Why ground mons?
>>58836131They're cool
>>58836131They’re down to earth
>>58836131Wants to control the Earth
Because ground is top 3 type in terms of power.
Rhydon
>>58836131they didn't choose ground type... in gen 1, it was cool pokemon type
>>58836131Because Team Rocket was grounded in reality and had realistic goalsMeanwhile:>MagmaWants to bake everything for “human advancement” but everything dies without water>AquaWants to drown humanity >GalacticWants to fulfill some chudcel’s dream of shredding this universe down to its last atom o algo>PlasmaOkay this one’s pretty based tbdesu >FlareWants to kill 99.99% of humanity because humans are… le greedy but the only people left alive are the greediest fucks imaginable>SkullNigletts. Also grounded in reality but that’s about it.>AetherMommy uses nepo money to make an advanced organization to do SNCA>YellMarley at home’s fan club. The false prophet will never be as based as Marley.>Macro Cosmos or whatever the fuck its name wasLol. Lmao even.>StarWE WUZ BULLIED N’ SHIIIEEEEEET>The fuckers from Z-ALol. Lmao even.
>>58836254Magma wanted to add more land not remove all water
>>58836131Because he literally tries to take control of the Kanto region from the ground up
Ground counters Poison. Rocket Grunts use poison, so Gio uses ground.
>>58836131>hard counters Ash's ace>hard counters Yellow protag's ace>hard counters GSC Red's aceI highly doubt it was intentional but it wound up working out super well
>>58836131Because wants to remain underground
>>58836131Where do you think everyone before Red ended up? Also, do you prefer his ace being Nidoqueen or Rhydon/Rhyperior?
>>58836131Was originally Flying
>>58836298Well boy howdy did they ever not do their research on Groudon then
>>58836273This.Team Magma did nothing wrong.
>>58836446Gen 3 robot-looking god-tier power creep numons didnt exist in gen 1
>>58836131Best offensive type
>>58836366Fissure Dugtrio in RBY Specifically
>>58836301>Levitate
>>58836301I think Giovanni probably set it up this way intentionally. If he was a gym leader first and then founded Team Rocket (and it wasn't a already established organization) he probably put it somewhere in the rules to make Grunts use primarily poison-types. Heck, even the scientists use mainly electric, which also gets mogged by Ground-types. Makes for good job security anyway, since if one of his underlings were to ever get uppity and challenge him, he'd run them over even if they were more talented than him.
Who are your favorite post-Kanto additions to his team?I think Toesdcruel matches his colors fairly well. Especially the Rainbow Rocket Giovanni. Krookodile also seems like a natural addition.
>>58836301Eh, maybe.Team Rocket does use Poison as their most common choice, but theyre not exclusive Poison type trainers or anything. Their whole point was that they steal Pokemon, so they use a huge variety (unlike modern shitty evil teams)They use:>Zubat>Golbat>Ekans>Arbok>Koffing>Weezing>Grimer>MukBut also>Drowzee>Hypno>Magnemite>Magneton>Voltorb>Electrode>Rattata>Raticate>Machop>Machoke>Mankey>Primeape>Cubone>Marowak>Sandshrew>SandslashI'm sure the reason they were given Poison types so primarily, is it works as a deadly "underhanded" type that can inflict status and pose a threat even outside of battle. But I dont think it was supposed to be strictly tied to their identity or anything in the same way Team Magma grunts exclusively use 3 total Pokemon.
>>58836273an understandable goal when you live in hoenn
>>58836599best excuse for lack of type variety I've heard. Only issue is the Zubats. I mean they are Zubats and he also has rock types
>>58836628True. The Rockets were designed to be fatiguing to fight against. You do these big dungeons full of Rockets, individually they're not much of a threat but the poison and the confusion and the self-destructs and critical hits and sonic booms are all there to wear you out
