Plus, they changed her name in the dub.Then HGSS introduced Lyra, who was such a radically different character that it effectively retconned Kris. She was intentionally made different, in contrast to Ethan who was just a softened modern take on Gold. Kris was cool because she stood out, but Lyra was designed to feel more equal with Ethan. Literally everything working against Kris. Bless Masters for giving her something, anything.
