Lets get honest. How long can they keep the series up as it is? They can't make another 1000 pokemon that cannonically exist in the same universe as the ones that exist today. It just cannot happen. There literally can't be a gen 20 or gen 30 etc. My prediction is gen 11 will be a sort of "gen 2" macro for the series. All new pokemon, new types, new moves, no backward compatibility, a total reinvention of the series that takes place in a totally seperate universe. Obviously they'll keep Pikachu and Charizard in some form, but just imagine what gen 17 of this shit would look like with 150 new ones each and insane new balance changes every time. You'd need to make like 4 new types, power creep would be so destructive and corrosive that tackle would need to have 100 base power just to keep up, and the games will necessarily get worse in every way to accommodate the massive amount of characters. So yeah, that's my prediction, and honestly I hope they do it. A pokemon series 2 would unironically fix a lot of problems plagueing it today.
