Honestly I was watching Bulbasaur's Mysterious Garden episode of the polemon anime and got so distracted by what was happening on the screen I accidently evoled my ivysaur and by by the time I realised I started mashing b but it was too late and I threw my tribal GBA SP across the room and my dad started that old argument about getting a job.
I told him straight to his face find me a job raising and caring for and tucking in ivysaurs and putting lotion on their sore leafs and toy have a deal. Irl mic drop moment because he just couldn't come back with anything and left the room lol

Only sometimes. I've found a few cases where it's kinda useful.

In FR/LG, if you prevent Spearow from evolving at 20, it will learn Aerial Ace at level 25. Fearow actually doesn't learn this move by level-up so you're stuck with Peck or Fly until Drill Peck at level 40 unless you do this or use the TM.

Some other mons have this same scenario. Shroomish learns spore at 40 or so... there's a firemon that doesn't even learn flamethrower at all when evolved normally.

I remember the Gen 3 starters having really late moves like Treecko getting Giga Drain at 46. Otherwise the move would be unobtainable. It wasnt till Gen 7 remedied this by making Giga Drain accessible at 21. I dont know why Gamefreak would do this. If they want to make it more like the Anime you can at least give people incentives for having NFE Pokemon. I would combine Everstone and Eviolite into one item so people have a stat bonus on the item that prevents evolution. That would feel more genuine.

You have to use B to stop your Pokemon from evolving basically, the Everstone takes up a valuable item slot that if you are using NFEs is typically filled by something else to make up for their raw base stats. I do not care that by someone using a certain species as the OP image quantifies this entire thread as a bait thread, this needed to be said.
Shit fucking sucks and the Everstone should have either have been a toggle-able key item from inception or they should have introduced the PLA mechanic of evolving on your terms via the party screen a lot sooner.

Would Pokemon benefit from a new spin-off where they take a cue from Digimon and redo the stats of pokemon so that a whole bunch of the evolutions are just different stat allocations while lower evolutions are also different stat allocations?
But then I guess that kinda goes against the ethos of evolution anyway which is a key part of the games enjoyment in that you experience growth as time passes.
I think that's why the episode about Pikachu and Raichu rings a bit hollow. Gameplay-wise you'd just use Raichu. Good episode though.
I think if Pokemon got a new team of artists who really hammer out a way to make new cool pokemon that are within the realm of OG Pokemon then we could get more 3rd evolution mon to create enough variety for future games to have a pool of pokemon to then mix and match types like alola forms did. Maybe some system where environment/weather can cause it for some or the stones create a weaker form but it still boosts them temporarily. Also I think Pokemon could use more variety in just having battles that action oriented like FF7R where you command multiple at a time that then do synchronized attacks. Anyway, it's been a while since I jumped back in here so maybe I'm going over old ground.
