I'm still mad. This type unironically ruins the type chart and doesn't even provide the 'balance' it was attempting to.

First of all, it retconned the types of a tonne of Pokemon, and a lot of these don't even make any sense. Why is Marill now a Fairy type? Why is Togepi a Fairy type? Why is Jigglypuff, a 'balloon' a Normal/Fairy type, but Snubbull, a 'dog fairy', is just pure Fairy type?

Then you have the type matchups which seems to based entirely on a poor attempt at 'balancing'. Fairy beating Dark makes sense, but why tf does it beat Dragon and Fighting? If a twinkly little fairy suddenly appeared my Hitmonlee could easily boot it across the room and through the drywall. And if they had a problem with Dragon types being overpowered, maybe they shouldn't have introduced 35 strong Dragon mons between Gens 3-5? Dragon type was supposed to be a rare boss type in the early days. Why didn't they keep it that way?

Ironically the result of this is that Fairy is the new overpowered type - Poison is an unpopular type that no-one really wants to use, and Steel is more of a defense-based type.

Worst of all, it seems as though the only real qualifier for whether or not a Pokemon is 'Fairy' is how pink it is. Which is a stupid reason to determine the type of a Pokemon.

I hate this type and so should you.

I don't like that they retconned some types as fairies, but the other complaints are overblown.

> Fairy beating Dark makes sense, but why tf does it beat Dragon and Fighting?
Because DRAGONS come from FAIRY tales and FAIRY tales always end in the defeat of the DRAGON.
And because Fairies fly around like Flying types, which is why Fighting loses to both of them.
>But not every Fairy type can fly!
Neither can all Flying types

>Ironically the result of this is that Fairy is the new overpowered type - Poison is an unpopular type that no-one really wants to use, and Steel is more of a defense-based type.
Not only is "Poison is unpopular" a terrible argument, Dragons have still been a huge part of the competitive meta since Fairy's introduction and it DID make Poison and Steel more relevant, you can't just say it didn't because you don't like using Poison.

Fairy should be weak to psychic

Wow, almost like the fairy type succeeding at what it set out to do.

I love the fairy type, but i'd make further changes

>fairy weak to bug
>fairy resists bug

>Why is Marill now a Fairy type? Why is Togepi a Fairy type? Why is Jigglypuff, a 'balloon' a Normal/Fairy type, but Snubbull, a 'dog fairy', is just pure Fairy type?

Aside from Togepi, I think they were all part of the fairy egg group, so they were all fairies anyway.

Yeah FUCK FAIRY TYPES

>Pokemon as a franchise immediately goes to shit with the gen that introduced fairies

The Snubbull line has always been fairy related.

Anyway Milotic not being a fairy despite being based on a fairy tale and having the power to calm violent spirits is the biggest surprise.

>Thinks pixies are the only type of fae there is
Nigger, even something as brutish as a troll is sometimes considered fae-esque in nature, which is why Grimmsnarl is a Pokemon.
Fairy shares similar properties with Ghost types because fae are typically nature spirits, Fighting and Bug (alongside Normal types) are considered worldly types, and they can't do much against otherworldly things, there's so many tales of the fae playing pranks on warriors and brutes to teach them a lesson in one way or another, so in a sense it has the mind over matter and yet again like I said in my comparison to Ghost, spirit over matter as well. Bug types likely caught a straight bullet because of U-Turn just being an insufferably poorly designed move that was already a problem by the time of gen 5.
Fairy tales and even many old tales of our forefathers tell stories of the fae being helpful in felling in dragons with their blessings and help, like the other anon said, Fairy tales are famous for ending with dragons being felled.
The Fairy having the resistances and aspects it does make perfect sense for anyone who does this magical unheard of think called "reading history books".
If you want to talk about overpowered types, Water has been stupidly strong since gen 1, it has some of the best resistances in the game, it threatens popular types and it has 2 of the most pointless weaknesses in the game, that up until gen 3 were not exploitable at all due to Water being so bulky on the special side anyway.
I'm not even a Fairy fag, I generally disdain the type as a Psychic and Steel lover, but even I see Fairy types as a necessary evil, Dark type is broken now, Dragons are still really stupid, Bug types are nowhere near as weak as retards pretend they are. And Steel STAB and Poison types in general became far more prevalent, so the Fairy type's introduction did it's job of balancing things out fairly alright.

Because then you would have overpowered boss types that everyone would use. The first solution was to make more dragon types to kill the other dragons, which failed. Then they made faerie type which brought dragons under control and brought up some under utilized types which succeeded, technically, but just made another overpowered type.

Ice types need some love. They've had to suffer for 30 years bearing the sin of dragon supremacy, and fairy just waltzed in and got everything handed to it.

literally yes they can. Even Doduo

I still feel like it was unnecessary. The only thing I would change about Fairy is resisting bug.

it feels like forced thematic reasoning and doesn't feel like it enhances gameplay

It's safe to say that Ice getting any new resistances even if it was to Normal would cause a shit ton of (forced) drama on here.
It would be funny.

The dragon always dies at the end of the fairytale
Magic>martial arts, also the mischievous Fairy tricks the brute barbarian
