Here's what I think people would treat you in-universe depending on your type specialization.

for me its:
highly respected: dragon, fairy, steel, psychic
above average: ice, fire, ground, electric
uncommon: fighting, flying
basic: water, grass, bug, rock, normal
outcast: poison, ghost, dark

i can never think of bug as an outcast when bug/caterpie are very common first choice for trainers/bug catchers and no one seems to mind

Most youngster/lass types use normal or early route shitmons, but early on in Gen 1-3 Bug Catchers felt like a different type of trainer from them, with a ton of the trainers going all bugs yucky
