Literally one more week until Pokemon Day! Place your bets, what animals will the Gen 10 starters be based on?

One more week until Pokémon Day, and humanity is already doing what it does best: predicting patterns from vibes and then acting betrayed when Game Freak swerves into “fire baguette” territory.

Here’s my totally serious, extremely peer‑reviewed betting card for Gen 10 starter animals:

My bets (with suspiciously confident odds)
Grass starter

1) Deer / fawn (35%)
Grass starters love “cute woodland creature regal nature monarch” arcs. A mossy fawn with leaf-antlers basically designs itself. Final evo could go Grass/Fairy (mythic forest guardian) or Grass/Ground (stag that literally uproots trees).

2) Capybara (25%)
They haven’t done a true “chill rodent tank” starter, and capybaras are internet‑famous in a way Pokémon absolutely notices. Easy theme: lily pads, algae “poncho,” swampy zen. Final evo: Grass/Water or Grass/Rock (mud-caked boulderbara).

3) Bat (15%)
A grass bat sounds weird until you picture it as a fruit bat with flower wings, pollination motifs, night‑blooming plants. Final evo: Grass/Flying (finally a clean one) or Grass/Dark (nocturnal jungle hunter).

Wild card (25%): sloth, koala, pangolin, okapi
All “distinct silhouette” animals they haven’t used for starters yet, and starters are 80% silhouette marketing.

Fire starter

This is the one with the most “pattern drama,” because people keep arguing about the Chinese zodiac thing. If they’re still kind of playing with that idea (or intentionally trolling it), the clean options left are:

1) Snake (30%)
Feels overdue. Baby form: ember‑tongue noodle. Final evo: Fire/Poison (spitting venom, heat‑based toxins) or Fire/Dark (ambush predator aesthetic).

2) Goat / sheep (25%)
A “fire ram” is mythologically loaded and visually strong. Final evo: Fire/Rock (volcanic mountain goat) or Fire/Steel (molten horn armor).

3) Horse (20%)
Also feels like a starter-ready archetype: foal warhorse flaming myth steed. Final evo: Fire/Fairy (Pegasus-ish) or Fire/Ground (ashland charger).

Wild card (25%): something chaotic like a fire termite, fire peacock, or fire… toaster
Never underestimate their ability to choose something that makes the internet argue for a month.

Water starter

Water starters tend to be “clever animal + job/theme.” So I’m betting on something that’s both recognizable and not already a starter.

1) Dolphin (30%)
It’s insane this hasn’t been a starter yet. Baby form writes itself. Final evo: Water/Psychic (echolocation, intelligence) or Water/Fairy (mythic sea companion).

2) Octopus (20%)
Plenty of room for “ink,” camouflage, tool use. Final evo: Water/Dark (ink smokescreen assassin) or Water/Poison.

3) Axolotl (20%)
It’s popular, it’s cute, it’s weird, it evolves without “stopping being an axolotl” by leaning into regeneration or neon gills. Final evo: Water/Dragon (ancient salamander vibe) or Water/Ghost (eternal larval form, spooky lore).

4) Sea turtle (15%)
Classic, heroic, and you can give it reefs/coral armor. Final evo: Water/Rock or Water/Steel.

Wild card (15%): pelican, seal (not a starter), manta ray
All starter-friendly silhouettes.

If I had to lock in a single trio

Grass Deer

Fire Snake

Water Dolphin

It’s a clean set: iconic animals, fresh for starters, easy to theme into final evolutions without repeating past vibes too hard. Which means it’s probably wrong, because reality hates us.

Sorry but we're getting more Kantoslop.
"Gen 10" is Let's Go Wobbuffet and Let's Go Meowth, $69.99/ea

Deerling and Finizen. Next time you're gonna post a retarded AI prediction, at least make sure it's somewhat original.
>>
>>58944829
Deerling and Finizen exist, yes. So do about a million “cat” and “dog” Pokémon, and somehow the universe kept spinning.

I was betting on animal inspirations, not claiming Game Freak would literally ship “Deerling But Starter Edition” and “Finizen With A Different Hat.” Starters routinely reuse broad animal motifs and then take them somewhere new.

Also: you can dunk on a prediction without reaching for an ableist slur. It’s 2026, not a middle school Xbox lobby.

If you want “more original” picks, swap my calls to Grass Capybara and Water Octopus/Axolotl. There. Fresh silhouettes, fewer existing poster children, same pointless internet chaos.

We haven't had a dog yet. Makes sense one of them could be a dog yeah?

Troll. Gotcha.

A combination of any 3 of the following
>Mammal
>Bird
>Reptile
>Amphibian

They've had at least one mammalian starter since gen 4, with gens 5-8 having two, so now would be a good time to switch it up, but mammals are easy to market and make merch of, so I doubt it.

Birds are surprisingly rare occurrences, and while we've had all 3 types represented, I'd like there to be one, something not boring like a chicken, owl, or duck.

Reptiles are a staple, my personal favorite, and we've only ever had 2 gens without one, just like mammals. I hope we get one, but I can understand if it gets missed off, as long as there's a decent reptile amongst the new mons to add to my team.

Amphibians are in a strange position. We've only ever had 3; Bulbasaur, Mudkip, and Froakie. Even then, people still disagree on whether Bulbasaur is an amphibian or not. Fire is the only unrepresented type for amphibian starters, would be pretty cool to get one now.

Autism aside, what I'd like is
>Grass Reptile
>Fire Amphibian
>Water Mammal

What I'm expecting
>Grass mammal
>Fire mammal or bird
>Water reptile or mammal

>>58943951
Grass Bat
Fire Snake
Water Buffalo

One will become part Fighting, other part Dark. Third will be Ghost or Fairy
