It's been quite a few years since I've read through these.FireRed really did a lot of the heavy lifting, trying to flesh out the characters and story a lot more.I was surprised to see how quickly it evolved from just being a highlight reel of moments from a Ruby playthrough into what we know the series as overall. Page 2 starts with him calling Silcoon a piece of shit, then ends with him crying over the Beautifly's death. Page 3 already has the pokemon talking, conflicts between them and the trainer, and the famous Nuzlocke face and line "I believe this is all happening for a reason"FireRed really likes to take the time to capture the feeling of being on a pokemon adventure that the show did so well on occasion. Only now, there are real stakes and they can actually talk back. It's not a lot, but it's certainly inspiring me to try my hand at one of these comic strips.
