I just don't get why it wasn't a Mega Jirachi if the DLC shit was all about wishes and nothing about nightmares.

Then Gen 5 doubled down on it with the Entralink and dreams being able to manifest another plane of existence, bringin things from the collective unconscious to reality. PMD also framed Darkrai’s nightmare control as being able to distort timespace. Plus Darkrai was already sort of associated with the Kalos legends. It has the same eyes, color scheme, and fluff as Yveltal, and Gamefreak used the Kalos legendary theme to promote an event for it back in 2014.

JP fans caught onto the Kantian aspects of their relationship and symbolism at least a decade ago, but for most western fans, it took PLA spelling it out in a character dialogue for it to click. Dream pokemon would have a cause to be affiliated with reality warping, then, since they are directly twisting the human mind.

That's the Jirachi lore, not Darkrai's.Mega Darkrai instead of Mega Jirachi made no sense. At least the writing was off because Darkrai was just being really nice to everyone instead of tormenting people.
