Berry Juice was a fun idea.It was not a very practical idea. In Gen2 (and only Gen2), a Berry (heals 10hp, sell for 5p) could be turned into Berry Juice (heals 20hp, sell for 50p), via a process where after each battle there was a 1/16 chance the first Shuckle holding a Berry in your party would... mix it with its body fluids and turn it into a gooey liquid.Doubling the healing power and 10x'ing the sale price sounds impressive until you remember how little 20HP/50p is. A basic Potion also heals 20HP but sells for 150p, and you could make more money by just using the move Pay Day once.In Gen5, you could sell Berry Juice for 1500p to a specific buyer, but the Berry>Berry Juice ability that Shuckle once had no longer existed and the only way to get Berry Juice was as a held item from a wild Shuckle. So, in Gen2, making sure to constantly replenish your Shuckle with Berries in an average playthrough might net you a profit of 4000p, or less than the price of half of one Calcium. It was not very practical, but it made the world feel so much deeper. Being able to use Cut on grass or Lightning Rod making you encounter more electric pokemon are the kind of details the games need more of.
>>58935778I suppose Berry Juice has the advantage of being consumable while held, especially before Citrus Berry was a thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ungh shuckle I need your hole juice noooow
>>58935778Berry juice was meant to be alcohol right? There's no reason to make juice through Shuckle otherwise
>>58935813>especially before Citrus Berry was a thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Gold berries were still better, healing for 30 HP. The only downside is the only reliable source of them requires Surf.
>>58935841>Berry juice was meant to be alcohol right? It's fermented, so yeah.Shuckle is based on snake wine.
>>58935778If a shuckle consumes weeds or other drugs, would the juice produces have similar effects or would they get filtered?
>>58935855>google snake winewack
>>58935861What kind of question is that?
>>58935855It's based on a fermentation jar and a barnacle. Its English name just kinda sucks and led most people to assume "Shuckle" came from turLE instead of barnaCLE.
>>58935813>>58935854Pokemon still having value based healing for items rather than percentage is dumb. Recovery moves were already based around the superior percentage based system right from the start.
>>58935816A glass of bodily fluids, coming right up.
I always fucked with Shuckle, but I can't believe I fell for the Rare Candy thing for all those years. All that time and I guess I never tried to do it myself. He still a cool dude tho.
>>58935778>>58935778>>58935778I don't know how the fuck this idea came to me, but I'm pretty sure there was a really old internet rumor where Berry Juice could turn into a Rare Candy if held by a Shuckle but it was really, REALLY rare.I swear I'm not making this up. I remember reading something like this online when gen2 was current. Yes I'm old as fuck and it was probably just a dumb rumor.
>>58936221Yeah, I remember it too. "Secrets" of that kind that were difficult to verify were common back in the day.
>>58936221It was a Mew truck tier rumor. Every fansite in the mid 2000s was reporting it as fact.
>>58935778If they added crafting into the game it would be great. Potion+Potion = superpotionRevive+Revive = max reviveBerry juice + Sitrus berry = Super juice. Heals 33% when fall below 50% hp Berry juice + Leichi berry = Pow juice. Heals a pokemon 25% hp and raise attack by 1 when below 25% hp. Stuff like that. It would also be a great way to get rid of excess items. Bring back the legends arceus stuff like Geodude pebble. Geodude pebble x10 = kings rock
>>58936221I kinda miss these rumors and times.>>58936309>5x Berry = Berry JamGrants the Berry effect for five turns.>Berry Cookie / Muffin / Cake / ...Restores HP and grants the Berry effect
>>58936326>Rare candy + berry jam = Rare jamIncreases your pokemons exp gain by 100% for 15 minutesIt writes itself.
