What would the fanbase be like if it never happened?

Why did it resonate with people so much?
(Also, read this comic series if you haven't, it's surprisingly charming, and tells a great story, especially in the FireRed sequel. Don't read White though, it ends in an indefinite hiatus and kinda sucked anyway)

About the same. You only hear about in specific subcircles online.
>Why did it resonate with people so much?
Makes your pokemon feel more special when you play with permadeath rules. Plus the 1 per route means you don't just pick the most OP 'mons and you can't just replace the ones you lose as easily.

Yeah, he started focusing too much on muh plot and started skimming over much of his run like he did in Ruby. And, I prefer the Firered artstyle to what it turned into in White.

I just read through Ruby after making this thread, and I was surprised just how short it is. It's been quite a few years since I've read through these.
FireRed really did a lot of the heavy lifting, trying to flesh out the characters and story a lot more.
I was surprised to see how quickly it evolved from just being a highlight reel of moments from a Ruby playthrough into what we know the series as overall. Page 2 starts with him calling Silcoon a piece of shit, then ends with him crying over the Beautifly's death. Page 3 already has the pokemon talking, conflicts between them and the trainer, and the famous Nuzlocke face and line "I believe this is all happening for a reason"

FireRed really likes to take the time to capture the feeling of being on a pokemon adventure that the show did so well on occasion. Only now, there are real stakes and they can actually talk back. It's not a lot, but it's certainly inspiring me to try my hand at one of these comic strips.

>but it's certainly inspiring me to try my hand at one of these comic strips.
as a side note, it's crazy how these comics started with guys like Nuz and Hale who used blatantly offensive internet humor and was colonized by literal trannyfaggot artists within half a decade.
>>
>>59025537
right? hearing someone use the word "fag" in such a casual way without parading it around like some sort of edgy badge of honor is surprisingly refreshing.
>>
is it faggy to use dupes clause?

>colonized by literal trannyfaggot artists within half a decade.
More like people grew up and matured. Seems like you never did.
>>
>>59025427
There was this one nuzlocke comic with a girl protag that I really liked, it was kinda serious toned? I don't remember shit but it was cool
>>
>>59025561
As far as I'm concerned, anything outside of those primary two rules is faggy enough.

When I was bad at games, I came up with a Necromancy Rule where you can sacrifice pokemon to revive one as long as the levels sum up to double or more the dead pokemon.
>>
>>59025565
>t. libshit
becoming a naive, easily manipulated moron isn't growing up.
>>59025567
was it one of kynim's runs?
>>
>>59025565
you can grow up and mature without looking down in shame at the kid you used to be. You definitely don't need to shame kids who still are kids for having harmless fun.
I get people not wanting to continuously increase the edge for their whole lives, but these sort of people act like any sort of edgy humor has no place to exist.
>>
>>59025582
It was a long running gen I nuzlocke, I don't think it was kynim, man I don't remember shit for reference sadly, I remember snorlax killing her bird mon or some shit and it was like, painted with pencils?
>>
I miss the era of people just making shit in paint regardless of artistic skill.
>>
>>59025427
The fanbase would be exactly the same except we would have annoying threads like this constantly bitching about it.
>>
>>59025638
AIslop took that from us sadly

Found it, was this shit. "It's a hard life"
I liked it when I was younger, probably will look at it again
>>
>>59025668
people stopped doing that long before ai came around
>>
>>59025561
No, otherwise I would just use 30 Gyarados.
>>
>>59025427
>moderately entertaining
>an interesting way to replay games
It's not that hard to figure out.
>>
>>59025561
I tried it once but it made it too easy to get rare Pokémon. You can usually line up the encounters to get the Pokémon you want by process of elimination, even if it's supposed to be rare.

Is Nuzleaf the only pokemon with nipples?

The ONLY real life person I care about when it comes to pokemon is WolfeyVGC. Literally no one else matters, because no one else affects how you play the game like he does. Dude has invented strategies and tricks picked up by pros that are in use ten years later. He has literally gotten abilities and moves nerfed/changed. The GOAT.
>>
>>59025930
I usually go with a dupes clause that is two rerolls if I hit dupes, and then the route is dead.
>>
>>59026092
It's hilarious in a thread relevant way how Wolfey has an effect on the franchise meanwhile PChal is stuck crying defending rare candy abuse for turning Nuzlockes into a monetized calculator videobait instead of a personal journey with your friends (like his reaction videos to those who are earnest) and bitching about Pokemon Clover being too edgy for his faggy ass
>>
>>59026092
If every player played like Wolfey the meta would be so different. So much shit is centralized because for every one creative teambuilder there are 100 copypasters, and for every person trying to figure out how their opponent will play there are 100 people bitching about
>50/50

The majority of the people I've heard who talk about these old comics are like this. "Oh yeah it's from 4chan so it's gonna have some weird cringe humor, you get it"
You don't have to pretend it's all BASED and PILLED and "NO YOU HAVE TO LIKE THIS SHIT"
There's a middle ground somewhere, where you can have edgy humor but not become an e/pol/stein steve banon victim where they become your actual opinions. Some autists can't be trusted with it.
