I think the movie would have been a bigger hit post-pandemic when Pokemon got super big again (and now). Could have gotten Minecraft numbers but the designs need work.

They did announce a sequel (and recently a action Netflix show) but neither has has an update lately.

the movie was great it had youtuber fan writing but i loved it. reminded me of that cgi movie we got of ben 10 classic with the scope and scale of things.

overall 7/10 maybe 8. i would love to rewatch it and get a sequel. theres a lot of pokemon that looked great in this style like squirtle and bulbasaur. they showed a lot of them off in the youtube teaser. but i think they chose the wrong ones to translate to this style like lickitung looks a little off but not deal breaking.

charizard just needs eyes like a cat and they really made him jiggles a lot from what i remember.

i love gengar so much but its really the only one that looks objectively bad. scaling the teeth down wouldve helped. id rather he have a bunch of teeth rather than a few giant ones they look goofy. maybe even sharpen the edges a little of them so it gives off a little fang impression. the eyes are just wonkey they need to rework the scale and structuring of them.

gengars really my only hang up and they didnt have that much screen time thankfully.
