though.>>58824784I don't know why you're blaming the rival for this, the Infinite Z-A Royale was originally AZ's desire and the player ultimately wants it too. They also had nothing to do with the Wild Zones, they were created to help deal with all the wild Pokémon coming to the city. And the entire urban redevelopment plan started as a last-ditch effort to save/revitalize the city after people started leaving after the events of X and Y.

>>58824812You can literally lose all three battles against them during the main campaign and the story continues as normal - they are the only rival where this is the case. You can literally beat the game without ever beating them. Some say the story actually works better if you lose the third battle against them in the climax since they're more justified in taking Floette. Also, with their rematch teams in the DLC they're literally the strongest rival.
