You should've posted Gen 1 art then if that's what you believe since you'll find people that claim it was Gen 2 that GF started trying to appeal to girls with the introduction of baby Pokemon and, with the release of Crystal and the option to pick a girl protagonist.
Thing is though, Pokemon was always meant to appeal to both boys and girls. Going as far back as Japanese Red and Green promos, there are girls shown to be playing along with guys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RelY6L4rH-g

Reminder that they were trying to appeal to girls since gen 1 and it's why clefairy(sugimori's attempt), and pikachu and the starters(gf asking Nishida to reverse engineer some first state evolutions) were all things in the first place
Gen 2 just made it more corporate with commands by the suits, and also forced things to be more toyetic
It's ironic you post gen 2 art in fact. Gen 3 tried to apologize to fans by making more monstrous pokemon again and even that gen had stuff aimed at girls

You mean during the middle of develoment of Gen 1, when they brought Atsuko Nishida on to make more cute and appealing designs instead of the weirdo monsters of early Gen 1 development? Probably true, look at some of the old spritework for Pokemon before that point and tell me something wasn't lost in the process.

This. I don't know why a franchise being aimed at both girls and boys is hard for some people here to wrap their heads around. That's most franchises in fact.
